East and the West Choosing the Hunting Grounds
[Uwaa… Holy shit I’m outta here . Let’s leave . ]

We are currently at the Western Forest after departing from the Northern Cave . The monsters around the vicinity of the forest, are green caterpillars that exceeded 1m in size . They also have a black pattern on them, I get goosebumps just looking at them . They wander around the area in groups of more than 10 .
Nuuu, I don’t wanna fight this type of enemy . I’m 100% sure their body fluids will spurt out when attacked .
[Nn? Disgusting you say? I think they look kind of cute though . ]
[O, ou . I forgot how amazing you are . You totally have my respect . ]
I did think her sense was different from the norm, but I didn’t think it was this different . It feels like Noru has somehow become a distant existence .
[That somewhat doesn’t sound like what it really means… So what should we do?]

It’s not really very strong, but they really don’t look compatible with Area Hunting . They also have the troublesome Sticky Thread skill .
[This location looks iffy as well . They have really low agility so luring them will take forever . They also have a boatload of HP . ]
[Muu, that means we won’t be hunting here then . ]
[Let’s just check the rare variant here before we leave . ]

It was decided that this location isn’t suitable for baiting into area hunting, so we’ll only be confirming the rare monster variant and drop items here .
After getting buff support from Estel, Noru stormed out and ripped the caterpillars apart .
Even though she said they were cute, the scene of her cutting them down with no hesitation whatsoever gave me the shivers .
[She did say they were cute, but she still cuts them down anyway…]
[Yeah, as though an unwavering blade . ]
Estel and I joined in the attack, and we cleared out all the caterpillars in the forest’s vicinity . I really don’t like this spine-chilling feeling I get whenever I stab them with Bar . I‘m definitely not hunting here again .
The drop item are Silk Cocoons . It was creepy enough that they are caterpillars, but the items felt good to touch as I collected them . They feel like the sort of material clothes would be made out of in this world .
After I finished collecting the items, we then waited for the rare variant to spawn .
And a few minutes later . A massive caterpillar about 5m in size came tumbling out of the forest as it mowed down trees in its path . Fluffy fur can be seen growing out of its body here and there .
[Uhyaa!? That’s ultra gross, big momma chicken this location is super bad . ]
[Oh you’re so exaggerating so much Okura-dono . You should take a closer look . Those lovely round eyes, that soft looking body . Isn’t it cute?]
She gently speaks to me .
The heck are you talking about . The only thing I can see is how disgusting it is!
[Surely Estel understands where I’m coming from, right?]

[E, Estel? Eh? Am I the only one who is weird here? Okura-dono, Estel, can you two just say something!?]
When she asked Estel, Estel just averts herself with a slight smile .
It looks like she(Noru) has finally noticed that she is abnormal, but I ignore her because it’s only going to be trouble if I react to her now .
I’ll confirm the status of this disgusting fellow for now .

These things really have a crap ton of HP . Additionally it has the dirty HP Absorption ability . Also, it can self destruct too .
There were enemies that had the self destruct skill back in GC, it’s another dirty skill which causes damage in the immediate area after the monster is defeated .
[Now then, let’s get to hunting the rare variant . Estel, are you ready?]
[Yeah, I’m good to go, Onii-san]
[I’m getting left out like it’s natural!? Both of you, don’t ignore me~]
Ignoring the lamenting Noru behind us, we prepare to deal with the Digger which was heading toward us .

We are now heading to the Eastern hunting ground after we safely dealt with the Digger .
It was eventually defeated by Estel’s magic . I didn’t want to touch that fluffy fur at all, so I got it barbecued with fire magic .
In the end it self destructed, smoke raised from its body after it scattered what looked like acidic fluid all over the area it in its dying breath .
I wouldn’t want to fight something like that under any circumstance . Its drop item is the same Silk Cocoon as the normal caterpillar, just much bigger .
[Muu…]
[Hey, how long are you going to stay dejected for . It was our fault, okay?]
[We were only joking with you, alright?]
Looks like she’s still grumpy from us ignoring her earlier . She, who was sitting behind me on the carpet, was fidgeting with her index fingers in front of her chest .
[Then, do you two think that those monsters we hunted earlier are cute?]

I turned and faced Estel who was beside me . Then we both nodded and stayed silent .
To each their own . It’s not nice to outright refute her, so I think the best would be to not touch on the subject at all .
[Ahー, right . Anyway looks like we have reached the next hunting ground . Do take care when alighting~]

I decided to cut off on the topic as we have arrived at our destination .
Noru grabbed my shoulders and glared at my face but I ignore her . She kept doing “jiiiiiii” right beside my ear . Her face is so close to mine .
[This place gives off eerie vibes . ]
[Sure feels that way, are those the monsters that appear here?]
I set aside the girl who is stuck beside me for the moment and check the hunting grounds .
Countless long and slender stalactites pierced out of the ground, it was a lonesome looking landscape void of any greenery . As though a graveyard .
Towards what looks like monsters where Estel was pointing at, were dozens of “things” that had white humanoid upper bodies and no face .
A, are those… Don’t tell me…
[Kyaー!? Ghosts, ghosts have appeared!?]
[Yeawch!? Wha-, Okura-dono! Don’t just suddenly cling onto me like that!]
I let out a scream and jumped onto Noru and hugged her, both of us then fell together .
It’s ghosts, friggin ghosts . Are you telling me they seriously exist in this world . I’m bad at dealing with the ghostly type of stuff .
[Onii-san what’s wrong?]
[But, y’know, those are ghosts . Aren’t you afraid?]
[Isn’t being afraid of ghosts pointless?]
[… . I guess so . ]
[Uuu, if you’re going to accept it that easily then I’d wish you didn’t cling onto me like that . ]

Thinking back there’s already “monsters” in this world, it’s not weird for there to be ghost type monsters .
Besides you can defeat these ghosts in this world .

Our compability with them looks bad . Their decent-ish HP and 60 magic resistance makes for a bad comparison with our efficiency in the Northern Cave .
They can also use ranged attacks with Telekinesis which only makes it worse .
[Hーmm, this place looks iffy as well . Their magic resistance is too high . ]
[So, does that mean we will be hunting at the Northern Cave?]
[That’s how it is… Noru, I really feel bad about this, but can we depend on you?]
[Fufuー, just leave it to me . ]
In the end, all the other locations were no good except the Northern Cave efficiency-wise . We’ll probably go to the other places as a change of pace every so often .
I’m really grateful to Noru for being willing take the bait role . I’ll need to reward her properly some other time .
We’ll be heading back after completing our objective of confirming the rare variant in this location .
Due to some inexplicable reason ghosts in this world are susceptible to physical attacks, I can pierce them with Bar with no problems . More like the body part that gets attacked disappears .
After eliminating the whole body, it drops a white marble-sized gem . So this is their drop item .
We annihilate the ghosts, collect the drop items and wait for the rare variant to spawn .
After some time, light starts to gather and the ghosts begin respawning . Amongst them, a 2m tall skeleton in black armor appeared . It wielded a blue-ish large sword and shield .
[That’s the rare variant here huh . ]
[What splendid looking bones . I’m sure it was a master fighter back when it was alive . ]
[It’s a monster so regardless to its past life that’s just how it looks from the very start isn’t it?]
Yeah, I don’t think there’s stuff like past lives . Time for a status check .

Uwah, I so don’t want to deal with this fellow . I’m pretty sure Resolute Soul is an ability that prevents death from a fatal attack leaving behind 1 HP .
The Last Battalion skill, is a skill that cuts all damage taken by 50% when there are no allies in the immediate vicinity . This monster is totally unsuitable for bait hunting at all .
[Uーnn, let’s see . Estel, can you aggro 1 other ghost along with the Death Knight? Then also restrict that ghost . ]
[Suーre, leave it to me . ]
[After Estel successfully aggros the Death Knight, Noru will block its way when it gets close . ]
[Understood!]
If you were to hunt it normally, you will need to deal with multiple targets as there are always several ghosts around the Death Knight . So the plan is to restrain 1 ghost nearby so it won’t activate its Last Battalion skill, we then smack it until it’s completely dead .
Estel attacks the 2 targets with magic to aggro them . Before the ghost moves into attacking range, she restricts it using the magic that she used on me last night .
Noru then pops in Death Knight’s way and lands an attack, which slows its action speed by half . This is the golden pattern .
Then as usual me and Noru gank on the Death Knight, after a minute or so it turns into light particles and becomes a drop item . I sorta feel bad for the monster to be defeated like this .
The dropped item is an armor fit for human use .
Muu, it almost looked like the sword and shield dropped . Maybe those are rare items?

[Fuu, after all that work it’s evening already . ]
[We managed to go through all the spots before night time in 1 day, I think that’s pretty good already . ]
[I’m, feeling shooo hungry . ]
[Hope you two don’t mind heading to the Adventurers’ Guild, we’ll only be getting confirmation for our proof of subjugation . ]
The sky has become dyed in the color of the evening, right when we completed going around all the hunting areas .
Somehow, compared to the Eagle Warriors, I feel like the other hunting areas caused more mental fatigue .
In order to receive the subjugation reward for the monsters that we have been defeated today, we’ll make a quick stop at the Adventurers’ Guild before returning to our inn . Starting from tomorrow we will be hunting at the Northern Cave .
[Excuse me, can someone have a look at our proofs of monster subjugation . ]
[Ah, it’s Okura-san . Now then, please present the proofs of subjugation . ]
We entered the guild, we then went straight to the counter for confirming monster subjugation . The one who received us, was the buxom Wizzy-chan . I can’t help taking glances at her .
When I placed the drop items onto the designated space on the receptionist counter, Wizzy-chan somehow looked very surprised .
[O,Okura-san!? Wh, what is going on here! Stinger’s Shell, Digger’s Cocoon, Death Knight’s Armor . These are all items from monsters that can only be hunted by high tier B rank adventurers!]
[Ahー, we just happened hunt them while we were trying some stuff out . ]
[To make it sound like defeating those monsters was just an extra bonus… So the talk of them beating Dhius-sama really is true . ]
Ahー, uhh . Yep . All of those monsters were the same class as the Eagle Warrior Chief .
Rather there’s also high and low tiers within B rank huh .
I’m planning on hunting Stingers en masse starting from tomorrow… I’m kind of afraid at what kind of reaction I’ll get, when I bring in the proofs of subjugation .
