560 – [Immortal Step]

Lilixira’s tail smacks into the cliff wall, and she comes at me, spreading her wings. I send a [Dimension Claw] at her while turning to face the oncoming threat.

As I do so, her figure distorts and bends away. I have [Illusion Nullification]. That isn’t any normal illusory skill.

There’s something suspicious about the contents of her skill.

【Normal Skill [Immortal Step]】

【A movement skill that uses leylines of magic to compress space and reposition the user.】

The description is written bluntly, yet it’s an absurd skill. There’s still quite a bit about my own [Wormhole] that I’m not sure of, in terms of ease of use, it seems to be far superior.

With this being the first time I’m seeing it, I shouldn’t try for a half-assed counter. I should see through it calmly, and do my best to not take any damage I don’t need to.

“[Aparajita]!”

A mass of light appears in the grip of each of her four arms. They immediately extend outwards, forming into swords of pure light.

【Normal Skill [Aparajita][1]】

【Gathers the user’s own holy magic to form evil-destroying weapons.】

【The number and shape can be freely changed according to the user’s will.】

【Even if the weapon leaves the user’s grasp, their form can be maintained as long as magic is continuously supplied.】

…In other words, they’re a mass of holy attribute magic that can freely change shape. Not only are her skills troublesome, they seem to all be versatile and practical.

The distortion in space expands, and Lilixira suddenly appears in front of my eyes. Because of the distortion, my [Dimension Claw] has missed. Without even grazing her, it cuts a large scar in the cliff wall.

It’s way too nonsensical. With such a skill in her possession, if she foresees my attacks and uses [Immortal Step] to relocate herself, it’ll be almost impossible for me to land a direct attack on her.

I throw myself backwards with a flap of my wings, and create distance between myself and Lilixira.

She swings her four swords of light. The swords grow in length, the tips reaching out to cut through my retreating chest.

However, all I receive are shallow cuts. If I can observe her [Immortal Step] and [Aparajita] at the cost of only this much damage, I’ll be able to keep the damage I take in the future down. It’s essential to determine what attack patterns she favours.

The problem is, with how much more HP she has, the difference will gradually become insurmountable, even if I only take shallow wounds. It seems like [Holy Naga] doesn’t just have defensive skills of the strongest class and attack skills, but also skills that let it come out on top in a battle of attrition.

【Characteristic Skill [Immortal Qigong][2]】

【An internal circulation skill that heals the body and raises physical strength by taking in atmospheric mana through breathing.】

【Characteristic Skill [Body Alchemy]】

【Using naturally-occurring mana and one’s own fluids, an ethereal remedy is created within the user’s body. Allows recovery of HP, MP, and from abnormal statuses.】

With such a thing, my disadvantage will rise the longer this battle drags on. Having said that, it’s questionable whether she could be classified as an endurance-type, since she has her [Aparajita] skill that can strike with high power at both short and long range. She still has her outstanding gravity magic, too.

The balance of her skills are way too good. Probably, the [Holy Naga] is among the strongest, even within Legendary rank.

She probably made sure she’d transform into this monster with [Laplace Interference Authority] beforehand. What an unthinkable efficiency-obsessed psycho.

『You… I had thought you were a piece of shit that uses everyone other than yourself as mere puppets.』

While flying in midair, Lilixira surveys me with an expressionless gaze. She probably plans to evade with [Immortal Step] if she sees any sign of me using [Dimension Claw].

『But, I understand now! You see even yourself as a pawn! Exploiting people and betraying them over and over again… Even with the lives of thousands at stake in the Ardesian capital, you weren’t thinking of anything other than disposing of the slime and me in one go! And now, you’ve so easily given up on even living as a human! Just what the hell are you thinking? Why would you go this far in your lust to gather the divine skills?!』

The swords of light in Lilixira’s four hands transform into discs.

“There is already no need to exchange words with you.”

Her surroundings distort, and she displaces to the side. As space distorts, Lilixira swings two of her four arms, throwing two of the discs of light.

The discs spin towards me, following bizarre trajectories. First swords, and now chakrams, huh. It really looks like she can make them take whatever shape she wants.

For even the throwing trajectory to be controllable, [Aparajita] is really a skill with limitless potential. By mixing in [Immortal Step] when throwing, my eyes can even be deceived as to their real trajectories.

Until the chakrams leave [Immortal Step]’s effect range, it’s impossible to predict how they will move. It’s critical to deal with them cautiously. Not even I can receive several of those attacks. I absolutely must not take a direct hit.

In the instant I turn my awareness to the two chakrams, Lilixira disappears from my vision. Warning bells go off in my head.

The [Aparajita] chakrams are dangerous. In addition to having their trajectories confused by [Immortal Step], by nature they fly fast and with bizarre movements.

However, most importantly, I need to somehow deal with Lilixira who disappeared. There’s no time. I’ll die if I hesitate.

With [Dragon Mirror], I make myself completely vanish. [Dragon Mirror] is a skill that lets me warp light and space to distort my form. At the cost of continuously draining MP and leaving me exposed upon exit, it’s possible for me to vanish completely.

It’s convenient, but it’s risky and not something I can use often. I didn’t want to use it against Lilixira, but my instincts screamed at me that it would be too dangerous not to.

The two chakrams coming from the front and the other two chakrams coming from a completely different direction pierce through my position. Lilixira herself is, again, in a different spot.

It was a misdirection trick. Drawing my attention to the first pair of unfamiliar [Aparajita] chakrams, she circled around to the edge of my vision with [Immortal Step] and flung the remaining two chakrams]. If I didn’t have [Dragon Mirror], avoiding it would have been difficult.

I quickly return to normal and immediately fly up. It would be bad if I remained in the same spot where I cancelled [Dragon Mirror].

“…I see, it was [Dragon Mirror]. You pulled through well.”

Looking up at me, Lilixira speaks indifferently. New [Aparajita] swords are already grasped in her four hands… If I try to evade using the same method, I’ll very likely end up being hit by [Aparajita] upon restoring my form.

While fleeing up the cliff, once more, I continue checking Lilixira’s skills.

【Characteristic Skill [Chakra Awakening]】

【Lets the user use magic to feverishly accelerate their body’s seven central organs.】

【The mind clears, strength increases, and magic power overflows.】

【All stats can be raised, but HP and MP is decreased rapidly.】

【A double-edged sword that destroys one’s own body.】

…Close and short range, offence and defence, endurance and special situations; Lilixira’s skill composition isn’t just limited to handling all of those. She even has a rampage skill for when she’s on the backfoot. She’s obsessed with gaining victory at any cost.

It looks like if push comes to shove, her last-ditch effort will make use of [Chakra Awakening]. I’m being pressed into a fairly tough situation already, so I won’t be able to last if she uses such a skill.
