「And you are…… Third, and also the last!!!」
First was the monster that looked like a head of the Tyrannosaurus that got slapped onto a whole bunch of raptor-like torsos.
Second was a new type of monster that looked like a crossover between an oversized cockroach and the wings of that Dracarus Pterocoalt thing that I happened to encounter not so long ago here.
And this monster right here was the third one to go down, the one that also had the head of the Tyrannosaurus…… as for the rest of that monster’s body, it was mainly the freshly assimilated body of one of the People of the Forest, with an arm growing from the left side of its head and a pair of huge horns growing from the right part of its head.
「…… Well, that design is supposed to feel refreshing, but somehow I cannot really feel it.」
This brings the first stage of my verification process to a close! Realizing that, I cannot feel somewhat relaxed, even though this was hardly the time to relax and let your guard down. But still, seeing that a monster that used to be a living humanoid being not so long ago was now acting in a complete monster-fashion, that…… that was making me feel somewhat sad.
However, there was no time to feel sentimental. Having finished deploying a new batch of small fries, the Red Dragon closed its back and readied itself to attack once more, which means that now I had to pay extra attention to its movements.
「I see that a next batch of red pool attack is about to come…… But still!」
How convenient. That actually works really well with me right about now.
All over the battle arena, a new portion of Chimera-like small monsters start to emerge from the inside of the pools of red liquids.
When I first happened to see this, I could not really think much of it, but right now…… Once you start to pay extra attention to small details, you can discover that there is a whole lot of information that previously managed to escape your attention. So observe closely and consider your options.

So, her theory was right after all. Even though that sounded downright crazy, but you have to hand it to this girl…… Her mind and intellect really were something else entirely.
Looking closely at the newest batch of small fries, you can see a monster that is a combination of the lower body of one of the People of the Forest and the head of a Pterosaur, and there is something resembling an oversized sea urchin with the head of the Raptor attached to it. That second monster looks incredibly “shitty”, not gonna lie…… But this confirms it. There was not a single monster from the current batch that would possess the majority of the “People of the Forest” parts or “Tyrannosaurus” parts.
「Hey, you…… Just wondering about it, but what happens when you run out of the things form which you can construct new monsters!?」
Since this is a Raid Boss battle, there is no way for us to be sure about it, but there is always a possibility that the boss might run out of “ammo” to use against the players. So we have no other choice but to exterminate the small fries and be positive about it. However, there is always a possibility that this is actually not the case, and our battle so far against the small fries is nothing but a wasted effort and resources.
However, right about now he have way too few information to devise any other strategy. So we have no other choice but to keep on doing what we were doing up until now. We are surely not going to win this battle with our current squad, so we might as well go completely “Balls to the wall” here. No use in hesitating too much. It’s like making a bungee jump from the viewing platform of the Kyomizu-dera temple: there is no use in fearing the inevitable.
「DAAAAH! You’re in the way! Get lost!」
I throw the Dis Pater shield in front of me and pierce the ground with Aradval Rebuild, holding the sword with both of my hands. Ooohh, there it is! Looking closely, the fallen Chimera began to sink into the ground, and there were quite a few other signs as well. I knew it, nothing can beat a slow and steady judgement based on calm observation. If there was ever a moment when I should be grateful for the enhanced vision this Bird Eye mask was giving me, that moment surely was now. You could notice those signs only with your naked eye, and without enhanced vision it would have been pretty much impossible. Now, hoe about the Vitality of this thing? Will I be able to do it? Or is this thing going to be resilient as hell……?

That’s why you never throw your shield or leave it behind! Because in case of emergencies like that you are going to be left without one and you will have to go back all the way in order to retrieve it! Wait for me, Dis Pater! I’m coming to get you!
I run towards the shield that was on the ground and pick it up without even stopping for a moment. It was one swift motion on my end here. Then, almost right after that I swing with my shield towards one of the small fries that tried to jump at me, rotating my body and slashing away with my sword to separate the monster’s head from the rest of its body. Now, if I were to just crush into monsters like that head on, the energy created from the difference in mass would be more than enough to kill me on the spot, but since my body is lighter than those of monsters, as long as I manage to dance around them and do this properly, I can evade ever attack or charge. I can do this!
Having escaped the immediate danger, I store Dis Pater back in my inventory and take out the recovery potions that I have bought ahead of time. Twelve sets of twelve potions, to be exact. I then start chugging them down until I get the desired result. Miss. Miss. Miss. Success. Miss. …… Fucking hell, what the fuck is wrong with this RNG here!?
