He picked up the line quickly . She heard his deep and resonant voice on the other end, “Hello . ”
It had only been a week without seeing him, but hearing his voice made her feel as though they were worlds apart . But it also felt like Zi Chuan had never left her .
She said, “It’s me . ”
“I know . ”
The two of them fell silent again .
They had not spoken to each other since the time she had realized he was Zi Chuan and she had called to tell him she was Xiao Qiao .
