Commissioned Short Story – Romance Consultation In Cross Field 

Part 1 

Lux had no male friend the same age with him. 

Since his childhood, he also had the circumstance of being in a unique position even within the imperial family of the old empire, and during the five year that he spent as chore prince too, he wasn’t really blessed with that kind of chance. 

The Seven Dragon Paladins of Vanheim Principality Greifer, and his aide Coral. Lux believed that he had gotten closer too them somewhat. 

Even so if it was limited at his nearby within the new kingdom, he didn’t have even a single male friend. 

Starting from Lisha, the girls in the Academy accepted him really well, but strictly speaking, female friend and male friend were slightly different. 

It was a difference that couldn’t be done anything about due to the difference in gender. 

Thus, at the bottom of his heart, there was no doubt that Lux was slightly holding a yearning for a relationship with male friend whose age was near him ??a friend with whom he could act unreserved with. 

But, right now Lux was enrolling into an academy for noble girls where he was the only boy there. 

Coupled with such special circumstance, something like an encounter with a new male friend was something that couldn’t be especially expected, but??. 

"Hey prince. Are you still accepting request from man?" 

The first block of Cross Field. 

In front of the Drag-Ride hangar inside the Academy’s ground, a turning point visited Lux at that day. 

The one who called out to him was a young man in the same generation with him. 

His blonde hair was shaved short pointily and his height was about the same with Lux. 

His face that gave the impression innocent childishness fitting for a young man was slightly familiar for Lux. 

Huey Reced. Sixteen years old, the second son of a baron house of the new kingdom. 

He who introduced himself like that was brimming with jovialness that was fitting for a young man in his springtime. 

"Err, if I’m not mistaken??you are the Drag-Ride mechanic’s……" 

It was an academy for noble daughters, but that didn’t mean that there wasn’t any male within the ground. 

There was quite a number of man working in this facility, although they weren’t involved with the students openly. 

And then while Lux was doing chores in the Academy, he had seen this young man’s figure before. 

"Whoops, so you remember me. That’s great. That makes this fast! ……Ah, also I’m still an apprentice. Just like you prince who is a military cadet, although our path differ, both of us are fellow apprentice comrades." 

The young man who introduced himself as Huey seemed to become in good mood at Lux’s reaction. 

Saying it negatively, he was acting over familiarly, saying it positively he was acting sociably. 

"Just call me Lux. I think you know already, but me being a prince is already a story of the past." 

When Lux answered like that with a wry smile, Huey nodded "I get it" with a smile. 

The young man took a deep breath as though to sort his feeling for the moment, then he faced Lux once more and spoke with a strong will hidden within his expression. 

"??I have a request for you man to man! Teach me how to become populaaarrr-!" 

"……Yes?" 

Lux stiffened for a full several seconds, then he tilted his head awkwardly. 

After that, the young man Huey’s long story began. 

Normally he was only continuing his apprentice work quietly in the Drag-Ride hangar, but for some reason he came into contact with Lux today, the reason for that was, 

"You see??to put it simply, the majority of us men who are working in here are ordered that we cannot call out to the ladies except for work matter you know? It’s cruel right?" 

A few minutes later. Lux was munching on a meat pie that he bought from a stall outside while listening to the story obediently. 

Fortunately, if it could be called that, it was after the campus festival, the chores for Lux today was light. 

In addition he was also harboring an interest somewhat to have male friends, so he tried to go along with the talk. It seemed that this young man was worried, because among his comrades of the same age, it was only him who couldn’t make a girlfriend. 

One of the causes was because of the rules in the Academy that he couldn’t get involved with the female student.

Lux talked to Huey in order to admonish him as lightly as possible.

The young man sulked, but honestly Lux didn’t have any word to reply back with.

Huey held his head and groaned seeing Lux’s conflicted smile. 

"Haa……. There is no way a mere Drag-Ride mechanic can do that. Even though it’s a rare chance with a garden of ladies right in front of me, I’m just doing work with stuffy old men the whole day inside the hangar smelling like oil." 

Before long Huey’s head dropped down in dejection and he let out a great sigh. 

"You too originally should become Drag-Ride mechanic apprentice right? Where did I mistake my path I wonder……" 

Huey felt silent with that. Lux was troubled. 

"Your path isn’t mistaken or anything. I too was just coming across everyone by chance. I didn’t do anything big. Huey too, you might be able to have thing go well if you get a chance to meet with a girl you know?" 

"Do you think so? Can I also make a girlfriend? If only I can have an encounter??then even a frivolous person like me" 

Huey lifted up his face in a flash from Lux’s advice and he asked back with a serious expression. 

"Yeah, surely it will be fine. Well, it might be impossible right away, but I think if you can talk with several girls, then surely you will find a girl who is a good fit with you??"

Lux didn’t remember the whole conversation, but Lux yielded against Huey’s desperation. 

Lux promised that he would do what he could to introduce the Academy’s girl to Huey. 

But, at the same time he also prepared several minimum agreements. 

He mustn’t approach the girl too persistently and if the girl refused to talk with him then he would obediently back down. 

And also they would finish today with just calling out to several girls. 

"Of course I’ll keep the promise. Trust me!" 

Huey readily accepted the conditions, but Lux was still a bit uneasy. 

Well, it seemed that he single mindedly wanted to first become acquaintance with girls, so surely he wouldn’t do something too strange. ……Perhaps.

"I cannot wear Drag-Ride myself, but as Drag-Ride mechanic, I should be more useful than Lux, so please feel free to call me anytime. If you like then even now??"

But, Lisha whose expression was cherubic until now smiled daringly with that sentence. 

It was the other face that Lisha possessed, the dangerous and belligerent look that Lux saw when he first met her.

Lux immediately got an idea about who was the girl from Huey’s explanation.

The friendly greeting that was completely different from the previous case seemed to cause Huey to be drastically more enthusiastic.

"No, this is only still a greeting though……" 

Even while smiling wryly, Lux didn’t feel so bad about being relied on. 

Krulcifer was casually comparing the face of Lux and Huey who were like that while standing with a graceful bearing.

After that Huey talked a bit more with Krulcifer and he gave up.

Huey left his seat earlier, so Lux called out to her like that.

Huey was sighing in disappointment while moving through the courtyard. 

Lux who was walking beside him made a wondering face hearing that. 

"What do you mean? What’s wrong with me being there??" 

"You didn’t notice!? Really, someone like you are just……, just how did you persuade her to interact with you even despite the order from her house huh?" 

By the way, the order from the house was Krulcifer’s excuselie. 

And so, Lux chose his words carefully so that he wouldn’t expose that. 

"Since I enrolled into the same Academy like her, it couldn’t be helped because of that I think?"

Huey became teary eyed from his anxiety. Lux consoled him while talking to Philuffy in his place. 

"Phi-chan, has anything strange happened recently?"

Her saying that must be because of the captain of Seven Dragon Paladins, and also Philuffy’s master in martial art??Magialca. 

Because she was trying to invite Lux to become her lover, Philuffy said that.

Lux could only laugh wryly, but for some reason Huey who didn’t know anything about the circumstance reacted toward that conversation. 

"Wait, what. So Lux is getting protected by a girl? What a troubling guy. You need to train yourself a bit more like that."

Philuffy was staring unblinkingly at Huey who was smiling triumphantly. 

The young man mistook it as a gaze of admiration from her and talked even further. 

"Well, I’ll also train the inexperienced Lux later. As expected it’s no good if a man is being protected by a girl. If you like I can take time to train??. Hm……?" 

*Poke poke* Philuffy poked at Huey’s shoulder from the side. 

And then she put her elbow on the nearby stand and turned an absentminded gaze toward the young man.

The one who was walking with her beautiful blond hair fluttering was a third year and a daughter of a duke, the strongest in the Academy, Celistia Ralgris. 

She had incomparable strength as a Drag-Knight and a lovely beautiful face. 

And then above all else, because of the rumor of her being a 'man-hater', she was an existence that even noblemen couldn’t carelessly make a move on, but, 

"Yo, you are Celis-senpai!? Nice to meet you! I am an apprentice mechanic called Huey!"
