A few days later.
Morning at 8:00, after breakfast.
The servants were putting Laura and Graven's luggage into the carriage while Simon, Rosa, and Sofia watched the couple getting ready to enter the carriage.
Once inside... the couple waved their hands goodbye to the people standing in the doorway as the carriage moves forward heading to the gate.
A few minutes later, the carriage was now exiting the gate of the Helman family farm.
The couple was having a conversation inside the moving carriage.
"Wife, are you sure you want to go with me to the village? It's a long and tiring journey. You might get bored along the way and besides, we don't know what kind of danger we will encounter along the way when we reached that remote place. Although I will protect you with my life - accidents may happen along the way, I'm getting worried for your safety," he vocalized his worries.
Laura pouted. "No need to remind me that, I already made up my mind to go with you no matter how long the journey will take, and no matter the type of danger we are going to encounter as long we are together that's all that matters to me," she said persistently.
Graven sighed. Previously, he used to be okay with his wife accompanying him on the journey but he changed his mind yesterday. Chances are - if they found the King's territory, the worst may happen, not only they will have a hard time rescuing Rebecca there is a big chance those vampires will also get of Laura and that would be double the trouble. Without having to worry about Laura's safety, he and his men can move swiftly.
He used to think that bringing Laura along with him can guarantee him that Luke won't be able to get his hands of his wife, but now that his brother went away and no longer wants to do anything with them, there is no need to feel afraid.
The wisest thing to do is leave Laura in a safe place. The problem is he can no longer persuade her to do just that because her mind was already made up in accompanying him on the journey.
"Wife, if you change your mind we still have enough time to turn around and bring you back to the farm," he offered.
"No way!" she pouted up a storm.
Graven sighed and embraced her. "Alright, we'll go together," he finally said.
"Don't mention sending me away or else I will get angry!" Laura threatened him.
Graven grinned and tickled her sides, she ended up laughing hard in his arms.
Four hours later, noontime.
They stopped for a while in the eatery along the road to eat lunch, have a toilet break, so that the horses can rest.
After done resting and eating lunch, they resumed their journey towards Larnwick Town.
"How many days we will arrive there?" asked Laura while eating the red crispy apple she was holding in her right hand.
"About 9 days..." he replied.
"That's so far, we're still on day one!" Laura retorted.
"Yeah...exactly!" he responded.
"I wonder how is Rebecca doing right now?" she asked gloomily.
"I have a feeling that she's alright... temporarily," he answered.
"I hope so," Laura murmured. "Do you think you and your men will be able to rescue her?" she inquired.
"If she is in Larnwick Town then we might be able to find her, but if she's not in that town, then we have to find another clue of her whereabouts and it might take a long time to rescue her," he responded in a despondent voice.
Laura's face turned sad. "Let's hope she is in that town so that this problem will be over soon," she said, trying to feel optimistic even if her intuition told her otherwise.
"It's the only clue we had, so we have to try finding her there. Hopefully, the castle still stands today so that my men and I can find that place easily," Graven stated.
"Even if the castle already crumbled due to old age - there still skeleton remained on its foundation, but if it's already not habitable then there is no reason that the vampire couple will remain in that place, they might already have migrated into another place," she took a wild guess.
"But they can also erect another castle... destroy the dilapidated structure and construct a new one in the same place, right?" he said.
"Yeah, that's possible. We will know after we arrive there," Graven said.
Hours went by.
They traveled non-stop until the sun already set on the horizon and the night blanketed the land.
At 8:00 in the evening, they found a lodging house for weary travelers. They rented rooms for the night.
Graven rented a much bigger room for him and his wife and another room for the drivers.
After they had eaten their dinner downstairs in the eatery managed by the lodging house they went back to their room to rest for the night.
The couple had already change into their pajama when Graven whispered something into his wife's ears. "We haven't had our honeymoon night, yet? Why is that?" he asked, busy nuzzling her neck.
Laura giggled. "What are you doing now?" she asked.
"Kissing you. Let's have our honeymoon tonight," he said and claimed her mouth for a searing kiss.
