One sunny afternoon.
Laura was walking in the path accompanied by Adela. The path will lead to the back of the house where towering trees are located a few meters away. There's also another garden and a beautiful pond in that area.
The previous owner loves growing ornamental and flowering plants and when they sold the property to Luke, he instructed the servants to continue taking good care of the plants.
Laura sat on the wooden bench under the shade of the tree facing the pond. She put her hands on her belly caressing it gently. She was thinking of her husband, missing him so much! Fresh tears sprang from her eyes and rolled down her face.
Adela saw that the lady was crying, she went to her side. "My lady, why are you crying? Are you not feeling well? Are you sick?" she asked worriedly.
Laura wiped the tears with the back of her hand. "I'm not sick. I'm just thinking of my husband, I missed him so much!" she said and continue crying.
Adela stared at her lady, pitying her condition, but she can't help her and she felt bad about it. "My lady, I'm sorry that I can't help you with your problem," she said.
"It's okay. You don't have to do anything to help me, it's my problem, not yours," Laura said. "Can you bring me something to drink? I'm feeling thirsty," she requested.
"Sure, I'll go to the kitchen and bring you a pitcher of lemonade," Adela said. She left Laura's side and walked on the path leading to the house.
Adela met Luke in the living room.
"Where is Laura?" Luke asked.
"She's in the backyard, watching the pond, my lord," Adela replied.
Luke proceeds to the back of the house to find Laura. He found her crying on the bench.
Laura immediately wiped the tears from her face after seeing him approaching her location.
Luke lowered himself on the bench beside her. "Why are you crying?" he asked.
"I miss my husband so much!" She gave an honest answer not caring if he will get angry or not with her remarks.
Luke released a deep sigh. It pained him deeply that she still can't forget her husband even if they're already living under one roof. Despite the intimate moments they shared, his twin brother is still the one that Laura's heart is longing for. "My brother and I shared the same image. Why did you still miss him? You just have to look at me and you already see your husband," he said.
"You are not Graven, you are not my husband!" she insisted.
"I know, I'm not my brother," Luke said with a gloomy sigh. "You should start forgetting your husband because you will never see him again. It would be impossible for him to find you here," Luke said. "And even if he will find you, I will fight him to the death. I will not allow him to take you away from me without a fight!" he said in a fierce tone.
Laura bit her lip in fear and sadness. The brothers will kill each other because of her. She doesn't want that to happen but she's afraid that sooner or later she can't prevent them from hurting each other.
Now that she's pregnant with her husband's child, the baby's safety and well-being were her top priority. She set aside the thoughts of escaping just to make sure that her baby will grow healthy inside her womb.
Guards are guarding the house in every corner. It would be impossible for her to escape the place without alerting any of them. Escaping would be a useless endeavor if she set it in motion. Besides running around and pregnant won't do her any good. In the meantime, she will endure Luke's presence and authority. She doesn't have any choice at the moment.
A few minutes later.
Adela was approaching the garden, carrying a food tray in her hands.
Luke looked at Laura. "I'm going to sleep in your room tonight," he said and rose to his feet. He left the garden and walked on the path leading back to the house.
Adela put the food tray on the bench. "My lady, your fresh lemonade is here!" she said and poured the liquid from the pitcher into the glass.
Laura accepted the glass of lemonade from the servant. "Thank you."
"I will cut some flowers for the flower vase in your room, my lady," Adela offered.
Laura nodded her head. "Okay, go ahead," she said and sipped the refreshing lemonade while watching Adela picking up colorful daisy flowers near the pond.
A grimace appeared on her lips remembering what Luke had told her a few minutes ago. He's going to spend the night in her room tonight and she knew already what to expect from his voracious sexual appetite.
She released a deep sigh. When will it ever end? Although Luke didn't engage her anymore in rough sex compared to the early days, still she was worried about her baby's condition inside her womb.
She poured more lemonade into the glass and drink it.
Two hours later.
Laura and Adela were done in the garden, they went back to the house.
