After the first Squad Jam, Karen got to be good friends with Saki and her team of high schoolers. Having them over at her apartment to hang out and drink tea was a level of sociability that had seemed impossible to Karen not long ago. In the meantime, she wasn’t as deep into GGO as she used to be. 
During this period, a second Squad Jam was abruptly announced. Karen wasn’t enthusiastic about participating, but M’s real-life player, Goushi, who somehow knew her real identity and address, spurred her on. 
“On the night of the second Squad Jam, someone is going to die.” 
Apparently, Pitohui was intending to take part in the tournament, and if she died during the event, she would die in real life, too. Goushi begged Karen to help save her… After much agonizing, Karen decided to enter SJ2 to complete her mission: kill Pitohui in Squad Jam, the only way to avoid the worst-case scenario…
