They settled on the chair.
Sir Nicholas addressed his son Cooper. "Now that your secret is finally revealed to me, you have nothing to hide anymore. Are you relieved?" he asked his son with sarcasm in his voice.
Cooper released a deep sigh. "I'm so sorry, Father. Please forgive me!" he asked again and again.
Sir Nicholas sighed. "Stop asking my forgiveness over and over again. I have already forgiven you," he replied.
"Thank you so much, Father!" Cooper said. Tears of relief shone in his eyes.
"Now my next question is... who among the two women you are going to marry for real? Is it Sarah or Laura?" Sir Nicholas asked.
Cooper's eyes widened in surprise. "F-Father...what do you mean?"
"You promised Sarah to marry her before. If you marry her now, I won't object. After all, you have two children together. It is important for the children to have complete parents to guide and nurture them in their growing up years," Sir Nicholas explained.
Cooper was stunned by his father's question. He seemed confused for a moment. He scratches his head, feeling conflicted. Then he smiled. "Of course, I will choose Laura!" he said.
Sir Nicholas's brows furrowed. "Huh? Why-? I thought you are going to chose Sarah? You don't want to raise a happy family with her? All you need to do is marry her, and you will have a complete family."
Cooper sighed. "I like Sarah too, but I love Laura the more. I'm thankful that you already accepted Sarah, just in case Laura can't bear a child, you already had grandchildren," he explained.
Sir Nicholas was about to get angry at his son but after hearing his reason, he calmed down a bit, because he got a valid point. Not all women can bear children. "So, you had chosen Laura over Sarah. but why?"
Cooper took a deep breath. "Because I want to obey and respect your order, Father."
"But I'm no longer ordering you to marry Laura. I already give you the freedom to chose. Why do you still choose Laura over Sarah, who is the mother of your children?"
"I no longer love, Sarah. I love Laura the most," Cooper answered.
Sir Nicholas sighed. "But what if I will inform Laura that you already fathered two children before you met her? And what will you do if she changes her mind and no longer marries you after she learned the truth?"
Cooper's face registered alarm and worries. "Father, please... don't tell Laura about Sarah and my children! I want Laura to be my wife. I want to get married in the church with her!" he pleaded.
Sir Nicholas sighed.
Graven was listening silently to their conversation with a blank face.
"So, what is your plan about Sarah and the kids?" Sir Nicholas asks.
Cooper breathed deeply. "I'll respect whatever plan and decision you had for them, Father," Cooper answered wisely. "All I wanted is to see my children whenever I want," he said.
"And how about Sarah? What is going to happen with your relationship with her?" Sir Nicholas asked.
Cooper grinned. "Father, with both women, I can give you one dozen children in just six years!" he joked.
Sir Nicholas stared at his son in disbelief and anger. "Bastard!" he glared at him wanting to punch him in the face.
"Calm down, Father. It's not worth it," Graven holds his father's hands that was forming into a fist.
Cooper was alarmed when his father didn't get his joke. "I'm sorry, Father, I'm just joking! Please forgive me!" he said.
"Get your hands off from Sarah! She suffered enough from your hands. Give her some kind of dignity! You owe her one! Do you understand, Cooper?" he said furiously.
"Yes...Yes...Yes...Father! I will obey your command," Cooper said.
Sir Nicholas took a deep breath. His womanizer son has no sense of guilt and remorse in his heart. He can't believe he was blessed with a son like him. He's hoping that Nicholas and Nikka grow up as a responsible individual and not inherit their father's rotten attitude.
"Get back in the house and bond with your children for one hour. We will wait here until you're done bonding with the kids! Go now before I will punch your face!" Sir Nicholas glared at Cooper.
Cooper rose to his feet. "Thank you, Father!" he said and left the veranda, going back to the house.
Sir Nicholas watched his son entered the house. His head was shaking in annoyance.
Graven's mouth twitched in displeasure.
Sir Nicholas looked at him. "Should we inform Laura about Sarah and the kids? I'm afraid that sooner or later, she will discover about them. I don't want their marriage to get affected by this. Sometimes telling your secret early to your partner can prevent misunderstanding later," he said.
