Vol.2 Chapter 10 Part 1

The attendants from the Sun Palace were dressed in ceremonial clothes when they arrived at the Silver King's palace. The Grand Chamberlain held up a golden silk scroll in both hands and spoke in a solemn voice.

"Silver King, please receive the royal edict from the Emperor."

Sienna, who had been waiting for this, knelt down in front of the Grand Chamberlain and bowed her head.

"I will receive the imperial mandate."

"The Silver King deserves praise for her noble virtues and faithful loyalty. I hereby bestow upon her a fiefdom. May you take this territory and protect it along with its people. Do your best to cast the glorious reign of the Empire over the whole world."

"Thank you for the immeasurable imperial grace."

Sienna stood up and received the golden scroll. The Sun Palace's attendants finally departed, and Sienna ordered her servants to carefully store the golden scroll away for safekeeping.

Then she opened the envelope that the attendants had handed her separately and took out the documents inside. This was the true edict.

"The southern provinces of the Imperial Empire...?"

The territories that the Emperor had ceded her were quite unexpected. She had memorized all the territories of the Empire, but Sienna pulled out a map to make sure.

'It's far away.'

The Emperor's power was mainly centralized in the capital and the provinces around it. As one moved further away from the center, the Emperor's power was a lot more scattered. Anything physically closer to the Emperor could often be seen by his own eyes, but when it came to territories further away, he sent a delegate to observe it for him. It was only a territory of the Empire in name only. These territories basically belonged to the nobles living there.

Sienna called for the the administrators of the central administration and questioned them about the transportation required to travel to these territories.

"If you would like to travel there by land, you will need a guide. The route by sea will be a bit more roundabout, but it would be the better choice. It will take approximately ten days."

So a round trip would take twenty days. It was a trip that would require heavy packing.

'But if I travel by boat, I'll be able to see the places around it as well.'

There were many rivers that cut across the territories of the Empire. If one traveled a little south of the capital, they would come across the widest and longest river in the Empire. It was often used as a way for important goods to move throughout the Empire.

'I'll go.'

She had never spent a night outside of the Palace before. This would be the greatest challenge and adventure of her life thus far. She called for her aide to check her schedule.

"I've taken care of the flexible commitments and pulled them to an earlier date. I've also checked to see which upcoming events require your participation. In fifteen days, you'll have twenty-six days free."

Levan explained concisely. He picked out the parts that Sienna wanted to know and told it to her straightforwardly.

'Twenty-six days. If I consider the time it takes to travel there and come back, will that be enough time to thoroughly inspect the territories?'

"Sir Kali. In fifteen days, I will be leaving to inspect my territories. It will be a long trip, so could you take care of the preparations?"

"Yes, Your Highness. Leave it to me."

Levan answered confidently. There were many people around him who had a knack for packing luggage.

Sienna gazed at Levan's trustworthy response with satisfaction. Then she turned her eyes to the substitute aide-in-training. This person would be Levan's replacement, so they were constantly following Levan around. Now that they were standing side-by-side, she had a clearer view of their differences.

To be honest, she wasn't very happy with the replacement. The replacement was one of the candidates that Countess Pope had recommended. Coming from a humble background, he was very uncomfortable around Sienna. Every time she spoke, he tensed up. Observing the replacement, Sienna saw even more clearly that Levan was unique.

"Your Highness, I would like to accompany you on your trip."

"Why? Doesn't your resignation go into effect a little after fifteen days?"

"I still feel guilty for resigning from my duties so haphazardly. I want to do my very best until the end. I also have a lot of experience when it comes to long trips. If you take me with you, I will be of use."

"I'll have to think about it. I haven't decided on who to bring on my trip just yet."

"Yes, Your Highness."

Levan exited the Palace and headed south. He entered the high-end bar located inside the Raad store. He was guided to a private room and ordered some light liquor.

He took a few gulps on his own. A few moments later, a bulky man entered the room. As soon as Martin sat down, he took a swig of the liquor and frowned.

"Why are you drinking something like this?"

"The Silver King said she will be departing for her territory inspection in fifteen days."

Martin let out a sigh. He didn't really want to go.

"And I plan on going, too."

"You too?"

"It'll be good if she has someone who can remain logical in emergencies."

"There's no need for you to go, though."

"Hey, Kuhn told you to guard her. You said that he wanted me to keep my position as her aide. He did all that because he doesn't want her to get hurt."

Just as Martin guessed, he wasn't able to fool Levan. Therefore, he had already told Levan everything he knew.

"The Princess... What kind of person is she?"

"Mm... I can't really explain it. She's not the type of person you'd come across anywhere else."

"I heard she's an amazing beauty."

"Beauty? That word doesn't even begin to describe her."

Levan recalled the first time he had met Princess Sienna. That day, he realized what 'beautiful and dazzling' truly meant.

"What about her personality?"

"She doesn't mix business with pleasure."

After he told her about his resignation, she never showed any spite towards him during the transitioning period. And he didn't feel like he was being neglected just because he was resigning.

As Levan worked under her, all the prejudices he had of noblewomen were shattered. When Martin had first told him what was going on, he could hardly believe it. However, the more he thought about it, the clearer it became.

"I'm not sure about anything else, but I'm ninety percent sure that Kuhn will be a submissive husband."

Martin's eyes widened as his lips stretched into a grin.

"That's music to my ears."

The two of them snickered as they talked about Kuhn behind his back while clinking their glasses in celebration. As expected, nothing was more enjoyable than making fun of their superior.

The two of them didn't ask questions like, 'Is it really possible for him to marry the Princess?' They were a part of the Raad clan. They blindly put their faith in Kuhn no matter what he did.
