Chapter 814 - Psychic

Xia Lei couldn’t help but think about this question .

“I’ll call Mister Nahar . He should witness the miracle . ” Salman pulled out her phone .

Xia Lei grabbed Salman’s hand before she called him . “Don't call him . I think it's better to surprise him . ”

Salman frowned . “So, you want me to surprise Mister Nahar . The man who’s waited his whole life for this . Japanese people are so strange . What makes you think I'm going to do this?”

“We’re investors,” said Xia Lei .

“Hmph! I’ll call Mister Nahar now . You have two choices . You can either leave or shut your mouth and stay . Let go of my hands . Otherwise, I'll ask the security to show you out . ” Salman was starting to get irritated .

Xia Lei let go of her hands, but at the same time, he took her phone .

“What are you doing?” Salman got angry . “Get out!”

Xia Lei picked up his backpack from the floor and opened it . He then took out a pile of hundred dollars . It wasn't a small pile . It was a big pile and the amount was at least fifty or sixty thousand dollars .

Salman was stunned .

Xia Lei said in a calm voice . “I don't know how long it's been since you've had a paycheck from Nahar . This is fifty thousand dollars . To be honest, all of you would be dismissed after the experiment . Nahar may have fulfilled his lifelong ambitions, but what do you get from this? You all get nothing! You may even lose your job . ”

Salman hesitated while looking at the pile of dollars . Excitement and greed started to dance in her eyes . The income of the Indians was only one-tenth of a Chinese . However, I don’t believe the experiment you’re working on would succeed . Mister Nahar had discussed the reincarnation project with me but I find it too unrealistic . I simply can’t believe that it would work . That is the reason I’m here . I want to find out first hand if it is possible . If you manage to get it working, I’ll fund a new laboratory where you will work . You will get a better working environment and a higher salary . This is my answer . It’s your turn to make a decision now . ”

Tsukino Kyoko moved her hands behind her back . A sword slipped out of her sleeve . If Salmon rejected the offer, her life would be forfeit .

Salman hesitated . “I need another fifty thousand dollars to give to others . They have not been paid for two months . ”

“No problem . ” Xia Lei took out another pile of cash and gave it to Salman . “However, I have a request . I want their phones after you distribute the money . Then, start the experiment right away . ”

“Alright, Mister Mai . ” Salman's lips curled up into a smile . She couldn’t pronounce ‘Mei’ properly yet .

Salman left after hiding the fifty thousand dollars beneath her clothes . She planned to share the remaining fifty thousand dollars with her colleagues . She also wanted a share of the fifty thousand dollars .

Tsukino Kyoko was watching Salman as Salman was distributing the money . She said, “Boss, do you carry a large amount of cash with you in every operation?”

Xia Lei smiled . “Money has a way of convincing people that guns don’t . I know you were trying to kill that Indian woman, but if you kill her, who's going to carry out the experiment? She works for Nahar because of the money . So, if I give her more money, she'll work for me . ”

“That makes sense . However, I don’t think any amount of money can resurrect the dead . If a man dies, he dies . There is no possibility of resurrection . The people here, including Nahar, are no more than whimsical Frankenstein . ”

“I don’t mind the results . I can just treat it as a firework show . ”

Tsukino Kyoko was speechless .

Salman took a short amount of time to explain the situation to all her colleagues . All of them accepted the offer . They agreed to start the reincarnation experiment immediately and handed in their phones . It was rather easy to make this decision . Their choice was between a boss that had not given paycheck for two months and cash that was worth a few years’ salaries . Anyone in their right mind would have made this decision . Besides, the one who was buying them had no ill intention . He was just buying a front-row seat to the experiment .

Almost all equipment in the laboratory was turned on under the instruction of Salmon . Gu Kewen’s body was also retrieved from the glass container and was put on the operating table of the Divine Hand . Salman operated the Divine Hand herself . She was repairing the damaged nerve in Gu Kewen’s neck .

It was undeniable that Salman’s apperception ability was considerably good as she could operate this after watching Xia Lei’s operation for once .

Xia Lei couldn’t help to reach out and touch Gu Kewen’s calf during the operation . He was stunned after touching the calf . Her calf muscles were still elastic and warm and it was nothing like a corpse . Her skin and muscle should have lost their elasticity as she had been dead for so long .

Xia Lei moved to another corner of the laboratory, where the two corpses were situated .

There was no fabric on the bodies of the two women . It didn’t seem like two corpses . Instead, it was two fine works of art .

Xia Lei couldn’t suppress his curiosity . Once again, he reached out again to touch the calf of the blonde women . It was a soft and elastic calf with normal temperature . He then touched the Asian woman's body . The result was the same .

“How is this possible?” Xia Lei was aghast at his discovery . His gaze fell on Ning Jing’s body . Without hesitation, he approached Ning Jing .

Ning Jing was lying peacefully on the operating table . She was patched with wires and catheters, just like the other two . However, the difference between the corpses and Ning Jing was there was a slight movement from Ning Jing’s chest . It indicated that she was breathing . Her skin and muscle tension were still like a normal person . “Catalyst? Conductor? What conduction? What does this mean?” Xia Lei raised four questions at once .

“Stimulating the soul’s response, bringing in energy to the soul . It’s an essential process during reincarnation . Don’t worry, Mister . You’ll understand it soon . ”  The researcher was annoyed by Xia Lei’s questions . He walked away after giving a brief explanation .

Xia Lei had his understanding after listening to the brief explanation .

The reincarnation experiment was basically an experiment to revive the dead . They preserved the body and medically maximized its proximity to the body of a living person . Then, they awaken the soul by special means to achieve the purpose of resurrection .

The resurrection of the dead was not uncommon in medical history . However, that was only plausible for people who had been dead for a few minutes . Once that time had passed, it was almost impossible for the dead to be alive . The existence of the soul was more of a myth . No one has ever been able to prove the existence of the soul . It only existed in religious settings .  How can a thing that does not exist be made possible by scientific means?

“Hold on…” Just when Xia Lei was refuting the theory based on his understanding, he thought of a special existence . “If souls do not exist in this world, then what is Princess Yongmei, Zhu Xuanyue?”

At this moment, Salman walked towards Xia Lei . “Mister Mai, I have repaired her nerves . It’s time to start the experiment . ”

Xia Lei gathered his thoughts . “Go ahead . I can’t wait to witness the miracle . ”
