She felt a powerful aura behind her and instinctively turned away. An uproar rose among the crowd that had come to watch the ceremony. Someone had burst into the hall.

The war of the Demihumans has come to an end. Celebrations were held in the capital to honor the heroes of this victory. Including the one who contributed the most to it: the Sword Saint. The residents of Lugnica thronged to see her with their own eyes.

The intruder made his way to the platform where Theresia van Astrea, dressed for the occasion, was standing,

It can't be... This must be some kind of nightmare, some kind of delusion that the God of the Sword is sending me...

She couldn't believe her eyes. The ceremony was interrupted by Wilhelm. A hooded young man in a dirty cloak threatened her with an old, rusty sword. Theresia reached for the weapon. Since she was in the middle of a solemn ceremony, she had only the richly decorated ceremonial weapon at her disposal.

The guards surrounded them with the intention of getting rid of the intruder, but the king ordered them to stop. Theresia was grateful to him. She didn't want anyone to disturb them.

Is this a dream? Maybe. But if so, I want to keep dreaming. I want the encounter with the Sword Demon to never end.

They moved into battle, as if by agreement, simultaneously. Steel struck steel with a clang.

Theresia had the Sword God on her side, showing her the way to victory. All you have to do is follow my directions and you will kill him, you will win," she says.

The Sword Demon had only his skills and zeal. However, it soon became apparent that the heat that burned in the young man's soul allowed him to accomplish impossible things. Excitedly, Theresia watched as William's sword slashed the white threads. Her heart was beating like crazy.

Every time their swords crossed and some white line fell broken, every time their gazes met she lost her head.

I love him so much!

The feelings were becoming more and more powerful. She didn't want to fight anymore. She would have gladly thrown the sword into the corner and embraced Wilhelm at once.

He won't let me. Not the God of the Sword, nor the Sword Demon himself. He wants to fight me. All right, then. So be it. I won't despair if you defeat me. You'll be delivered from the clutches of the Sword God. You didn't give up, you sacrificed everything to get this power, so now use it to save me. You must have drawn your sword a thousand times just thinking about me.

They exchanged thrusts, blades flashing, until finally...

- I won.

The sword fell out of Theresia's hands and landed somewhere behind her back. Wilhelm struck so hard that her hands went numb from the shock. And when she was helpless, he put his broken, rusty sword to her neck.

She lost to years of training in sweat and blood. She lost to a rusty old weapon. The fantasy of the invincible hero burst like a soap bubble.

- You are weaker than me, so you don't have to fight anymore. You don't have a reason anymore," he announced without ceremony.

That's Wilhelm!

It had been so long since she had heard his voice.

- If I don't protect the others... who will?

- I will assume that duty. I will fight for you and for you, - He took off his hood.

She devoured with her eyes the face she so longed for. It was dirty and grim as usual. He looked at her with clouded eyes.

He came here to tell me he was going to save me and what, he shows up dirty and sour! The antithesis of a prince on a white horse, a bull in a china shop! Well, tough. He is a sword-like man, how could it be otherwise?

- You're horrible. You don't give a damn about other people's decisions. I knew what I wanted to do, and you ruined it! It was all for nothing.

- I take it upon myself. You'll be able to forget about killing, take care of the flowers, live a peaceful and carefree life by my side. And I will protect you.

- Will you protect me?

- Yeah.

- With a sword?

- Yeah.

He has finally admitted that I am the most important thing to him. He doesn't have to say anything, all that matters is that he reciprocates my love.

She smiled. She slipped past his sword and walked closer, She thought of all those years of his hard training and tears flowed from her emotion.

- Do you like flowers? - She asked with a smile. Her moist eyes sparkled.

- They don't bother me anymore.

- Why do you carry a sword?

- To protect you.

It happened. She did not hear the voice of the Sword God. To her, there was only William. She saw only him. She pressed her lips to his mouth; they were soft and warm.

Then everything changed. She looked at her beloved man, feeling her cheeks burn.

Wilhelm was silent. She laughed.

He's waiting for me to say something. As you can see, I have to ask first again!

- Do you love me?

- You know that already... - he replied obsequiously and turned his face away.

Theresia opened her eyes wide, then made an offended face.

I won't let him get away with it at a time like this!

- Hey! I wish you'd say it.

- Well... - He scratched his head, clearly embarrassed. He wanted to avoid her gaze, to escape her answer. Finally, he sighed and pulled her to him. - Maybe someday, when I feel like it.

She had a feeling that this moment would not come soon. She decided to wait, although she was not happy about it. But she loved this man with all his faults.
