Afterword

Hello, everyone! This is Inaka.

Here we are in Volume 9! My goal was secretly to reach ten volumes, so we’re one step away! I’m grateful for all your support.

The stars this time were the three Four Kings and Hahako. And of course, moms. The long Libere Rebellion arc that started with Amante’s first appearance has finally wound to a close. I hope you enjoyed it.

Iida Pochi., my editor K, everyone in editorial and publishing, and all the retail staff have been of invaluable assistance once again. I’d like to take this space to thank them.

About the anime version of Mom…

I was genuinely astonished that it was actually broadcast. That alone was far too much for me, and I was floating on air for days on end.

Thank you to everyone involved in production and the broadcast itself.

Spira Spica, thank you for the lovely opening song. “Iyayo Iyayo Mo Suki no Uchi” is an upbeat number you and your mother can dance to together. On sale now! Also celebrating a year since their major label debut!

The anime led to all kinds of events, to online radio shows filled with lively personalities, to all kinds of merchandise, to a special in Dragon Magazine, to a special comic done by Meicha (who does the manga version of this series), to so many magazine and news articles… I was thrilled and excited by it all. Given the limited space in this afterword, I’m sadly unable to thank them all by name.

By the way…

I secretly went to watch a “Hero event,” where people lie down on Mamako’s lap pillows to watch the anime on the streets of Akihabara. It sure was a sight.

There were way more people than I’d expected, and I didn’t want to keep anyone else waiting their turn, so I elected not to be a Hero. Even though I reeeeally wanted to.

I saw some foreign tourists stop to take a bunch of pictures of the lap pillow event, and that really stuck with me. Watching anime on your mother’s lap may soon become the worldwide standard… That’s a potential future anyway.

By the time this volume reaches you, the anime will be wrapping up. Only the last episode will remain! (Depending on your region and broadcast stations.)

I’ve had more than enough happiness for one lifetime, and yearning for anything more would be far too great an indulgence, clearly asking for trouble, but…well, even as I wrap that up, I do still have ambitions.

Let us hope that more of my dreams come true. I hope I will receive even more support from all of you. Thank you in advance.

Lastly, I received a text from my mother.

“Glad the wind’s blowing your way. Don’t get a big head, though.”

I intend to carve these words into my heart.

Midsummer 2019, Dachima Inaka
