Looking at the other spiders, they were also at the same levels, but with a few differences here and there.

Next, I check at Petite Nightmare, who is clinging close to Partner.

It kept throwing Abyss down the cliff while fighting at a safe zone so it hardly dealt with any short comings from the battle.

Wasn’t he Lv 9 before the battle?
But, well, it can’t be helped if his level is just difficult to rise, but…… now, he got overtaken by his junior, Petite Nightmare.
Or, maybe it’s just Petite Nightmare who levels up fast.

Lesser Treant must’ve noticed my expression and lowered his head, like he’s sorry that he wasn’t able to meet my expectations.

Last but not least…… is Alo.
Alo was Lv 20 before the battle…… and, she needs 10 more levels to evolve.
Alo contributed a lot in this battle with her magic, but what matters right now is how much experience she received.
I feel like we always hit an impasse whenever we have to deal with the last 10 levels.
It’d be nice if she overcame this hurdle……

We’re not there yet, but it’s just within reach.

I’m sure the those fifty Abyss weren’t all of them.
They were probably just the vanguard.
I assume that those fifty Abyss were scattered around the forest until they decided to go back and ambush me because of the Abyss Zombie.
That means there’s going to be even more of them when get down this cliff.

I want Alo to evolve by round 2 of this battle.
Just a little more, we’re almost there, Alo.

I look at Alo with my determined face.

Alo started out as a walking pile of bones.
Then, she evolved into a skeleton that can use magic, and now, although she has a human shape, her skin quality is bad and her hair is rough.
The next evolution has to make her completely human.

Alo has a lingering wish to become human that I don’t know about.
I don’t know if it’s because she wants to live on as a human again, or what other linger emotion she might have.
She’s gotten pretty good at speaking now, but she’s hesitant to tell me.
We don’t even know if the end point will be a human in her evolution tree.
But of course, no matter how hard or arduous the path ahead is, I’ll give her my full support.

Perhaps it’s because she doesn’t want people staring at her undead face that Alo is shyly looking down.

“Gra~a……”

I apologize with a low growl.
I then stand up and walk to the edge of the cliff, taking a peek down the bottom.
It was too far down, I couldn’t see clearly, but the land does extend beyond so it’s not a deadend.
Hardened, twisted trees protrude out of the cliffsides and there are also holes too.
There are deformed corpses of dead monsters in those holes.

It’s eerily quiet.
Even with my〖Presence Sense〗, nothing is being detected down there, like there’s a null blankness I can’t sense.
All Abyss have some kind of skill that lets them hide themselves from being detected, which is probably how they were able to isolate themselves into hiding from the outside world.
…… I’m starting to get why they’re called “Abyss” now.

Other than Alo, it might be better if I leave the others behind for now.
Even if they do get attacked while they’re waiting for us, Petite Nightmare and the spiders’ supports can take down an Abyss on their own.
Though, if I ever sense them fighting a group instead of a few, I’ll head back up and lend them a hand as fast I can.

Anyways, let’s have Partner heal them all up with〖High Rest〗.
Alo also recharges her MP from me.
Black aura radiates around Alo.

“Gru~o”

I roar at Petite Nightmare.
It was crawling around Partner, but when I roared, it turns around and looks at me.

I turn my gaze to the sides.
Petite Nightmare also looks sideways and turns to where I was looking.
From our line of sight, the spiders were ravaging over the Abyss corpse they brought back from the cliff.

Petite Nightmare seems to have understood that I was asking it to babysit the spiders, but it shot a web on Partner’s head, and tried to hide behind Partner, ignoring my request.

…… Partner, how about you, won’t you help me out please?
Partner pauses and thinks about it for a while, then she nods and looks up at her head.

“…… Gra~a”

Hearing Partner’s roar, Petite Nightmare jumps off of Partner’s head and they face each other.

“Kiki! Kiki!”

After that short cry, it crawls towards the other spiders.
…… What, you listen to Partner, but not me.

I face Alo.
When our eyes met, we both looked down at the cliff and she gives me a determined nod.
I don’t know if that determined nod meant that she’s ready to go down the cliff with me or if it meant she’s ready to regain her humanity again.
