But the two Elves did not manage to emerge from the melting pot of flesh and blood. They tried to, but then the liquid mass full of fleshy chunks rose to the level of their necks, and the two of them began to sink back into its depths. I see…… so even after death you cannot know rest, huh? Poor things…… However, this is not a game where you can just press the pause button and mutter a silent prayer for the dead. This is a game where the situation changes constantly, so there was no time for things such as sending someone off. We needed to act, and act now.
「Deepslaughter!」
「This looks like some sort of new attack pattern! What’s it gonna be!? What’s it gonna be!? Oh gosh, I want to know already!」
It looks like I might have let my guard down a little bit because of that whole horror-like scene from just a moment ago. This won’t do, this won’t do…… I must get my act together! No time to relax!
There was yet another strange object being ejected from the back of the Red Dragon, this time reminding me of a crushed tomato. Compared to the meat seeds, that thing was a whole lot smaller, but there was also five of them being ejected at a time. This means only one thing: a new attack pattern was coming our way.
Five red lumps crushed into the earth with a loud and wet sound. Then, the lumps started to move and deform further, making a whole lot of noises that surely were not good for one’s mental health. And the things that emerged from the pools of red liquids…… they looked like little raptors, but with the Tyrannosaurus’ heads sitting on top of their necks.
You really have to handle it to ShanFro’s monster designers; their ideas and creativity seemed to have no end. Was that a Chimera as well? No, that’s not it…… there was a certain harmony to the way in which Chimeras looked. But this thing…… this thing looked as if you’d mash together a couple of Raptors’ torsos and then smacked the Tyrannosaurus’ head right in the middle of that, pushing the torsos aside in a nasty manner.
「Who should I put it…… Umm, isn’t it also way too short?」
Could it be…… the pieces of devoured matter were mixing inside of those lumps and the result would always be a monster born from those parts? But does that also include the NPCs? I mean, they are fundamentally different from monsters to begin with.
………… I see? Or at least, I think I get it now?
「Okay, I might regret this down the road, especially since it took us so long to get here, but this exactly why I will not allow for anything or anyone to slow me down now.」
This is the type of monster that no NPC should ever come across in their lives. Not that I’m worried about the NPCs here, but…… the result was going to be something that you could not limply laugh at.
「GUUUWWWRRRYYYRIRARIRARIRARIA!!!」
「Could you shut the hell up over there!? I’m trying to think here, for crying out loud!」
Dealing with dragon can be fairly easy of a task, but only for as long as you know the strategies that allow you to deal massive amounts of damage while staying out of the beast’ reach at the same time. The best strategy is to use its own weight and mass against it, and bait the attacks that causes its head to thrust forward. Just like with those small dinos now. Instead of dodging completely, I make a sidestep and slash at their heads with Aradval Rebuild. The flaming swords makes a sickening noise as it passes through the monsters heads with ease, making short work of them. It was as if the weapon itself was motivated now to do some work, now that it was actually able to slash through something like a hot knife through cheese. It was also at this time that the Red Dragon turned its ugly head towards me. So far it was Deepslaughter who was focusing its aggro on herself, but I guess that a time for a switch has finally come. Then, the rest of the smaller monsters dissipated into pools of liquid and spread over the ground, as if all of a sudden their power was cut off from them.
「But how to I attract its attention when we need it to? Technically, if this thing possesses offensive actions, it should be natural that there is a concept of “aggro” assigned to it, right?」
If this monster was able to use such broken attacks over and over again without means for us of breaking them, but fortunately this game was very just and fair when it comes to things like that. At least that is what I would expect from Amachi Ritsu……
This monster was dragon-shaped, but it was actually difficult to sense any biological signs from it. In the first place, its neck was in tatters, its torso looked as if it was about ready to fall apart at any minute now, and its innards were all over the place…… And every now and then, huge chunks of meat and droplets of blood were falling to the ground…… Wait, wait just a moment here.
「………!!!」
Looking down, I could see the remains of the Raptor-Tyrannosaur monster puddle on the ground. Looking even closer, the same kind of puddle was left in the place where the meat trees bloomed earlier.
「Residual objects? Excrements? No, could this actually be……」
This is the worst possible scenario here. The figures shooting from its back were first a red soup, then it got “shaped” into objects, only to be brought back into the soup state again. This means that its body could change its state from solid to liquid, right? I don’t like the sound of that…… But could it really be……?
But if so, then the opposite process is possible in here without a doubt.
「…… Tsk, Deepslaughter!」
「Yeees? What is it, my darling~?」
「Watch out for those red puddles on the ground! I don’t like them! They may be a flag of some sort!」
「You sure it’s not about my female pheromones driving you crazy with animalistic lust?」
No comment here. Besides, are you really a woman? I cannot simply trust the words of someone who can easily change their voice every now and then, wouldn’t you say?
「More importantly, Sanraku-kun! If you try to attack this red puddle, a damage effect will occur! Did you noticed?」
「No, but now I know! God damn it all to hell!」
Just before I was able to finish that curse under my nose, the body of the Red Dragon cramped up and burst like a one huge water balloon.
「Ahh…… Could it be? Are you and the Mud Digger actually related or something?」
A huge bright red pool was starting to spread in place where the Red Dragon was only a minute ago. Under its touch, the ground started to turn into red mud as well…… What is this feeling under my feet? Transmission? Or maybe contact……?
