652 – [Eclipse]
I kick off the ground, flying up into the air. All three Aros are clining onto my back.

『Master-dono, how should we attack…?』

Treant asks.

『She should still be injured. We need to go all-in before she can regenerate.』

I can already see her flesh growing, making her bulkier. She’s using [Autoregeneration]. If we can hit her hard before she can fully recover, we should be able to defeat her.

I rain down [Dimension Claws] from overhead. Miia’s ten legs squirm, carrying her up the wall and towards me. She’s fast. Her long body is moving freely to dodge my attacks.

『She really is a centipede…』

It’s amazing that she’s able to move her giant body so nimbly out of the way of my [Dimension Claws], despite not even having a projectile to dodge. Her spatial awareness is seriously abnormal. Her appearance has become that of a giant monster, but seeing this has made me properly realise that it really is still Miia in there.

Does she want to run away to buy time? It’s not like her, but I guess it makes sense that even she’d want to avoid being aggressive while low on HP. As a thanatos she’s tough, but her huge body also makes it harder for her to dodge. It’s only natural that she’d want to keep her distance now.

The more passive she is, however, the more aggressive I can be. This is by no means a bad situation.

But, that’s exactly why it feels like it’s all about to come crashing down. Would she really choose such a passive strategy?

Miia crawls straight up the wall. I fly up and aim for her head with [Dimension Claw], but then she suddenly leaps off the wall. Three of her sets of wings open, lifting her above me.

“I’ll show you just how easy you’ve been having it so far.”

The six eyes of her draconic head open wide. I see a black light amassing in her mouth.

It looks like [Gravidon], but she doesn’t have that skill. There aren’t many skills she has that I haven’t seen before.

The black light expands from inside her draconic mouth. Miia’s entire body is quickly obscured by a black mist.

I reach back and take the three Aros into my mouth, then curl into a ball.

『I don’t know what it is, so we’re retreating for now!』

I kick off the wall to change my trajectory.

The next moment, a thick black beam shoots out of the mist. The speed of it is terrifying. Fortunately, thanks to me anticipating a magical attack, I’m just barely able to dodge it. I won’t be able to avoid attacks like this reliably.

But, the black beam that I avoided angles towards me to chase me. I twist around, but it grazes my back, gouging to my side.

“GuoOOOOOOO!”

I scream in pain. Blood pours out, and I feel a cold pain from my exposed bones. This is bad. [Eclipse] can be controlled like [Heat Ray]. She can adjust the aim while firing.

I look up at Miia, and realise that it’s even worse. Countless beams of black light are streaking out of the fog. It’s not just the one that hit me. Each of those lights are just as dangerous.

『Stop this damn attack!』

Still moving, I throw a [Dimension Claw] at the black sphere. But it doesn’t budge.

My claws feel unpleasant. Probably, like the rays, that sphere is a mass of death curses. Just touching it would be enough to blast my hand away.

Avoiding the incoming beams, I desperately rack my brains. It’s seriously unfair that she’s protected by that impenetrable barrier while also attacking with such stupidly powerful magic.

Unable to dodge one of the lights, I block with my sword. The blade bends, then shatters into motes of light. It drained the power from [Ideal Weapon].

Taking advantage of the momentum of the impact, I fly away as fast as I can.

I try to think of a solution, but all I can think of is how screwed we are. The moment I let up, I’ll be skewered by [Eclipse].

『If she had this much of a cheat skill, then she should have used it to crush us from the start!』

Without thinking, I voice my complaints.

“Dragon-god-sama, calm down!”
“The fact that she didn’t do that means that’s probably some sort of weakness!”
“Use [Wormhole]! Try shooting magic through a [Wormhole]! It’ll probably get into the sphere!”

The three Aros advise me from inside my mouth. I gues The fact that there are three of her means she has three times the normal thinking ability, and she’s always been clever. I never thought that [Darkness Kaleidoscope] would have a benefit like this.

She’s right that [Eclipse] must have some sort of weakness. If it really was all-powerful, then Miia could have broken through the hecatoncheir by herself. The fact that she didn’t probably means the mana cost is severe.

[Eclipse] can’t break the walls of this tower. If the hecatoncheir could hide on the other side of the tower, it could wait out her attack. I can’t use that strategy inside, but it’s worth bearing in mind that she’s burning through mana.

Unfortunately, [Wormhole] won’t work. It seems like it would be promising if Miia really is unable to move, but it just takes way too long to activate. I’m won’t be able to dodge the [Eclipse] barrage while also maintaining the [Wormhole]. It’s unfortunately as unusable as ever.

But, thanks to Aro’s advice, I’ve managed to gather my thoughts a bit.
