ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 358 Part 1
ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 358: Dragon! Dragon! Part 23 Part 1

「HAAAHAHAHAHA! Getting stuck on the small fries is probably the worst feeling in the entire world!」

That being said, I slash the giant mosquito that was right in front of me in half, restoring the portion of my HP in the process.

Going ahead, I activate the effect of Levin Trigger / Disaster Hand to bring my HP down to a certain level, activating the effects of the Dead Horizon.

In response, more and more small fries are being generated around the field in order to stop my advances, but I cut them all down and restore my HP further without issue.

So it was a constant loop here. I go further in the “Overflow” state, some monster spawn, I restore my HP by cutting them down, and then bring my HP down again to once more activate the effects Dead Horizon.

And with each consecutive kill I regain the portion of my lost HP, the RIP grows stronger and the sword in my hands grows lighter.

「Alright! Here it comes! Here it comes! Here it comes!」

Memento Mori –– Always remember about Death. This huge sword is actually a combination of two smaller weapons, and its lore gives it the ability to grow stronger with every enemy that the player managed to defeat with it.

It also has the additional effect of being able to instantly kill the enemies whose level is lower than the one the player character has.

Apparently the percentage chance of the instant death occurring is calculated by subtracting the level of the enemy from the player’s level. This is already good enough as it is, and with the additional effects of R.I.P, this give the player a chance to use this instant death effect fairly frequently on a whole variety of enemies.

When you are way overleveled for regular monster, it is not all that strange that you might proc the instant death effect with almost every single swing of your sword, even if you do not wish to do so. However, it would have been a shitty game level wishful thinking to think that an instant death would work against a monster whose level is higher than your own. In the end, I knew it all along! Randomly Generated Numbers are just evil!

Next thing on the list of skills and effects: each time you defeat a monster with this weapon, it regains part of its durability. This ability may seem to be backwards compatible with Duxaram here, but I think it was mostly designed to be compatible with R.I.P, since technically those two items are supposed to make a set. At least that is the logical conclusion I managed to arrive at.

Apparently the effects affecting Endurance in this game as not nearly as unique I thought them to be.

And last but not least…… With each consecutive kill, the sword starts to get “lighter”. Strictly speaking, it’s not the actual weight of the weapon that gradually disappears, but it’s more like the player becomes more and more proficient at handling it, since the increasing ease of use. That is why even though you can easily swing it around after accumulating a fair amount of kills with it, the actual weight of the sword is just that –– an oversized greatsword.

However, weight of the sword is not the only thing that changes here. It should go without saying, but the lighter the weapon becomes, its very nature tends to change drastically as well. For example, even though this is a greatsword, with enough kills you will reduce its weight to that of a straight sword, enabling you to use the straight sword skills with it. Or even when you are supposed to be using it with two hands, you will be able to easily wield it only in one hand.

「Just because I am merely swinging this thing around, did you think I was defenseless!?」

Yes, and right about now I can certainly wield that sword with one hand.

Perhaps thinking that it managed to find a hole in my defenses, one of the Great Red Devourer’s heads tried to have a bite out of me, only to get slashed by Ardaval Rebuild in return. The Dragon’s head got cut off and it let out a pained scream.

However, even if Memento Mori would eventually become as light as a Styrofoam, big things will continue to be big things, which means that they will be difficult to handle to some extent. Size wise, this thing is still like a snowboard with handle attached to it, right? Even if you just swing it with one hand, its size makes it difficult to do exactly as you please.

On the other hand, if it is just the regular movements that you want from a weapon, and not something fancy, such a weapon is more than enough here to use the opening created by the Aradval Rebuild and strike there with all of my might!

「Keep on feeding me resources like that and you’re going to spell your own doom here……!」

Come on, then! Bring out more small fries here! That’s exactly what I want! Bring them out and make me stronger as a result!

Waving that sword around feels more like brandishing an oversized fan rather than the actual weapon, but the fact that it is big also means that it stands out even more.

Using both the greatsword and the bastard sword, I position myself right in front of the Great Red Devourer, and while gradually increasing and decreasing my own HP I shuffle the aggro of the monster between myself and the Tri-headed Tyranno, who right about now was almost monopolizing the aggro department in here.

「Daaah! Let me show you how to use this thing!」

With that said, I put the Aradaval Rebuild away and make a might swing with Memento Mori being held in both of my arms.

One of the dragon heads tried to strike me with a breath attack, but in response to that I slashed its jaw with a raising cut, effectively breaking its jaw and causing the breath attack ot explode inside of the dragon’s mouth. With that being taken out the way, I was free to launch a further counteroffensive. So far, the Great Red Devourer was showing no signs of retreating or backing away, so right now the only thing that was left for us to do was to unleash all hell at the dragon’s weak point, cause some colossal damage here and put this overwhelmingly unfavorable battle to an end once and for all.

If you focus entirely on me, then Tri-headed Tyranno will be left to do as it pleases. The same thing goes in the opposite direction here. If it focuses the tri-headed Tyranno, I will be left to my own devices. Now the question is: do you have enough heads left to be able to split your attention in between us? Because I highly doubt that!

「Press the attack! Press the attack! Press the attack!」

With tri-headed Tyranno being locked onto the Great Red Devourer’s main body and with me taking care of all of the small fries, this might boss was now locked in place, having nowhere else to go or run off to.

That being said, the vast majority of the damage comes from the tri-headed Tyranno here, about eighty percent or so. But I have no complaints here, since thanks to the instant death effect on my greatsword, I am more than ideal person to sweep all of the small fries clean. It is a very dangerous game that we play here, but if we continue with this strategy just like that, we may be able to overwhelm our opponent……

Even the Elven arrows can inflict some sort of damage here. Sure, it is relatively small, but if repeated enough times, it will become a force to be reckoned with.
