Demon King Army, Doing their Upmost in Battle

Maou stood in the middle of Villa Rosa Sasazuka Room 201.
Iron was standing next to him. As if they were surrounding the space, Amane, Lailah, Emi and Urushihara were standing in the four corners of the room. As for Chiho and Nord, they opened the kitchen window, looking into the room from the common corridor.
Kinanah was still lying in the cage in the corner of the room, sleeping as usual, and Camio, whose feathers had somewhat regained its shine, was on top of the cage with a tense expression on his face.
“Then, I’m starting.”
After Iron said this, he touched Maou’s right hand. “Acies, come out.”
“Alright!”
“That’s too easy!”
Because the process was too simple, Chiho could not help but shout this from the corridor.
As if she was a radish or a sweet potato being plucked out from the fields, Acies separated from Maou.
“Are there any changes in your physical condition?”
In response to Urushihara’s question, Maou answered while feeling perplexed. “No, I don’t feel anything.”
“How about Acies?”
“I don’t feel anything. But I’m hungry.”
Her last sentence was ignored by everyone.
“Ugh! If you ignore me, I’m going to pluck off all of Camio’s feathers and barbecue him!” “D, damn it! Stop that chirp!!”
“Hey, Acies, be quieter. You’ll wake Kinanah up.”
After Maou spoke sharply towards the corner with had an atmosphere of wilderness where the chicken and lizard were held, he looked towards the others.
“Just like what everyone saw, things have become a little troublesome.” “You mean that astronaut is not Ignora?”
“No one had seen that person’s face after all. But Lailah feels that person is Ignora, right?”
“That’s right……Their aura is similar, or their actions are similar. We have parted ways a long time ago, so I am unable
to confirm this, but the voice has some resemblance.”
“You can still hear the voice of the person even when they’re inside a spacesuit?”
“I, I don’t know either.”
Everyone had believed that the astronaut was Ignora, but right now, they were having doubts. The fact that only Lailah and Gabriel knew Ignora was also a serious issue.
Urushihara had said that his memories had become fuzzy, and he might not even recognise her face and voice. As for Lailah, her situation was just like what she just said.
“B, but this is considered an emergency, right? We need to contact Ashiya-san and Suzuno-san as quickly as possible.”
Chiho was very reasonable, but Emi replied with a troubled expression on her face.
“If it’s possible, it’s still best if they are the ones to contact us. After all, Alsiel and Rika have been attacked by the Hakin Knights here in the past, and currently, we cannot confirm which people are keeping watch on the Central Continent. At least before Em or Bell contact us, it would be best to avoid interaction between the two worlds.”
“They did say that they would definitely be monitored, but this……”
“I vote for Sasaki Chiho. The ones we want to protect might be the enemy. With this kind of information, even if we
have to take some risks, it would be best to convey it as soon as possible.”
“I admit that what you say makes sense, but it can’t be done. It would be alright if we’re the only ones in danger but considering the Hakin Knights and the subordinates of Lumark, Em and Bell from the Western Continent, we need to be cautious in everything we do.”
Emi did not disagree with Urushihara’s words, but she still shook her head and rejected his opinion.
Thanks to the backing from the Unifying Azure Emperor and Heather Lumark, they were able to ensure the safety of the area surrounding the Demon Fortress and Maou and the others.
After all, there were still people suggesting the demolition of the Demon Fortress under the supervision of the Five Continent Knight Alliance to rebuild Isla Kentorum.
The reason why Maou and the others were able to gather the surviving Vagrant Demons, repair the Demon Fortress and obtain enough time so that the Demon Fortress would be able to fly into the air on its optimal path was all due to the assistance from the Unifying Azure Emperor and Heather Lumark, as well as the Knights under them from various countries who were at the scene.
If the Church knew their location, it would definitely develop into an international issue. Not only would it affect them, it might even cause war in the human world.
That was the risk which Emi was talking about.
“Haah, I personally feel that causing some chaos will help hinder the actions of the Church Knights, but all of you would probably be unable to accept it. We had successfully found the Legacies already, but in the end, our chances of victory just decreased like this.”
“Not only that, Kinanah even ended up like this chirp.”
Urushihara’s and Camio’s comments caused the atmosphere to turn heavy.
“But……what is the actual situation? Acies, do you have any impression of that astronaut?” “Eh? I don’t know.”
“You were attacking so angrily, and you’re saying you don’t know.”
Lailah said this in surprise, but Acies only shrugged and answered,
“At that time, I felt like I did not know that person.”
“But from Iron’s demonstration just now, and the fact that Alas=Ramus and I were easily separated, rather than saying the other party was an angel, being one of the Sephirah children would be more likely.”
“No, with that, our pretext for attacking Heaven would become strange. If the Sephirah children can go out normally,
then we don’t need to save them at all.”
“Eh?! This is different from what we discussed! Aren’t we saving everyone!”
“I’m the one who wants to say it’s different from what we discussed. We heard that Alas=Ramus and your comrades were captured and used by the angels, that’s why we want to attack Heaven and rescue them. However, not only can the party to be rescued by us move freely, they have even become our enemy. Isn’t that too different?”
“That could just be a coincidence! Such as not knowing the situation and only wanting to save me and Nee-sama or
something like that!”
“Acies, that’s impossible. That astronaut recognised that I was Lailah and had planned to oppose us from the beginning.” “Firstly, then Acies, you just gave your comrade a severe trashing.”
“Ah.”
Acies, who had not realised this until now, showed a stony expression when she discovered the contradictions in her reasoning.
“Could it be because she went berserk?”
Emi looked at Iron.
“My fight with Iron at the Fukutoshin Line was because of that reason.” “Is that so? I’m not too sure myself.”
“It’s alright, Iron. There are too little examples right now, so the more information we can reference, the better.”
Maou comforted Iron who still felt guilty over his loss of control and continued to speak,
“And even if was a loss of control, the angels would not ignore it. Ignoring Iron who left their control after the incident at the Eastern Continent, if they just let the Sephirah children move on their own without any control over their own behaviour, this means that Heaven is unable to control the Sephirah.”
Maou’s sentence caused everyone to exchange looks with each other, and one thought came to their mind.
“As expected, that bastard Gabriel is hiding something.”
“If not, there is something going on which even Gabriel does not know about.”
“When we met him before, he insisted that he did not know that astronaut. No one believed him though.”
“I have already finished reading the information Sariel provided. Just like what Satan said, there are many strange
areas.”
“Ah, that envelope.”
Chiho looked at the envelope in Lailah’s hand, feeling surprised. “What’s that?”
Emi answered Nord’s question in a simple manner.
“That is what Sariel knows about Heaven and the angels. Bell and I did ask Sariel similar things before.” After Emi explained it, Lailah looked at Emi’s side profile and spoke, sounding more perplexed,
“After reading the information, it feels that Gabriel and I have serious misinterpretations. Of course, it’s the same for Sariel.”
“Haah, the pretext is that Lailah’s memories are correct.” “Hey, Satan!”
Lailah glared at Satan who rebuked her halfway and continued,
“The history of Heaven and the angels which Sariel knows, is completely different from what I know.” “……What’s going on?”
The husband asked this from outside the window, causing the wife to answer with a dark expression,
“Exactly what those words mean. For example, what he knows of Lucifer, or what he knows about the first and second
generation of the angels, various places are different.”
“I don’t really remember the past, but I vaguely feel that some information written on it is a little strange. I feel that an angels’ meeting should be held under someone’s supervision. Sariel and I will also attend. Because of that, it’s best to establish contact with Ente Isla.”
“Yeah……”
Urushihara continued to speak to Emi, who looked troubled,
“This is an emergency. I think we cannot wait for Bell and the others to contact us and take the initiative to contact them instead. That place may be watched by various factions, but something like the Idea Link spell is used around the world. The strange dream of those old guys from the Church only happened one week ago, yeah? It’ll be fine.”
“Haah, that’s true……just a call should be fine, right?” “That kind of carelessness would normally invite death.” “Amane-san, don’t say that.”
Maou protested against Amane’s nasty rebuke, but considering that Emerada, Lumark and Suzuno had returned to their own homeland and jobs, any careless actions can harm their positions.
“At least if someone is able to help be the middleman for the communication……”
Just as Emi said this----
“Ah, sorry, it’s my phone.”
A phone rang and Chiho, in the corridor, took out her phone frantically.
“Ah!”
When Chiho opened the screen, she shouted inside with a smile.
“It’s Emerada-san! Emerada-san contacted us!!” “Ohh!!”
“Really?!”
Everyone received the contact they wanted the most at the best time. Chiho pressed the call button happily.
“Hello! Emerada-san, this is Chiho, erhm……eh?”
However, her expression and voice, gradually became less cheerful----
“W, why?”
Then slowly showed signs of surprise, causing a stir in the surrounding atmosphere.
Chiho’s eyes widened, gulped once, and finally said something.
“Why, are you using Emerada-san’s mobile phone……!”
This sentence caused everyone to tense up. The one who called was not Emerada.
But it was someone Chiho knew.
“What……has happened? Farfar-san.”
The voice coming from the phone came from Farfarello, who should have stayed at the Demon Fortress in the Central Continent.
“Farfarello…… could it be……”
Feeling surprised, Maou stood up.
“Chi-chan, can you pass the phone to me?”
“Ah, al, alright. Erhm, Farfar-san, I’m passing the phone to Maou-san, ah Demon King-sama, alright?”
Chiho, who was surprised, entered the room together with Nord and passed the phone to Maou. Maou accepted the phone with a tense expression on his face.
“Farfarello, where are you now? North? East? Or South?” “Eh?”
Maou’s question gave Emi a shock.
“Seriously? The North huh. That means Ashiya did a good job. It does feel that the old woman is harder to handle than the Unifying Azure Emperor after all. Yeah, yeah.”
From Maou’s reply, even though he did not expect to receive any contact from Farfarello, he clearly knew what
Farfarello was doing now.
“Then from now on, we will be able to make contact and move from the North Continent. Good job. With this,
everything would be able to proceed smoothly.” “Demon King, what are you saying……”
Maou waved away Emi’s question.
“Ah~ I thought you were more suitable because you have some understanding of Japan, but you’re the top Chieftain right now, so I can’t ask you to do this. The situation here is very urgent, is Libicocco or Ciriatto available? Oh, I see.”
What Maou said in the next moment shocked not just Emi, but Urushihara and Chiho as well.
“Then send Libicocco to Japan. I want him to work at my workplace. Manpower is currently low here.” “Eh?”
“Huh?” “Haaaahhhhhhhhh?!”
The one who gave the most exaggerated shout, was of course, Emi.
“What? What’s wrong with everyone?”
Acies was the only one who could not follow the conversation and was left out.

Rewinding time a little.
This place had far exceeded the standard of hot.
“The sunlight feels like stabbing needles.”
“This place is better than the Flame Road. That place is really hell on Earth.”
As they looked toward the horizon, all they saw was golden sand. Looking up, a cloudless sky.
Two tall men were standing in a huge expense of desert.
“What kind of history made it possible for humans to build a country in this kind of place.”
“It’s an oasis city. And humans cannot survive if they do not have water. Behind that wall is a comfortable city.”
Following Alberto’s directions, Ashiya looked towards the city walls which had a similar shade to the desert.
“I hope so.”
The six people, including the human Chiho and the angels, had their breakfast meeting the day before. This was the Great Otulima Desert which split the Southern Continent to their north and south sides. Ashiya and Alberto were currently in the middle of the huge desert.
In front of both their sights were city walls which could make people think it was the end of the desert. That was the strongest warrior country of the Southern Continent, Wathewlama City.

“Oh~ two years have passed, and they have changed it to a shiny new door.”
There was a huge wooden gate in the wall which looked like a piece of art.
“When we first visited this place, that door had been run through by the lizards.” “Lizards……is it the Dragonicks living in the Great Otulima Desert?”
“Oh, you’re knowledgeable.”
“Is it really possible for such a thing to happen? That door looks huge and sturdy, and the Dragonicks are about this
large at most, right?”
After saying this, Ashiya spread his arm as if he was holding a rather large ball.
“That’s right. If we did not see it with our own eyes, we probably would not have believed it. The force of nature is really scary. Haah, thanks to that, I got to know the Warrior Leader here. Let’s go, it’s about time he sent people out to welcome us.”
“Yeah.”
The two of them began to advance towards the city wall in the desert.
Underneath the cloth used to protect against the sun, Ashiya began to regret not bringing along the sunblock which had the worst reviews on online shopping sites. It had been bought by Maou during a sale.
Regardless of how advanced Japan’s textile industry was, the clothes Ashiya brought were not enough to protect
against the heat of the desert.
He could have asked Alberto to prepare clothes worn by the inhabitants of the desert beforehand, but Ashiya simply underestimated the heat of the desert.
“Hey, you don’t look well, are you alright?” “Ugh……yeah, I can still handle it.”
Ashiya and Alberto did not cross the desert on foot.
They first used a Gate to reach a location two kilometres south of Wathewlama City.
This was to respect the international rule of not using a Gate to invade the territory of other countries, but Ashiya had thought that walking two kilometres in a desert would be easy.
However, once Ashiya walked out of the Gate, he immediately realised that the source of the heat within the desert did not come from the sun alone.
Not only would the white sand absorb the heat from the sun, it would also reflect the sunlight, causing the body to heat up from all angles.
The shoes Ashiya wore were the thin soled sport shoes he normally wore at the Demon Fortress or Japan, so his soles were so hot that it felt as if he was walking on fire while barefoot.
He was also sweating continuously.
Because the surface temperature was too high, the sweat evaporated before they could start flowing. It was only a short two kilometre journey, but it felt really long.
“Oh, they came.”
Alberto noticed that sand was being kicked up in front of them, and a warrior, carrying something like a spear, was approaching on a camel.
“Lord Alberto Ende, sorry for the wait!”
A youth with strong facial characteristics possessed by desert inhabitants jumped off the camel, running towards Alberto, smiling slightly under his headscarf.
“Welcome! Warrior Leader Lagides was looking forward to your arrival!” “Thank you for coming out to welcome us. I’m sorry this was so sudden.”
“Don’t say that. Lord Alberto and Lady Hero Emilia as well, both of you are the saviours of Wathewlama City. That day, we swore to the skies that Wathewlama City will welcome your visits anytime……do you still remember me?”
“Hm?”
The soldier who came out to welcome them took out the long and thin weapon in a rather shy manner and held it out to Alberto.
That thing which looked like a spear was actually a broom made out of bamboo.
“Ahh! I remember you were the one who also came out to meet us that time……!”
“Yes. I, who led everyone around that time, later obtained the honourable title of Warrior. This time, I am the bodyguard and guide assigned to the both of you. My name is Ghani Vyde.
After the cavalry introduced his name, he bowed slightly.
When Alberto first visited Wathewlama City, this country was on the brink of death.
The lizards known as Dragonicks which Ashiya mentioned just now would gather in the desert and perform a great migration during breeding season.
The numbers can swell to ten thousand of them, and when a large group of lizards move together, it would be just like the dragon in the ancient legends.
Wathewlama was attacked by an unprecedented large group of lizards, which caused damage to the city walls and gate.
If they were trampled on again during the return trip from the great migration, Wathewlama, with its city walls completely destroyed, would simply perish. At that time, Alberto and the others, who happened to come here, rallied everyone in the country to capture the lizards which remained within and around Wathewlama city, organising a barbecue event as the lizards returned.
The Dragonicks, which were very sensitive to the dangers faced by their own kind, decided that Wathewlama was a dangerous place, and just like that, Wathewlama City avoided the attack from the lizards on their return journey, avoiding the crisis of their country being destroyed.
After that, Ghani guided Alberto and the others through the Flame Road in the south, and for a short while, he joined them to fight against Malacoda’s army who had invaded the Southern Continent at that time.
“I see. Oh my, so you made it big!”
Alberto happily recounted the past with Ghani, but in this place, where it felt like a poached egg could be cooked from the air temperature alone, there was no need to recount anything at all.
“……I’m sorry, but can the both of you chat later?”
Ashiya asked Alberto this in a hoarse voice.
“Oh, sorry. This person isn’t that used to the desert, let’s quickly……hey?” “……Nngh.”
But Ashiya’s field of vision was rapidly going hazy---- “Hey, what’s wrong, could it be……”
Before Ashiya could finish listening to Alberto, he lost consciousness.
When he woke up, the first thing he saw was the canopy of a black oak wooden bed. Ashiya moved his creaking joints and got up, noticing that he seemed to be indoors.
Comfortable wind blew in from the open windows, swaying the lace curtains handing down from the canopy.
On the other side of the curtain, Ashiya saw something which looked like a water jug and suddenly felt thirsty, he jumped off the bed and hugged the water jug.
“Gulp……gulp”
The warm water which could not be considered as cold still greatly moistened Ashiya’s dry throat. After he drank half of the jug in one go, Ashiya finally had the leisure to investigate his surroundings. The city streets could be seen from the window.
In the spacious area he was in, there was a tiled floor and a ceiling made from exquisitely sculpted rock.
With one look, it could be seen that the bed, water jug and various furniture were premium items.
“……This place is?” “Oh, you’re awake.”
Ashiya turned towards the source of the voice and noticed Alberto appearing together with a burly man who was one whole size bigger than him.
“Aa……did I faint from heat exhaustion?”
“Hahaha! I never thought that a great Demon General would faint due to the desert heat! If you were the one who came to the Southern Continent that time, our battle might be a little easier!”
Compared to Alberto, not only was the burly man a full head taller, his arm was one size thicker as well. Both of them were tanned, but his skin was darker than Alberto’s and he had a dense beard.
“Welcome, demon incarnate. I am the ruler of this country, Lagides Raz Ryan.”
The burly man was the leader of the warrior country Wathewlama, Warrior Leader Lagides.
Even if he was in his fifties, his body was still filled with energy, just like that of a person in their thirties. Ashiya nodded in response and stood up with unsteady steps.
“I am Demon General Alsiel. Warrior Leader Lagides, I apologise for showing you something this unbecoming.”
“Don’t worry about it. To make it possible to kill you any time, a group of men who are the strongest in the Southern Continent and are on par with Alberto are currently on standby outside this room. However, even if they are the strongest warriors in the Southern Continent, they are still scared to death of you. So you’re not the only one who feels embarrassed.”
The burly man, who could only be described as inhibited, approached Alsiel.
“You look human no matter how much I stare at you.”
“I am human right now. I am intentionally not absorbing any demonic magic and not appearing in demon form. If I am attacked by the strong warriors from your esteemed country, I would probably not last very long.”
“Oh? I heard from Alberto that you wish to discuss something very special with me. As one of the Generals who caused the whole world to be enveloped in fear, what is your reason for coming?”
“It’s with regards to the future of ?humans ?, and the future of this country.”
Ashiya’s looked straight into the eyes of Lagides, which were as dark as that of obsidian.
Lagides did not hide the fact that he was currently carefully considering Ashiya’s words, then smirked and said, “So demons would also talk about the future.”
“Because demons are also living things.”
In the past, barely any humans have considered this.
Regardless of how strong and how scary demons were, they were still living things, and would think about the future.
“Alberto, how long can you stay in this country.”
“I will stay until you judge that Alsiel would not be a threat, but actually I want to go back already.”
“Hohoho, I see. Then please stay until tomorrow morning. I have some things to ask you. After all, there’s only sand, sky and wind here. Even if we are discussing some rather radical issues, it would disappear into the desert before word of this reaches anyone’s ears.”
After Lagides said this, he used his large fist to tap Ashiya’s shoulder lightly.
“You still look very pale. I will send someone to deliver some fruits with a cooling effect later. For any matters, we can talk about them at night.”
“……Thank you for your thoughtfulness.”
“After you recover, I’ll allow you to freely tour the country with Alberto as your escort. This is a small country, but General of the Demon King Army, you probably can understand that this place is essential to the Southern Continent.”
Around two hours after that, Ashiya who finally regained his health arrived at the city streets of Wathewlama with Alberto and Ghani as his guides.
Wathewlama was a well-planned city where even the city divisions were planned out in great detail.
The fort where the Warrior Leader lived was beside the spring water in the oasis. As the source of the water in the oasis came from groundwater, with the well which could draw up the groundwater as the centre, there were many house made from dried brick built together like longhouses.
The northern side the city had a huge field which made it hard to believe that this place was a desert, there were many melon plants grown there, such as the watermelons which would be sent to Ashiya’s room later.
“These melons, are they only for food?”
In response to Ashiya’s question, Ghani shook his head.
“There is precious water content within the flesh, but if the skin is burnt into ashes and mixed with a small amount of water, it can be used as a surfactant.”
“I see, it can be used to clean things.”
“It’s just that it’s a little different from the thing known as soap in the western and eastern continent. Wathewlama is an oasis with a high water output, but the amount of water which can be obtained by everyone is still limited. So rather than washing it clean, it’s more like scraping off the dirty portion.”
Other than burning them to ashes, another method would be to sun dry the skin. As long as the dried skin absorbed some water and the clothes were rubbed together with the ash from earlier, they could use the ash which would not be absorbed by the cloth to suck up the sebum and pat it off together with the ash.
“Then how do you get salt?”
“In our country, salt is considered valuable commodity. If we rely too much on the Harlan Nation’s merchant circles in the south, we will be unable to maintain the neutrality of the warrior nation, so we will send selected warriors through
the Flame Road and to the harbour city in the south of the continent to buy them. Therefore, this is only sold by the country.”
“About meat, I heard you eat Dragonicks.” “It tastes quite nice.”
Alberto explained, and Ghani nodded in agreement.
“That is a traditional dish in my country. Because it is hard to store, we only hunt what is necessary during their breeding season.”
“I see. Then what is that?”
Ashiya pointed towards the east wall.
Many people had safety ropes secured to a place above them and they stuck on the wall.
“Ah, you’re talking about that?”
Ghani looked towards Alberto, showing a hesitant attitude.
“Don’t worry. Currently, they are completely different from the demons we know.” After Alberto sensed Ghani’s uneasiness, he said this.
“……I understand. We are actually going to start the project to extend the city walls, they are doing pre-work
inspections.”
“It’s to extend the walls, and not repairing it?” “It’s not wrong if you describe it as repairing.” Ghani said it while showing mixed feelings.
“Wathewlama is a country with limited land, so there is a birth restriction, but the birth rate in the recent years have been dropping. Therefore, after the end of the battle with the Demon King Army, we started to extend the city walls and increase the size of the country, planning to increase the number of people which we can contain.”
“……”
Even if Ashiya was shocked that Wathewlama was keeping track of the population, he still nodded with a neutral expression.
“Haah, but this is just the start, currently they are investigating the areas which had weakened because of the conflict with the Dragonicks earlier, and after that, those areas have to be demolished and rebuilt, so this is a project which would take more than five years.”
“Five years huh.”
For a country without abundant resources and people, it would probably need that much time to complete that kind of huge project.
“Even if it is only temporary, there will still be openings in the wall, right? Asking this might not be appropriate, but won’t people take the opportunity to attack you then?”
Alberto’s question caused Ghani to show a troubled smile, but he still replied nonchalantly,
“At least, it would be impossible when Warrior Leader Lagides is still alive. In this Great Otulima Desert, no one can
win against Wathewlama.”
This was neither confidence nor pride. To Ghani, this was a natural situation.
“We are strong. Wathewlama is the largest and only supply point in the Great Otulima Desert, the bridge connecting the north and south of the Southern Continent. Turning this place into a battlefield is the same as making the whole Southern Continent an enemy.”
“……If that’s the case, then you would not need the city walls anymore, right?”
Ashiya could not help but mumble this.
Based on Ghani’s explanation, the city walls had no other function other than creating the country boundary which could be seen.
Of course, it might have been used to guard against the attack from the Dragonicks, but thanks to Alberto and the rest, a counter-strategy had already been established for this.
There were no enemies which would attack them, yet they had to maintain such a huge city wall, it would cause a huge burden on the national treasury, right?
After that, Ghani looked at Ashiya in shock, but after remembering that the man in front of him was actually a different species known as a demon despite looking like a human, he nodded and replied,
“People who think that this world would still be peaceful tomorrow without any basis would simply be idiots.”
Ghani declared.
“Warriors train themselves because they know that a war might happen tomorrow. Merchants save up money because they know it might be needed tomorrow. Because there are people who diligently prepare for tomorrow, that is why there is peace today. This daily accumulation will support the Wathewlama of ten years, fifty years or even one hundred years later, and the people who live here. As long as Wathewlama stands strong, the Southern Continent will not be shaken. If we let our guard down just because nothing has happened so far, it will only bring forward the demise of the country. Warrior Leader Lagides probably has at most ten years left of battling on the frontlines. After all, humans can only live to one hundred at most.”
“……Yes, you are correct.”
Compared to humans, the change in generations were extremely slow.
The warrior in front him who was passionately talking about the future of the country would only live for less than one-tenth of Ashiya’s age.
Even so, his eyes possessed a much clearer vision of tomorrow and the future than Ashiya’s. “Such a good country.”
Ghani was extremely satisfied with Ashiya’s reaction and started to lead him to the next location.
“What do you think of our Wathewlama?”
“It’s a strong country. It’s not just the battle ability, but more like the citizen mindset cultivated from the harsh weather conditions and geographical environment? Even so, the citizens do not discriminate against the weak or minorities, this is great as well.”
Night time.
Ashiya attended the dinner party organised by Warrior Leader Lagides, accepting the informal welcome.
“I noticed the Church from the Theocracy in the city outskirts, when was that built?”
“That was built two hundred years ago by a travelling priest. That travelling monk was deported by Harlan Nation after they determined he was spreading an ?evil religion?and was saved by the citizens of Wathewlama after he got lost in the desert. Because he was grateful for this kindness offered, he settled down here until he became part of the wind
and sand. Currently about one-tenth of Wathewlama citizens are devotees of the Theocracy.” “Oh, that’s a lot.”
“This is the first time I heard of it. Won’t that cause any conflict? The whole Southern Continent is mainly made up of believers of the Sun God.”
“According to the records, huge conflicts have never occurred before. I don’t know how it’s like at Harlan Nation, but at least in Wathewlama, no one discriminates against those with a different religion. Because the current priestess in charge of that Church is very beautiful, I will even go there every month.”
Lagides had jokingly said some crass words, but as long as Lagides, the ruler of the country did such a thing, it meant that the Theocracy had been acknowledged by the country.
Of course, Lagides had done such things because he considered this point.
“It’s not just the Theocracy, you know? Amongst the people managing the farmland, there are many who are devotees of the Mountain Faith of the Northern Continent, of course there are also people who believe in the Sun God. Even if there are not many believers, but there are also shrines of the Spiritual Gods from the East. If both of you came earlier, you would be able to see the holy rituals of the Spiritual Gods. It’s extravagant during the day of the holy ritual. Colourful lanterns would be hung within the city, and many people who set up stalls at night.”
Lagides said happily.
“Oh yes, even if the scale is not as large as the holy ritual, but there will be a rather lively summer harvest festival next week. Those people born in the North will treat everyone with delicious wine made from goat’s milk.”
Ashiya tried to imagine such a scene. It was just like the Japanese, who would celebrate Christmas, New Year’s Eve
and New Year in the same week.
“From the history of how Wathewlama was formed, this country is like the dark side of the Southern Continent. Since we were born in this small country and political standing, then we should at least have a magnanimous heart. There should still be a limit though.”
Ashiya and Alberto, who did not know the history of Wathewlama’s formation, leaned forward in curiosity.
“For example, Ghani, who was your guide today, his ancestors seem to be from Harlan Tharja. As for me, it would be Harlan Krovel. Other than the immigrants who came from other continents, most of the ancestors of the citizens here were nobles from Harlan Nation or their branch families.”
“Harlan’s nobles?”
“Harlan is a nation with a long history in which the oldest child will inherit the throne. The branch nations are countries which are formed in the chaos following the assassination of the oldest child in a generation of the ruling family. But either way, Wathewlama’s ancestors are people who failed in the fight to be the ruling head of the country. It is a country born from weak people depending on each other. Tolerance isn’t everything, but continuous rejection would only cause conflicts.”
“And in the end, this place became the strongest warrior nation in the continent, how ironic.”
“I will definitely get back at those guys from our homeland, they better prepare themselves. The diaries filled with
these angry words from the first generation of warriors are now being treated as national treasures.” “Is that really alright?”
Such diary contents which looked like they could be written by children, caused Ashiya to laugh.
“Then, it’s about time we move on to the man topic, yes?”
Lagides straightened his posture and looked at Ashiya.
“Because it was a recommendation from a saviour of humankind, I allowed the enemy of humans to tour my country. In response to that, I hope I can hear about a beneficial topic.”
“That’s true.”
Ashiya put down the liqueur cup containing the Wathewlama secret liqueur from the secret collection belonging to the Warrior Leader, nodded, and spoke.
“I want to make your country stronger.” “Oh?”
“However, even if all of you are so tolerant, you might be unable to accept my proposal.” “Hm.”
Then Ashiya said a sentence which would cause anyone, not just Lagides, to listen carefully.
“However Afsahan’s Unifying Azure Emperor Fu Junyan, and the Goat’s Enclosure Leader Din Dem Urs have already
accepted this proposal and have begun to review the proposal in detail.” “……!”
Lagides looked towards Alberto in surprise.
“I don’t know the situation with the Unifying Azure Emperor, but that old lady Din Dem is viewing this rather seriously.” “Hm……”
First mentioning the names of the ?big shots? then presenting a strange proposal. This was definitely not considered
a good negotiation tactic, but the names Ashiya mentioned just now which all important people whom no one could
surpass, so Lagides could not help but feel surprised.
“Haah, alright. Then Demon General, placing me, a Warrior Leader from a small desert country, together with the Unifying Azure Emperor and the Enclosure Leader, what business do you have?”
“……”
Ashiya paused for a long time, then said the sentence.
“Are you still sane?”
“Are humans able to judge if a demon’s mental state is normal?”
After listening to Ashiya’s explanation which was not that long, even if there was nothing around him, Lagides still looked to his left and right in a haggard manner.
No one knew when was the last time the leader of the Warrior Nation, whose reputation spread across the Southern Continent, looked this haggard.
“Alberto, this guy, this guy is really……”
“No matter when, this guy is so serious that it makes you want to laugh.”
Alberto’s comment was probably a mockery of all their actions, including what they did while they were living in Japan.
“If so, you should also understand that this is not something which can be answered immediately, right?” “Of course.”
Ashiya nodded in agreement.
“After all, this place does not possess powerful authority like with the Unifying Azure Emperor and unlike Fiensi, it does not have a culture suitable for accepting this kind of proposal. Because of the size of the country is different, we do not plan to force any of you. However the Unifying Azure Emperor and Din Dem Urs are really interested in this matter. In fact, only the Western Continent, heavily influenced by the Theocracy, will reject this proposal. In a sense, this matter is a case of the early bird gets the worm.”
“Even if it’s a case of the early bird gets the worm, this is not something the whole world would be happy to accept.”
Lagides showed a troubled smile, then drank the alcohol in his cup in one go.
“Seriously, even since the Demon King Army appeared, strange things keep happening in this world.” “This world has been like this since the beginning, it’s just that ?we ? do not know about it.”
“The Hero and the Demon King are actually working together for the sake of a little girl and plan to defeat the gods
together, it would be bad if such things happen frequently…… excuse me for a moment.”
Lagides got up lazily and left with such unsteady steps that would make onlookers wonder if he was drunk. Ashiya and Alberto looked at each other, but Lagides returned in less than five minutes.
He sighed deeply and passed a small golden object to Ashiya. Upon first glance, it seemed to be a compass made out of gold.
But it looked like even the needle was made from gold, and after Ashiya glanced at Lagides and obtained his approval, Ashiya held the compass up, but the needle only swayed randomly without pointing to any particular direction.
It seemed like Alberto did not know what it was either, but Lagides’s servants gave off a nervous aura.
“Take it. Treat it as a deposit. My country’s secret spell created from the research of ancient secret techniques is contained within. This is something which only the king of the Harlan Nation will have.”
“The king of Harlan Nation…… hey, could it be, the thing mentioned by King Erzamuha……”
“I lent a new one to King Erzamuha in the past. As you know, this is a token between Wathewlama and Harlan Nation, and is also a magic tool to establish long distance communication with the Warrior Leader of Wathewlama when something bad happens. I will teach you how to use it later.”
It was said that when an emergency occurred, the royal family of Harlan Nation would be able to contact Wathewlama with some secret technique to ask them for help.
After Wathewlama received the news, they will contact the other Harlan countries to judge if the first communication was justified.
Either way, it meant that countries which have this golden compass have established an alliance with Wathewlama.
“I have obtained sufficient understanding of our proposal. With regards to my country’s future, I wish to push away any existing prejudices and continue discussions with all of you, but this is still a sensitive issue after all, so I do not think a conclusion will be reached easily. Therefore, I hope for your understanding, giving this to all of you was entirely based on my own personal opinion.”
“…… We’re very thankful.”
Ashiya bowed deeply.
In reality, this can be interpreted as Lagides agreeing to the proposal.
Based on the behaviour of this country’s citizens and Lagides’s capacity, even if some time was needed, they could still
look forward to a positive outcome.
“Oh yes, it’s a bit strange to be considered a price, but can you grant a request of mine?” “Go ahead.”
“I want to see your true form.” “Hey……”
“Warrior Leader, this is……”
Naturally, not just Lagides’s servants, even Alberto showed an expression of discomfort, but Lagides stopped them.
“Rather than saying this man is reasonable, it’s more like he’s too much like a human. It’s not like I doubt Alberto, but
if you can show your true form here, everyone present will acknowledge that ?You are a reasonable demon?, yes?”
Ashiya looked shocked, but he also felt that what Lagides said made sense.
“Alright, please back up a little. Alberto, just in case, please put up a holy magic barrier.” “A, are you really doing it?”
“Warrior Leader Lagides had opened his heart to me since the beginning. If so, I should also show my own cards.”
After Ashiya said this, he got up and put a considerable distance between him and the humans.
They observed Ashiya’s every action, Lagides with a gaze of curiosity, while the servants’ gazes were filled with fear. “There’s no need to be so wary, it’s nothing much.”
As Ashiya said words of reassurance, he started to take off the Wathewlama clothing which Lagides had lent to him. Because the stares from Lagides and the others were filled with confusion, Ashiya replied,
“It would be bad if it was damaged.” Only Alberto laughed at this sentence. Then,
“……Ugh!”
A black flame pillar gushed up in an instant.
“Ohh……!”
Lagides exclaimed.
In the next instant, the lanky man who had fainted due to heat exhaustion had disappeared without a trace, replacing him was a person covered in an exoskeleton who was of larger build than Lagides, with a two-pronged barbed tail.
That energy emitting from that muscled person which disgusted humans was definitely demonic magic.
“I see.”
“H, hey.”
“Don’t worry. I am still the Warrior Leader. This level of demonic magic is just a breeze to me.”
Alberto tried to stop Lagides from walking towards Ashiya, but Lagides stopped him instead and stood in front of Ashiya, no, Demon General Alsiel.
Within the suffocating tense atmosphere, Alsiel waited quietly.
“Whether it’s in the South or East, this demonic magic is a problem.” “For humans with a certain level of power, this will not cause any harm.” “You are correct, and my country is a Warrior Nation.”
Lagides smiled happily.
“Alright. I will be responsible for advocating this.”
Then Lagides placed his hand on the sheet iron-like shoulder of the past enemy of the humans.
“Accepting the citizens of the Demon World as the citizens of my country after the end of the Battle to Defeat God.”

The same day Ashiya visited Wathewlama.
Riding a horse wagon, Suzuno was travelling on the major visiting path of Saint Ignord, the Theocracy headquarters in the westernmost area of the West Continent.
The last time Suzuno returned here had been a very long time ago.
Looking out from the window of the horse wagon, it could be seen that Saint Ignord was filled with a bustling atmosphere.
The interior of the holy church of the Theocracy was not as quiet as everyone perceived it to be.
The Great Cathedral was situated at the foot of the Sacred Mountain Ignord at the west end of the Western Continent, surrounded by the cathedral streets where the believers lived. Currently that place was swirling with rumours, controlled by a strange atmosphere caused by some heightened emotions.
The death of Archbishop Robertio was saddening news, but a doctrine came down from the Heavens at the same time. Just like when Hero Emilia bore the name of the Church Knights in the past and defeated Lucifer in the battle with the
Demon King Army, there was a vague impulsive atmosphere floating within the city.”
“No matter where, humans will not change.”
The inhabitants of Sant Ignord were not pious devotees who have gone through special selection.
However, as believers of the Theocracy who lived next to the holy land, the city inhabitants still has their own restrictions, therefore there were naturally a significant number of devout believers.
Then after the Six Archbishops announced that the Church Knights were going to carry out a large mobilisation, not only were the current city inhabitants becoming strangely excited, their faces were filled with pride and arrogance, as if they felt that the group they belonged to were finally going to show their brand of justice to the world.
This behaviour was no different from the other people who rely on the country, their king or race.
Everywhere, there were notices set up by commoners, merchants, travellers or mercenaries encouraging the public to join the volunteer corps of the Church Knights, spreading the righteousness of the doctrine, and asking the Hero to defeat the unknown demons hiding in the Central Continent. The exciting and resplendent articles attracted gathering crowds of people.
“There seems to be a never-ending stream of people signing up. The amount of donations seem to be double the
normal amount……”
Suzuno’s subordinate in the Correction Council Anri Watts was also sitting in the same horse wagon. Knowing the
details of the Battle to Defeat God, he explained this when he noticed Suzuno’s gaze. “Does that apply to the whole continent?”
“It seems to be so.”
“That’s a crazy restoration project.”
Because the Church Knights initiated the large scale mobilisation known as the ?Holy Conquest ?, this caused rapid changes in the Western Continent.
People, goods and money begin to move in large volumes, and this brought about a huge stimulation to the economy.
This miraculous Holy Conquest was unprecedented, and glory would be obtained by either participating or providing support. And those people supporting those who pursue glory would also obtain benefits.
The Western Continent countries, whose hearts have been completely controlled by the Theocracy have sunk into a crazed state.
Suzuno observed everything coldly and analysed that this situation was definitely not considered a bad thing to her side.

“What is the current situation? How many cases have accumulated in the Doctrinal Correction Council?”
“The number of cases are so numerous that the council specially set up for this operation have waited for Bishop Bell to the point of being in tears.”
After hearing Anri’s explanation, Suzuno smiled,
“……I see.”
Simply put, the cases which require a decision to be made by Suzuno, the highest ranked person, before proceeding, have already accumulated into a huge pile.
The horse wagon continued to travel down the main road in the city. From within the wagon, Suzuno looked towards the nearing imposing Great Cathedral and smiled.
“With my small stature, how much will I be able to slow down this monster? I’m looking forward to it.”
“Head Inquisitor Crestia Bell from the Doctrinal Correction Council has returned.”
After Suzuno arrived that the Great Cathedral, she completely ignored the area where Robertio’s wake was being held,
and headed towards the office of Servantes Reberiz, the person in charge of the Holy Conquest.
“Such a long journey must be tiring, Bishop Bell. It seems like you have become very used to the environment of Saint
Aire.”
“Of course not. The meals in the Sorcery Management Institute contain too many desserts, causing me to gain some
weight.”
Though Servantes mocked her for waiting until the very last possible moment to return to the Headquarters, Suzuno had already expected this, so she also went for a direct frontal assault.
“How is Lord Olba doing?”
“Who knows. Director Emerada and I did not meddle in the justice system of Saint Aire, so with regards to the matters concerning Lord Olba, I only know about the information uttered in the streets.”
“I see. Forget it.”
Servantes nodded and without even getting up from the desk, he pointed to the door behind Suzuno. “Please start work immediately. We must have the Church Knights take action as soon as possible.” “Understood. I will do my best…… but before that, can I ask about something first?”
“Leave that for later, I am busy as well.”
“It will not take too much of your time. Lord Servantes, I have been a priestess for a long time, so there is something I
cannot help but feel bothered by.” “Hm?”
“The being who appeared in the dreams of the Archbishops, is it really God?” “……”
Servantes looked towards Suzuno, showing some surprise.
He seemed to be thinking if there was some hidden motive behind that question, but immediately shook his head and replied,
“I think…… it should not be God.”
This time, it was Suzuno’s turn to feel surprised at the answer.
Servantes, who was the embodiment of confidence and ambition, actually gave such a vague answer to this important issue.
“Then, is it an angel?”
“It is possible. But that figure does not match the contents described in the Bible.” “Forgive my insolence, but if that is the case, why was it judged to be a Holy Dream?”
Servantes, who sensed that he was clearly being suspected, showed an unhappy expression for an instant, but he immediately thought things over.
Although Servantes’ position in the Theocracy far surpassed that of Suzuno, if he handled the Correctional Council carelessly, the righteousness of the Holy Conquest might be doubted.
Especially since in the first place, the Correctional Council was an organisation established under the command of Robertio and Servantes.
Robertio’s death was the motive for the Holy Conquest, so Servantes, as the overall commander, could not ignore Suzuno and the Correctional Council.
“At least that is definitely not an existence from this world. Most importantly, Lord Verdegris, Lord Caesar and Lord Maulo had the same dream, and all of them saw the same figure. Would you be satisfied with that?”
Verdegris Chricco, Caesar Quaranta, Maulo Valli.
Just like Servantes, they are part of the current Six Archbishops.
“This is a mission which would mobilise all the Church Knights around the world, so even if it is rude, I still need to confirm this. A doctrine declared by an existence not documented in the Bible, is there a chance that it is a ploy by the demons?”
“Bishop Bell, do you mean that us Archbishops are all useless people who will be manipulated by demons?”
“Of course not. But even if it’s just a formality, if we are unable to clearly discern the identity of the bringer of the Holy Dream, we might not even able to decide the symbol to be printed on the flag of the Holy Conquest.”
“……”
Servantes fell silent, but he did not appear to be displeased, or rather, he was the type to not show his emotions on his face in the first place.
He probably expected the Doctrinal Correction Council to voice their objection with regards to this sooner or later, so in an abnormal show of behaviour, he wanted to use a forceful tone to make Suzuno back off.
The massive mobilisation of the Church Knights, known as the ?Holy Conquest?, required an angel or any other symbol recorded in the Bible.
If it was an angel, they would use angels, if it was a holy tool, then they would use the image of the holy tool after making it into a symbol. By holding up the flag with this type of image, this served as evidence as a declaration to the Bible and God that the march was legitimate.
Therefore in past history, there were holy conquests in which that Sariel was used as the image on the flag.
“Since all the Archbishops saw a similar apostle in the holy dreams, then can I ask everyone to describe this in further detail? If all of you are willing to cooperate, I will definitely flip through the Bible and other documents to make proper arrangements.”
Because the designed image will have to be added to many objects, if they were unable to decide the image on the flag, it would affect the production progress of these items. In addition, this was also one of the important factors to convince the other countries, so it was definitely not good to delay it for too long.
In the process of such a big operation, asking the four Archbishops to find a common free time slot was an extremely difficult task.
Once Servantes thought about this, he momentarily fell silent, but he immediately quashed these feelings and replied in a magnanimous manner,
“…… Alright. This is an important issue. I will arrange for an Archbishop meeting as soon as possible, then send someone to inform you. Please clear up the work that has piled up first, would that be alright?”
“Thank you very much. Then after expressing my condolences to the people related to Lord Robertio, I will start work
immediately.” “……”
Servantes had asked Suzuno to get to work as quickly as possible, but as if she was disobeying him, Suzuno said that she was going to pay her condolences to Robertio.
With the position of Bishop, Suzuno = Crestia Bell, was the Head Inquisitor of the Doctrinal Correction Council.
Her condolence visit would definitely not end with just giving flowers or signing her name at the wake venue set up within the church.
If she did not properly visit the family members and relatives of Robertio Iguno Valentia and the locations with a deep connection to him, it would go against the order and etiquette of the Theocracy.
Even if the locations of visit were limited to those within Saint Ignord, just paying a visit to the various places would take at least four days.
However, Servantes could not stop Suzuno.
After all, the reason for the mobilisation this time was Robertio’s death.
Robertio was held in high esteem worldwide, so if the news that Servantes asked Suzuno not to give her condolences to him was spread, it would harm Servantes’s status.
“This sudden accident has thrown everyone into a panic. In order to avoid causing trouble for others, please keep your
actions simple.”
“I understand. I apologise for the disturbance. Then, I’ll be heading off.” “Yes, I’m counting on you.”
Even if he knew that Suzuno did not support this Holy Conquest, Servantes still gave these orders to Suzuno without any change in his expression, showing his superior courage and intellect.
“Doing this as a start is enough. After that, I will have to work obediently for a while.”
If she went overboard, she might get targeted instead. After confirming the effects of that first jab, Suzuno hurried to the conference room of the Doctrinal Correction Council.
“Ah! Bishop Bell!”
“Lady Crestia! We have been waiting for a long time!”
“T, thank god! We’re saved! We don’t have to be on the receiving end of the angry shouts anymore!”
After the members of the Doctrinal Correction Council discovered that Suzuno had returned, all of them breathed a sigh of relief.
“Everyone, I am sorry for taking so long to return. Since I am back, I will do my best. For the sake of the correct set of beliefs, I hope everyone can support me.”
“Alright!”
“Understood!”
“E, erhm, please handle these documents quickly……!”
Suzuno’s gaze swept over her subordinates who looked like they could not hold on anymore, and said with a smile, “Actually, I really just returned, and I have not even paid my resects to Lord Robertio properly. I am sorry, but please
allow me to leave again for a period of time. Anri, I will leave the rest to you.” “I understand. Please be careful in your travels.”
“Eh…… ehhhh?!”
“Bishop?! Is this a joke?!”
“B, Brother Anri! Erhm, we also received a huge volume of inquisition applications today as well……!”
Hearing the pitiful shouts of the subordinates behind her, Suzuno mentally apologised to them, then in order to really carry out the task of giving her condolences to the people related to Robertio, she first went to her office which she had not entered in a long time.
“Haah…… I really want to go back to Villa Rosa Sasazuka.”
The office of the Head Inquisitor of the Doctrinal Correction Council, which would be cleaned by someone during her absence, was no longer a place where she could be at peace.
Even so, her loyal and sincere subordinates, which included Anri, still protected this place in her steed.
Suzuno opened the closet and changed into the mourning robes which were so free of wrinkles that it looked like a new piece of clothing.
Japan’s full set of mourning clothes were all black, but the colour of the Theocracy’s mourning clothes was white.
The mirror on the closet reflected Suzuno wearing pure white robes and a biretta hat worn for ceremonies.
With a length so long that the hem would slide across the floor and wide sleeves which sagged downwards, as well as a firm biretta hat.
It really looked just like the white cotton hat and gown used in weddings.
“Hoho, perhaps an attire like this suits a traitor like me who betrayed the gods and became a Demon General.”
Suzuno smiled happily, then her expression became stony, as if she was glaring at her reflection. Her conversation with Servantes today was only considered the prologue.
This battle had only just begun.
“Then, let’s go.”

“Is it really alright~? Slacking off in this kind of place~~” “It’s alright, I’m tired.”
“A few minutes ago~~ your Guardsmen specially came over to ask a question~~? They asked me if the General had
come here to play~~”
“I didn’t come here to play.”
This was Saint Aire Empire’s capital, Irihem.
On the roof of the Sorcery Management Institute, Heather Lumark had found a folding deck chair and low table from somewhere, reading a book while pouring cheap wine into a copper goblet.
The term slacking off was not enough to accurately describe this scene. This was basically using all of one’s effort to laze around.
To some extent, Emerada Etuva, the Director of the Sorcery Management Institute, seemed to have predicted that Lumark would react this way.
“Since you did not come here to play, then it can’t be helped~~ by the way, do you want to eat biscuits with me~~” “Then I’ll help myself.”
She also brought over a foldable stool and sat next to Lumark.
“It would be nice if there was sea nearby~”
“It’s too early to be sunbathing at the beach. The amount of sunlight now is just the right amount.”
The latitude of Irihem was higher than the Isla Kentorum of the Central Continent where the Demon Fortress was located, so the weather during this time was drier, but the gentle sunlight was suitable for sunbathing.
“Talking about the sea~ were you responsible for the incident at Ramuwaz~?” “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“So it was you after all~. I feel that you did very well~ but the method was too efficient~ so I intentionally left some
weaknesses~”
Without any change in expression, Emerada and Lumark took out biscuits from a can which had the logo of a famous desert maker in Japan and emitted a buttercream smell.
“Opposing them head-on is not a good idea~ so I helped you arrange a sea route which can transport a lot of goods
from the Church~~”
“Based on my calculations, my previous action will cause the transport of the goods from the Church to be delayed by a whole week. As long as someone realises that I am the one behind this and cause me to lose my current authority, I will be able to lead a relaxing life after that. You’re really meddlesome.”
“You’re saying such things again~”
Ramuwaz was part of Keyrinz Republic at the east end of the Western Continent. It was the largest port city in the Western Continent.
It was seriously damaged during the Demon King Army invasion, but it was a city of merchants, so even if they were suppressed by Lucifer, the pace of restoration was still very fast, and in the end, they finished their post war restoration faster than the other inland cities.
However, having recovered faster than the inland cities, the important point was that, as if to show the intensity of the battle with Lucifer’s army, the restoration of the few port cities to the west of Ramuwaz had not progressed much at all.
For many cities, they have not even recovered the functions they possessed before, and currently, all the sea transportation to other continents were concentrated at Ramuwaz.
At this point of time, the Church Knights initiated a Holy Conquest.
Whether it was the transportation of people or goods, Ramuwaz’s ability to process the flow of commodities was
already close to exploding, and right now, this far surpassed their ability to handle the situation. And Lumark took the chance to manipulate the situation.
Ramuwaz was not part of Saint Aire, but a territory of Keyrinz Republic, so Lumark could not interfere directly, but it was another matter when it came to the land transport from Ramuwaz to the inland areas. Lumark gathered the land transportation businesses in Saint Aire and urgently set up a large distribution centre, fully paid by Saint Aire.
Ramuwaz was concerned about Saint Aire’s motives, but since a large nation was offering to ease the pressure on the business and paid the tax for building the distribution centre without any protest, it was something that they were glad to accept.
Building the distribution centre required people and materials, this caused the flow of commodities to slow down even further.
Because the number of places which could process goods have increased, a lot of manpower and goods gathered there, the increased business opportunity also caused money to flow there…… this positive cycle caused people to have less and less time to handle the matters related to the Church’s long distance conquest.
However, this was not the only thing Lumark did.
She even implemented measures which stipulated that as long as anyone had a travel pass issued by Ramuwaz, taxes for the people and goods crossing the boundaries of Saint Aire would be waived.
The essential goods for the Church Knight’s Holy Conquest were not all concentrated at Saint Ignord, but as the largest country in the Western Continent, Saint Aire was a major hub for the transportation of goods.
If they could pass through there with low taxes, the people and materials moving in the Western Continent would naturally flood into Saint Aire.
Even though the reason was to group together the goods to be transported to the Church and decrease the transportation costs, in reality, the transport network of the Western Continent was not so developed to handle the sudden surge in flow.
Unlike the roads in Japan which were covered in a layer of asphalt, the roads here would turn into mud once there was a small amount of rain, causing the transportation carts to get stuck.
However, the amount of traffic increased sharply, and there was no time to reorganise the roads.
In the end, even if the flow of the goods in the Western Continent kept increasing, the people were unable to handle it, causing a huge jam.
Because only the transportation part was delayed and not the lack of goods, so there were many types of things within
Saint Aire’s borders, causing the price to drop. This allowed the citizens to obtain plentiful products.
On the other hand, the prices of the surrounding countries were on an increasing trend, but the flow of commodities on the market was considered adequate, so the countries did not descend into panic.
There were too many commodities flowing into Ramuwaz and Saint Aire, the two large transportation bases, and transporting the goods out was not an easy thing to do.
In this situation, Lumark was still leisurely sunbathing in this place.
“If I continue working, the flow of the goods will eventually become more effective. Even if I end up stepping down because of this, the successor would probably be General of some army sent by Pepin. Their abilities are only half of mine, so in reality, this would still hinder the Church and prevent the country from losing face.”
“Forget that idea about the person sent by Pepin being the new General~. My nose will die from the bad smell~”
Emerada spat this out with a smile.
“And the weakness I was talking about is not an ordinary weakness~ because it’s a sea route from the Northern
Continent to the Eastern Continent~ the goods would not be sent to Wez Quarters~ but Noza Quarters instead~” “……!”
For the first time, Lumark looked shaken.
“Wouldn’t there be problems by doing this?”
“It should be fine~? But if this is a normal treaty channel~ this would be exceptional treatment~ so even if problems
arise later~ I won’t need to take responsibility~” “Haah, that makes sense.”
“As a follower of the Western Theocracy~~ I have done my best to help~~” “You raccoon.”
“Who the heck is a raccoon!”
She was angry about that?
Emerada puffed up her cheeks and said,
The western entrance to the Central Continent Wez Quarters~ is really still in the progress of restoration~! If they wanted to transport the Church Knights to the Central Continent safely~ they would still need to go around and enter from the north or south side in the end~!”
“I know that. Because I know that, that’s why I said you’re a raccoon.” “Oh you~!!”
As the entrances for the commodities between the Eastern, Western, Southern and Northern Continent, there were four large port cities in the Central Continent.
Ia Quarters in the East, Wez Quarters in the West, Saza Quarters in the South and Noza Quarters in the North.
These four cities were the arms and legs of the Central City Isla Kentorum and were able to administer themselves independently during emergencies, showing their own abilities.
Of course, the Demon King Army also caused great damage to these cities.
Especially Wez Quarters in the west and Saza Quarters in the south, as if to describe the extent of the cruelty of the Demon Generals responsible of conquering those areas, the extent of the damage was still very serious, and there was no significant progress in the restoration work.
On the other hand, Noza Quarters in the north was the city with the least damage…… or rather, the city mostly retained
its original structure.
Other than the fact that Adramelech, who was in charge of conquering that place, not liking senseless destruction, another reason was that the Ashen Horns he led were not skilled at flying.
The Ashen Horns who has a large stature and were not good at riding the flying dragons, other than using the ‘Gate’ when attacking the Northern Continent from the Central Continent, they had to make use of the ships which were used by humans.
It was said that another reason was that they, who were skilled in ice magic, wanted to first deal a painful head-on blow to the inhabitants of the Northern Continent with a sea battle to greatly decrease their morale.
Therefore, after Demon King Army retreated, amongst all the commodities which were transported to the Central Continent, almost 90% entered via the north or east side.
Of course, Noza Quarters in the north did not only trade with the Northern Continent, this also included routes from the south which went directly to the north via the sea route.
But in the end, the countries of the Northern Continent had the strongest influence on Noza Quarters.
Not only did they have a say in the administration, the largest treaty channel was held by the Northern Continent countries.
Simply put, it was not as if they could not go to Noza Quarters directly from the Western Continent, but the direct sailing route was very narrow, and considering the scale of the mobilisation of the Church Knights this time, most of the Church Knights would have to land in the Northern Continent first.
If it was only the transportation of the materials for restoration, it would not be that hard.
This applied to the Five Continent Knight Alliance who were using the peaceful purpose of restoring the Central Continent.
However the Church Knights did not have much influence in areas outside of the Western Continent, so if they wanted
to use this shipping route for military invasion……
“I am simply too busy. If even if they ask me, I probably do not have any time to carry out a military negotiation with the Northern Continent’s Enclosure Leader.”
“With my position~ the important people in the Northern Continent would probably be unwilling to meet me~”
On a roof without anyone else around, Lumark and Emerada said this shamelessly.
“Guaranteeing an army advancement route~ would probably take a lot of effort, right~” “Exactly. But this must be a test from God.”
“That’s right~. You are making a lot of sense~”
Emerada looked up towards the sky in the northeast.
“With this, it should be easier to communicate with Emilia in Japan~”

“The humans are frantic and feeling uneasy?”
“Yes. It appears that Heather Lumark leaving the scene did affect them greatly after all.”
“…… I have predicted that such a situation would happen, but I did not expect it to happen that quickly. It’s been less
than one week.”
The report from Farfarello, the current leader of the Malebranches, caused Ashiya to feel troubled.
Once Ashiya and Alberto returned from Wathewlama, they received reports that the citizens of the Western Continent have felt uneasy ever since the Guardsmen returned home.
The human forces for the Battle to Defeat God mainly came from the Hakin Knights from the Eastern Continent, who have a close relationship with Ashiya.
They might be termed the main forces, but their numbers were about the same as the other factions.
The only problem was whether Ashiya could trust the person in charge of handling the ground. Currently, with the mediation from Lumark and the others, the relationship between Ashiya and the citizens of the Western Continent were still considered alright.
However, the news that the Church Knights recruiting a huge army forced the Western Continent leader figures to return to their countries, which shook the mental states of the Western Continent citizens.
Saint Aire Guard Knights, the Sorcery Management Institute and the Theocracy’s Doctrinal Correction Council.
All the Western Continent citizens belonged to one of these three institutions, but after Lumark, Emerada and Suzuno left, the field commander was changed to the second-in-command of these organisations.
However, the second-in-command was something which only applied here and not everyone had fighting or leadership experience.
When they faced the Hakin Knights or the demons, most of them acted nervous and timid.
“Alberto……”
Ashiya asked Alberto for help.
“Let me say this first, all of them know that I am here.”
When Alberto was facing Warrior Leader Lagides in Wathewlama, he would show a dominant aura as if he was superior to the other party, but right now, the expression he showed gave off the impression that he was weak.
“The reputation of being the Hero’s comrade is no match for actual politics huh.”
“I can’t get along with those people from the West. Especially that group of people from the Sorcery Management
Institute.”
Emerada and Lumark had mentioned that Alberto was not good at handling the members of the Western Continent organisations, but when the two of them were around, Alberto could still sufficiently play the role of being the bridge between the West and East, so Ashiya did not treat this fact seriously.
However, thinking about it carefully, Alberto was a General of the Northern Continent, a place with many races, while the nations of the Western Continent were nations ruled by a single race or a majority race.
In countries where their historical backgrounds were completely different, Alberto’s blunt attitude can be interpreted as insensitive and negligent, or a heretic who would break various rules.
A problem like this had now surfaced in the worst way.
Even if he could help negotiate with the East, he would not support the West during an emergency. This was the impression they had of Alberto.
“Makes you want to tell them that if they’re not motivated, they should just return to their hometown.”
“But we cannot do that for real. Right now, we cannot completely cut our ties with the people from the West.”
Even if he agreed with Farfarello’s thoughts wholeheartedly, Ashiya could only reject the suggestion with a troubled
smile.
“It’s not just Lumark and the others leaving which are making them feel doubtful. They are also worrying if their actions
are truly righteous.”
In truth, humans who were willing to work with demons to fight God were the minority in this world. Especially the people from the Western Continent, most of them were faithful believers of the Theocracy.
Before knowing the truth, even Sariel and Gabriel were grand existences whom they worshipped. Under normal circumstances, it was impossible for them to work together with demons to defeat the God, who was the source of the angels.
“However, isn’t Gabriel around too? As long as an angel is around, the humans from the Western should be satisfied, right?”
Once Alberto remembered that an angel whom the Western Continent worshipped was around, he tried to suggest this, but Ashiya did not agree.
“What they believe in are the angels within the Bible and scriptures, and not an actual existence who has wings and possesses overwhelming power.”
Coincidentally, Suzuno said similar things to Olba in the Eastern Continent. When Alberto and Farfarello ate breakfast with her earlier, they heard a similar explanation.
“To them, God does exist, but they are unable to recognise that the powerful existence in front of them is God. By reading their Bible or legends, it can be discovered that the image of God is simple and easy to understand, but with regards to the miracles caused by God, it would be recorded in a vague and roundabout manner, and there is hardly any actual evidence left behind. They strongly believe that God does not belong to this world and is an existence from
another world. Because they are very religious, ?real? angels and gods do not mean anything to them. And at this time, the Archbishops had a ?Holy Dream? at the same time. This is much closer to the God and angels who they believe in.”
After Ashiya said all of this in one go, he sighed.
“It seems like the problem would not be solved easily. Between Bell, Emerada and Lumark, if any one of them stayed
behind, it would be possible to control them. Us demons would not be able to control them at all.” “It can’t be done even if we ask Emilia to come over?”
“No. Before we ascertain the details of what happened during the battle in the Demon World, we cannot ask Emilia to come to Ente Isla. If the enemy which appeared in that underground facility can really negate Emilia’s holy sword, we cannot guarantee that the person would not attack this place. If things turn out like that, Emilia might really lose the ability to fight this time, and Alas=Ramus will be taken away. And have you forgotten what happened at Azure Sky Canopy?”
Ashiya’s explanation caused Farfarello and Alberto to fall silent.
“The power of that astronaut is effective against all users of holy magic. If we ask Emilia, who can lure out that astronaut, to come here, before the Church Knights arrive here, the human army will fall apart, and this war will end.”
“So there’s nothing we can do.”
“Looks like we can only do our best to assuage their worries and somehow pull through this.”
“For example, distributing Lady Chiho’s handmade chocolates to them…… no, that would not be much help at all.”
Farfarello might have just been joking.
“I see. That’s a rather good idea.”
But Ashiya Shiro did not see it as a joke.
“Alright. Then I’ll make the chocolates and give it to them as a reward!”
After a long time of not doing so, Ashiya prepared to make use of his skills as a househusband and pulled out the dark green apron which had become his trademark from nowhere, but Alberto stopped him frantically.
“Wait, wait, calm down! That dessert is very well received by humans, but that’s because the one making them is that young lass called Chiho. If they found out that you were actually the one who made it, baseless rumours such as you secretly lacing them with poison might spread!”
“Poison?! Lacing with poison, you said?! How can I do that to food!! Are you insulting me, the one who controls the
Demon Fortress’s kitchen!!” “Lord Alsiel?!”
“I, Ashiya Shiro, have worked day and night to make dishes which can satisfy the body and soul of those who eat them!
As such a person, how can I poison the chocolate!!”
“This is not an issue of your skills or mentality! The fact that the maker is a demon is already a problem!”
If Emi, Suzuno or Urushihara were around, they would probably make the same sharp tongued retorts, but this was
already Alberto’s limit.
“Damn humans…… do you think that the chocolates I make are inedible!” “Why do you have to act so frustrated?”
“In addition, Sasaki-san is currently at an important period in which she just got promoted to third year of high school and the Shop Manger in her workplace is getting changed. Bringing her to this chaotic place when the staff would be restricted from shifting around would be treating her too poorly.”
“Since it is inconvenient for Lady Chiho, there should be another Japanese female over there right?” “Hm?”
“Hero Emilia’s friend…… many humans have seen Lumark welcoming her with respect. And she looks older than Lady
Chiho as well, can’t we ask her?”
After Ashiya realised that Farfarello was referring to Suzuki Rika, he shook his head even more forcefully.
“N, no, no way, we can’t do that.”
“Why not? Lady Chiho said before that as long as there are the right tools, anyone can shape the chocolate. Even if it does look difficult to make, we can just buy the desserts there directly.”
“No, that’s not what I meant, erhm, asking her to do such things…… just feels a little embarrassing.” “Hah?”
“What does that mean?”
“…… It’s an issue, between the humans of Japan.” ““?””
Alberto and Farfarello, this human and demon pair unexpectedly had a common understanding. It was rare for Ashiya to sound this vague.
But from Ashiya’s point of view, this was something which he could not control.
After all, not only did Ashiya reject Rika’s confession which she made as someone from the opposite gender, he even
let Maou handle the return gift for White Day and did nothing.
With this, how could he be so shameless to ask her to prepare chocolate to appease the humans over here.
“E, either way, Suzuki-san is a normal human, so we cannot bring her to such a dangerous place! We can only think of
other ways!”
“You said that, but even if I made the chocolate, no one would feel happy about it.” “Let’s move away from the topic of chocolate!”
“You were the one who started it.”
“But the important point is that they are unable to obtain any information from the outside world, so they are unable to implement any counterstrategies, so we are unable to get rid of their worries in the end. After all, even we are unable to carelessly communicate with Lumark, Emerada and Lady Bell. Those guys must be worried if they have already been viewed as heretics in their hometowns and rejected. We can’t really do anything about that……”
Right now, there were two problems they had to solve.
One was to have them understand that being here did not mean that they were in the minority, reassuring them. The other one was to make sure that their actions were just.
The impact of Lumark’s absence was significant.
After all, to the citizens of the Western Continent, the reputation of Heather Lumark, the General of Holy Saint Aire’s
Guards, had far more influence than the normal noble families.
The fact that Lumark left at this time strengthened the impression that the righteousness of her actions might not be protected by the nation and caused them to suspect that they had participated in a conspiracy planned by Lumark.
This was not a problem which could be solved by simply improving welfare or giving rewards.
Even if the people stay, their hearts would become more and more detached. This weakness would cause the situation to become unsalvageable, corroding the plan laid down by Ashiya and the others.
“In the end, we can only take it one step at a time. Alberto, currently I can only have you handle this matter first. Kindly make full use of your reputation as the Hero’s comrade and try to command them.”
“Thank you for your completely unclear instructions. I will try my best and see, but it really will not last for that long. In the worst case scenario, it might be better to quickly launch the Demon Fortress and escape to the Demon World first?”
“…… If that was possible, I would have done it already.”
Ashiya mumbled.
The Church Knights were about to mobilise all their forces to attack the Central Continent.
When it was confirmed that this crisis could not be avoided, Suzuno had already raised this suggestion to Ashiya.
“Both the Demon World and Heaven are only the satellites of Ente Isla. They might be in the sky, but they can’t be
reached by just flying straight there.”
Maou had set the deadline of the Battle to Defeat God to July, but this was not to match up with Alas=Ramus’s
tentative birthday.
Based on calculations, if they wanted to travel to Heaven, the Blue Moon, from Ente Isla using the most ideal trajectory, they would have to set off during the period coinciding with Japan’s July.
If they wanted to escape to the moon where the Demon World was, the most suitable time would be around one month later, but if they flew to the Demon World, they would no longer be able to fly to Heaven from the Demon World.
The Blue Moon and the Red Moon were orbiting around Ente Isla at similar speeds, and Heaven was ahead.
Launching from the surface of the Demon World and catching up to Heaven was unrealistic, once they escape to the Demon World, they would have to launch from Ente Isla once again, match up to the direction where Heaven was heading and land on Heaven head-on.
However, just performing complex calculations had taken up a lot of time, and no one could guarantee that the next suitable timing could arrive immediately.
Therefore Ashiya and the others hoped to stay in this location which they confirmed would give them the best path, setting off directly towards Heaven.
Alberto sighed after he saw Ashiya’s expression which was filled with worry.
“I understand. Haah, it can’t be helped after all. I’m used to getting disliked anyway. I should just find someone to vent my anger on and cut him open. Hey, Farfarello, let’s separate the demons and the humans from each other first……hm?”
At this time, someone ran into the throne room of the Demon Fortress.
“Lord Alsiel. Farfar!” “Hm? Ciriatto.”
“Did something happen?”
The one who came was the Malebranche Chieftain, Ciriatto.
“A human came!! And it’s not someone from the West or East!” “What?”
“What did you say?!”
The situation right now was enough to make anyone feel uneasy, yet they received this kind of report, causing Ashiya, Alberto and Farfarello to feel nervous.
“What is going on, has a huge army come over via a Gate?”
“No, er, erhm……they did come over via a Gate, but there are only two humans.”
“What?! Which knight troop are they from?! Or are they assassins from the Church……”
Everyone was panicking because of this unexpected situation, but Ciriatto overturned Ashiya’s prediction completely. “About that, Libicocco seems to recognise the other party and they are talking at the bottom right now.”
“Libicocco? Talking?”
“The other party is pestering us to fetch Lord Demon King, Emilia, or anyone who can communicate with them.”
“We can’t get a good grasp of the situation with just this information. Let’s go out first and take a look.”
If it was just two humans, then it could be handled even if it escalated into a fight.
He had heard Ciriatto’s explanation, but Ashiya still could not guess the identity of the other party. After being mentally prepared to the possibility of having to transform into his demon form in the worst case scenario, Ashiya, Alberto and Farfarello jumped out of the window and descended to the ground.
Then, he immediately understood what happened.
From the air, he could see a crowd gathered on the ground, and Libicocco’s large stature was in the centre of the
crowd.
Strangely, the humans gathered there had their heads lowered.
“What is going on……”
Libicocco looked up towards Alsiel who had a perplexed expression on his face and showed a relieved expression.
“What’s wrong? I heard a human used a Gate to come here.”
The dominating tone of a Demon General caused the humans, who were not used to Ashiya’s demon form, to show some fear.
However, in the next moment, someone shouted at them in a sharp voice,
“It’s just a demon, why are all of you acting like a child in bed! Are all of you warriors who had to flee in defeat! With all of you acting like this, how can you still call yourself elite soldiers selected by that Heather Lumark? How disgraceful!!”
Alsiel had an impression of that voice.
After remembering the appearance of the owner of the voice, Alsiel and Alberto, who also knew the other person, opened their eyes wide, looking startled.
“All of you finally came. It was you guys who approached me first, but after I came to visit personally, I was left to wait outside for so long, that’s really bold of you.”
The one who appeared after seemingly pushing the large Libicocco aside, was an elderly woman in Northern Continent
attire, whose height was less than half of Alsiel’s. She had brought only one servant with her.
However, the power and presence which the elderly lady exuded, showed that she carried a ?history? sufficient to overwhelm a Demon General with her aura.
“O, ohh……”
“W, why are you here……”
“Lord Alsiel, Alberto, who is this……”
The elderly woman who glared at the trio of Alsiel, Alberto and Farfarello wore a monocle with an embedded purple gem on her head.
“The Chibi Broccoli from the West came to me and seriously complained while in tears.” “Chibi, Broccoli?”
Alsiel asked, feeling perplexed, but the personality of the elderly woman was not so kind to notice him with just that.
“She was worried that the chosen Lord Knights would be scared shitless of the demons because a few girls are not around. So I had no choice but to think of this as loving my grandchildren and drag my old bones here. All of you better thank me properly.”
After the elderly woman said this in one breath to Alsiel and the others who were speechless, she turned and shouted at the Western Continent warriors kneeling on the ground in a strong voice,
“Regardless of what happens from now on, the legitimacy of all of you participating in this battle and your living expenses in the future will be guaranteed by me, the Enclosure Leader Din Dem Urs! If you understand, then tighten your diapers! Dismissed!!”
The ability and authority of the Enclosure Leader was not just restricted to the Northern Continent, but well known in the whole world. The scene of her snapping and overwhelming the leader of the demons, Alsiel, instantly raised the morale of the Western Continent citizens who had stayed.
“Then……”
After confirming that the humans had regained their spirits, Din Dem Urs glared up at Alsiel once more.
“This was not the only thing Chibi Broccoli requested from me. Other than Alsiel, who is the most familiar with Japan
here?! There are so many large sized people here, don’t tell me none of you are useful?!” “It, it should be Alberto after all?”
Once Alsiel, overwhelmed by her aura, said this, Alberto shook his head vigorously.
“No, even though I have heard of many things about that place, but I have only been there once, and I did not stay
that long that time, so I’m not that familiar with that place……what about Gabriel?”
“Gabriel is the key to the defences here. It would be very troubling even if he left for a short while. Din Dem Urs, why
am I not qualified?”
“Isn’t it obvious. Since the Demon King isn’t here right now, you are the boss here. The boss can’t leave just like that right? I hope that someone can accompany me back to Fiensi. If it’s Fiensi, whether it’s casting Idea Link or opening a Gate, you can do whatever you want. Weren’t all of you feeling very troubled? About being unable to communicate easily with those people in Japan?”
“?!”
Alsiel and Alberto momentarily showed expressions of realisation.
“There are Church Knights stationed in the Northern Continent, but not only are there a small number of them, they also do not dare to interfere with my decision. Emerada also passed me a tool called a mobile phone or whatever. I can allow you to use the Goat’s Enclosure as a relay station. Personally, I also wish to chat with that cute and obedient granddaughter. It would be best if the person loaned to me can freely travel between here and Fiensi. Isn’t there such a candidate?”
“….. If that’s the case, then I can probably fulfil the role.”
Yes, it was Farfarello who said this respectfully.
“I have stayed in Japan for a long period of time, and I remember the usual behaviour of humans, so I would not appear unnatural even if I go to the Goat’s Enclosure to carry out the task. I can leave the commanding of the demons here to Ciriatto. Lord Alsiel, what do you think?”
Together with Iron, Farfarello had stayed in Japan for a period of time.
If Din Dem Urs was willing to help contact Japan, then Farfarello should be the most suitable choice to accompany Din Dem Urs.
“Can I leave it to you?”
“Understood. Please leave it to me.”
“Din Dem Urs, I will not forget this debt of gratitude.”
Alsiel turned towards the elderly woman and bowed reverently.
“Ugh.”
But Din Dem Urs jumped with such strength which did not seem like it came from an elderly woman and hit Alsiel’s
head rather hard.
Everyone’s eyes widened in surprise, but only the elderly woman puffed out her chest and said angrily,
“Don’t bow your head to humans so easily, idiot."
Din Dem Urs continued to lecture Ashiya, who was still in shock.
“You are the leader of the ?country? known as the Demon World. Do you want to regulate your citizens to a lower
status than the humans?!”
“……No.”
“If you don’t want the demons to become lower class than the humans, then don’t lower your head to the humans from the countries related to that earlier incident ever again. Leave those things to your subordinates and remember to help pass this message onto that air-headed Demon King brat.”
Since she went out of the way to give this warning, this meant the elderly woman was planning to accept the request which Alsiel had raised earlier.
Because she was planning to accept it, she treated the demons as the citizens of her own nation and was worrying about them.
“I will keep that in mind.”
So Alsiel could only lower his head in his mind and thank her for her kindness.
“Hmph. From your face, I can’t tell how much actually got to your head. Then, the one with the long claws over there! You’re the one who wants to go with me right? What’s your name!”
“……I am Farfarello. Nice to meet you pu!”
“There’s no need for you to act that cool! Maintain an attitude like you’re sticking your useless head onto the ground and rubbing against it and show respect to the other party! If you’re too rude to the humans from other countries, you will cause that guy (Alsiel) to lose face! Alright, come over here! You’re called Farfarello , right! Seriously, such a hard to pronounce name!”
Farfarello momentarily showed an unhappy expression, but immediately gathered himself together,
“…… I’m looking forward to your guidance.”
And greeted the elderly lady again in a respectful way.
He even took the chance to release his own demonic magic to transform into a human.
Thanks to the waist cloth worn by the Malebranches, he did not appear to be completely naked, but in the blink of an eye, there was an additional skinny man whose hair was combed neatly.
“Very good, once the Farfarello brat gets changed, we will return to Fiensi. If you go to the Goat’s Enclosure like this,
you will freeze to death in less than one hour!”

After Farfarello explained the situation with Ashiya, Suzuno, Emerada, Lumark, Alberto and Din Dem Urs in Ente Isla, the members gathered in Room 201 fell silent.
After Chiho finished listening to Farfarello’s explanation as to why he was able to use Emerada’s mobile phone to
contact Japan from Fiensi in the Northern Continent, she felt a wave of dizziness.
…… That is the situation, from now on I will be responsible for transferring manpower and information from Fiensi. ?
The voice of Farfarello explaining things was heard from the mobile phone, Emi, Chiho and of course Urushihara, had not recovered from their shock after hearing all of this.
Having the demons from the Demon World migrate to human countries. When did Maou and Ashiya start taking action to push such a huge plan?
And from the current situation, they could at least confirm that they have negotiated with Afsahan Empire, the Urs clan in Fiensi and the leader of Wathewlama. This was very shocking as well.
No, even if Maou and Ashiya were existences who are the most highly ranked amongst the demons, it was impossible for them to push this plan so forcefully.
Emi turned towards Camio, who looked calm.
“Of course, I already knew about this plan very early on.”
Camio answered grew wary of Emi’s reaction. “……”
But the tense atmosphere only lasted a moment. Emi sighed softly.
“I thought so. It was impossible for you to not participate in this. That would be unnatural.”
“That’s right. But I did not take part in the implementation. The Demon King Army has fallen apart, but there is still a huge number of citizens in the Demon World. It would be impossible to move all the citizens to Ente Isla. My job was just to push Lord Demon King’s and Lord Alsiel’s plan from the Demon World chirp. So I do not know what Farfarello has done or the current progress chirp.”
“……Rather than that, why was I kept in the dark?”
Urushihara, who was left out from the beginning to the end, complained. However, Urushihara did not know that there was a reason for it.
“Sorry. This was during the period when you were hospitalised in Japan. I made this decision in ten minutes after hearing Ashiya’s decision when I was in Ente Isla.”
“W, what, actually only spending ten minutes to make a decision which will affect the whole world.”
After Chiho said this in disbelief, Maou replied nonchalantly,
“Regardless of how important the matter is, it only takes an instant to make the decision. I can easily recreate the conversation at that time you know. Ashiya said ?Demon King-sama, starting from the Eastern Continent, why don’t we get the demons to migrate to Ente Isla? The Unifying Azure Emperor is very interested in this?, I replied ?Oh, that’s a good idea?, and things were decided just like that.”
“So easy! That’s taking it too lightly!”
It was so sloppily done that even Chiho could not help but feel shocked.
“Maou has always been like this. Once he makes a decision, to put it in a good way, he is fast when making his choices, to put it in a bad way, he makes decisions without consulting others.”
Urushihara also said while feeling stunned.
“At that time, Emi and Alas=Ramus were still in life threatening danger, so the details were only decided afterwards,
but it’s roughly like this.”
“B, but at that time, we still did not know that holy magic and demonic magic will disappear from the world, right?!”
Maou and Emi only knew about the relationship between the Sephirah and the world after that earlier commotion had ended and they returned to Japan.
However, before that, Maou had already decided to have the citizens of the Demon World migrate to the Eastern Continent, it felt like things did not line up.
“There’s nothing strange about this.”
But Maou shook his head and replied.
“I have never mentioned this to all of you before, but the Demon World was already facing a shortage of energy. Based on calculations, whether I succeed or fail in that conquest in which I lost to Emi, the demonic magic in the Demon World would be unable to support all the demons sooner or later. At this moment, Ashiya obtained the trust of the Unifying Azure Emperor. That country is a multi-ethnic country, not only do they have many undeveloped areas, there are also continuous civil wars, making it the most suitable place for demons to migrate to. Of course, we did reflect on our previous actions, so we would not cause meaningless chaos to snatch the countries from the humans.”
“……What is that supposed to mean?”
“When in Rome, do what the Romans do. Though there are many ways to do so.”
Maou said this proudly, as if he was revealing the answer to a riddle. Even if his expression strangely caused Emi to feel angry, she suddenly realised that Lailah did not react to this topic at all.
Amane and Acies did not know anything about the recent developments in Ente Isla, so it was normal for them to not show any reaction, but it was really unnatural for Lailah to have no reaction to this topic.
Then, Lailah appeared to notice her daughter’s gaze.
The side profile of her face turned pale instantly, and as if she could not withstand Emi’s gaze, she turned her face
away.
“……You already knew about it.” “Uh……”
Her mother was really bad at lying.
Emi was very shocked, but even if she continued to interrogate Maou, it would not help the situation.
Normally speaking, demons entering human countries and living there should be a large incident which was enough to shake up the whole world.
However, Maou and the others carried out their plan while clearly understanding this.
And Emi also knew that their actions were different from the past, they were not doing it based on the goal to conquer the world.
She did not know how it was related to having Libicocco work in Japan, but she could interrogate Maou about this
after listening to Farfarello’s report.
“Oh, oh yes, Farfar-san. Is Grandma, ah, Madam Din Dem Urs, with you?”
The Advance Squad from the Church Knights have just arrived, so she’s busy with many things. But she said that she wants to find a chance to have a proper chat with Lady Chiho, so she would probably contact you later on. ?
“I see……I should be free for the rest of the day today, so it should be harder for you guys on the other side, would the
Advance Squad of the Church Knights have a negative effect on all of you?”
They might be called the Advance Squad, but they are actually a survey squad sent to confirm the route of advance, so it would not affect Madam Din Dem Urs directly. In addition, with regards to the information gathered by Madam Din Dem Urs, I still have a few things to report to everyone. ?
Simply put, Farfarello’s report was then the current situation was not optimistic, but Suzuno, Emerada and Lumark were using their own methods to subtly delay the actions of the Church Knights.
Lady Crestia Bell, Emerada and Lumark have used the excuse of investigating the ice spear creating during Lady
Chiho’s archery ceremony to send people to Madam Din Dem Urs so that the information of their surrounding
situations would be gathered under her. I will also travel regularly between the Central Continent and the Goat’s
Enclosure to relay the information between both sides. ?
“That’s a huge help!”
Even if they are unable to communicate as easily or as quickly than before, the fact that they were able to find a location for communication without being suspected by others was enough to ease the burden on everyone.
“Very good, then, please deliver that thing from Sariel and discuss it with everyone and help with the communications as well.”
After saying this, Maou slapped his hand on someone’s shoulder. “Eh? Me?”
“Who else is there?”
Maou smiled at Lailah, who looked shocked.
“You’re the only one who had seen that astronaut up close and more suitable than Acies in passing on messages. In
addition, you’re the only one who whose absence would not cause any problems.” “Even if you’re talking to me, aren’t you being too mean phrasing it like that?!” “Maou and Mother are insulting me when I’m right here!”
It was not known when Acies learned this word, but it appears that she knew very well that she got insulted while Maou and Lailah were talking.
“Din Dem Urs and you are good friends, right? And you’re the only one who can compare Sariel’s and Gabriel’s
explanations and memories and conclude if there are any contradictions.”
After Maou said this, Lailah was unable to rebuke.
“Once you’re there, even if you use holy magic to fly someplace or do something, on some level, it would not be easily sensed by the people. Let Farfarello stay in Fiensi while you are responsible for flying to various places to contact people.”
“I have no choice then. I understand.”
After Lailah agreed reluctantly, Maou clapped his hands together in satisfaction.
“Good, then please bring that guy along as well.”
Maou pointed towards Kinanah, who kept sleeping without moving.
“Bring Kinanah-san over? But wasn’t be brought over to Japan because we were worried that his demonic magic would be detected by the Church?”
“That was what we thought at first, but his appetite is getting worse and worse the past few days.”
Kinanah used to continuously say things which made no sense and tire out everyone around him, but after returning from the Demon World, he would only busk in the sun while sleeping or groaning occasionally. Sometimes, he would even be quiet for the whole day.
“Since we have confirmed that the gem on his throat is the Astral Gem, if he weakens and dies, we don’t know what effect this would have on the gem, so it would be better for his physical condition if we bring him to the Demon Fortress, where we can limit the damage caused by him to a certain level even if we have to provide him with demonic magic later on…… and if he grows again and destroys the apartment, I really can’t pay for it this time.”
Maou was really concerned about Kinanah’s physical condition, but the sentence he added on afterwards was probably his true thoughts.
“Would it be fine for Lailah-san to go alone?”
Lailah suddenly looked uneasy, and Chiho, who felt worried because of this, asked this nervously.
“I know what Chi-chan wants to say, but other than her……” “Then I will go with her.”
At this moment, someone unexpectedly volunteered. It was Urushihara.
“If Kinanah is brought there, I will have nothing to do here. Camio also seems to have recovered as well.”
He was correct, but normally Urushihara would hope to have nothing to do the most, so before he spoke, no one had expected that he would actively volunteer to go.
“Uh……even if I feel uneasy having an angel go alone, but letting Lucifer go together with her is also chirp……” “Would it be alright letting Urushihara-san go as well?!”
“Stop making it sound like it’s even more worrying than having Lailah go alone!”
Camio and Chiho reacted as usual, and after Urushihara protested, he spoke while feeling rather awkward.
“Unravelling the mysteries of Heaven is also related to my origins. I just feel that it would be better to hear it. After all, even if I ask Gabriel directly, he would not tell me honestly.”
So that was how it was, Gabriel might be willing to tell Urushihara about it, but Gabriel would definitely tease him first, and because Urushihara knew this, he had not asked Gabriel about it.
Regardless of the true identity of the astronaut, when they reach Heaven, they would not have any time to leisurely solve the mystery of Urushihara’s history.
Urushihara was probably truly not interested in these things before, but if there was a chance to know about it, he would probably want to take the chance to hear about it.
“In addition, if two people travel together, one person would have the chance to escape if we meet up with any
enemies.”
“I hope we won’t end up in that situation though……”
Even if Lailah turned white as a sheet due to the uneasiness she felt, she did not say that she was not going.
“No matter what we do, we will always go through the trial and error stage. Things have gone too smoothly so far that
it feels even more uneasy that we have not encountered any obstacles so far.” “I’m so envious of Maou, it would be good if I live just like this normally.”
“It might look like that from a certain angle, but there are many things I worry about.” “Huh? What does that mean?”
Urushihara frowned while asking this, and Maou replied in an unexpectedly serious tone.
“Being in a position of only being able to watch things develop and waiting for reports while unable to take action myself is actually quite stressful. I only understood this principle recently.”
“Huh?”
“To the humans, even if they understand the principle behind some things, they will only understand the nature of it
after finding themselves in that situation.”
Urushihara did not seem to understand it well, but these were Maou’s heartfelt words, and was also a feeling which
he only understood recently.
“Urushihara, Lailah.”
Maou said their names in a serious tone.
“I’m counting on both of you. This is all of the sake of Alas=Ramus. Faced with this battle, we cannot allow any elements of doubt to exist.”
“……I get it.”
“Alright, alright. I understand.”
One hour later, Lailah carried Kinanah’s cage and used the Angel Feather Pen. As for Urushihara, he opened a ‘Gate’
using his own power, and they went to find Din Dem Urs and Farfarello together.
Emi realised that when Maou watched the two of them leave, he showed an expression which she had never seen before.
“……They will definitely be alright.”
Chiho spoke to Maou from where she was behind him.
“Grandma and Farfar-san will also help. So they would definitely reach the Demon Fortress safely.” “Yeah.”
Maou nodded without looking back, then spoke,
“I’m sorry for everything so far.”
“I’m happy that you finally understood.”
The two of them smiled without looking at each other’s faces.
Emi finally understood.
Ever since just now, Maou had been repenting.
Maou had always been confident about his own power, so he had never been conscious about the idea of ‘returning’.
However in the underground facility of the Demon World, a situation finally occurred which was sufficient to destroy
Maou’s confidence.
Because of this, Maou realised that victory and returning were not absolute.
And after understanding Maou’s feelings, Emi also realised for the first time.
Even if she reflected on her own battles in the past, this experience was also a first time for her.
This was the first time before stepping on the battlefield that she had a place she should return to, a place she must return to after the end of the battle, and people who were waiting for her.

Two days after Urushihara and Lailah travelled to Ente Isla.
A new wind of the new financial year blew through the store in front of Hatagaya station.
“Uh……”
Iwaki was unable to hide the intimidation in her eyes behind her spectacles and moved her gaze away from the person in front of her on reflex.
However, the person in front of her was so burly and even after looking away, one could still see part of their body from the corner of their vision.
Iwaki, who was petite, already felt that most people in the world were larger than her, but based on Iwaki’s social circles in the past, this person was still outside of the normal range.
Because Iwaki did not want to make the other party feel that she looked away because she was unable to withstand the pressure caused by such a large stature, Iwaki put all her effort into convincing herself that she was only looking at the resume on the table.
European males have a large build after all.
“Is something wrong?” “It, it’s nothing.”
Iwaki began to worry if she accidentally leaked out her thoughts.
She immediately brushed it off and planned to look at the other party again, but no matter what, she had to raise her line of sight and stretch her neck.
The expression of the other party as he lowered his head and looked down did not give the impression that he was angry, but it made people feel that it was scary.
However, at this moment, Iwaki did not have the option to back out of it.
After all, it was a rare opportunity that Kisaki’s most trusted employee introduced the person in front of her for the sake of supporting her.
To avoid being rude, she had to continue with the interview.
Iwaki tried hard to keep her voice steady, intentionally straightened her back in an obvious way, and began the interview.

“Uh, thank you for coming to apply for a position here today. Erhm……Libi, kuku-san?” “It’s Libicocco.”
“Eep, s, sorry.”
With a height which made him one head taller than already tall Kawada. With muscles resembling those of rugby players or wrestlers.
A face which made it difficult to read their expression and a very low pitched voice. This caused Iwaki, who got his name wrong right out of the gate, to panic completely.
“Uh, erhm, I heard that you and Maou-kun have a senior and junior relationship during your school days……”
“I am Maou-sama’s loyal servant.”
(T/N: In order to keep the pun on Maou’s name, I kept it as Maou for ?? instead of translating it as Demon King)
“Maou……sama?! Eh? Servant?!” “What’s wrong?”
“N, nothing’s wrong, yeah. Erhm, Maou-kun, ah, Maou-sama that is.”
Iwaki intentionally corrected herself when she did not need to do so, which clearly showed how flustered she was.
“I heard that you’re really good with foreign languages, erhm, Livi……Libi……Libikuku-san, was born in Italy, right?
With this, I can roughly understand why.” “…………”
“D, did I say something wrong?”
“……No, that is correct. I am Libicocco from Italy.” “I thought so?!”
What was she doing?
She could not control the flow of the conversation at all.
Until the end of the interview, Iwaki constantly worried if she would truly be flattened by the pressure exuded by the burly male.
Harbouring these feelings, even if she was breaking out in cold sweat on the inside, she still tried her best to search for opportunities to continue the conversation.
“Would it really be alright……”
Ever since Libicocco, who released all the demonic magic within him and transformed into a human, entered the store, Emi mentioned this continuously.
“What? By the way, please stop asking the same thing so many times.”
Maou asked while feeling annoyed.
“It’s normal to want to ask this a few more times. Let me say this first, if Shop Manager Iwaki is in danger, I’ll……”
“I warned him sternly beforehand that if he harms Shop Manager Iwaki even just a little, the whole Malebranche clan will have to take responsibility. That guy might have a crude personality, but he is still a Chieftain who can be reasoned with. There’s no need to worry.”
“That ?crude?part is the most worrying! Ahh, I hope Shop Manager Iwaki won’t cry.”
“She’s not a child.”
“I feel like I can’t leave her alone.”
Libicocco reached Japan this morning.
He had arrived before Urushihara and Lailah reached the Demon Fortress, but it seemed that it was simply the issue of the schedule and the speed of the ship.
Based on what Farfarello said, when Libicocco reached the Northern Continent, Urushihara and Lailah had just reached the sea between the Northern Continent and the Central Continent.
At the beginning, Libicocco could not understand why he was summoned to Japan. Even Emi, who knew the details beforehand, felt that this was too reckless.
However, with the identity of ?Libicocco Malebranche-kun, Maou’s junior and an exchange student from Italy?,
Libicocco went for an interview to become a new employee of the store in front of Hatagaya station.
The reason why he did not get a Japanese name like Maou and the others was simply because they were worried
that Libicocco’s acting skills would not be able to pull it off.
And right now, foreigners working part time was not such a rare occurrence. Hiring Libicocco would be a milestone for the future Iwaki system.
No one knew if this would be good or bad for the future, but with the current scheduling situation, they were unable to leisurely pick out who they want to hire.
“It will be fine!”
Even if Emi was filled with uneasiness, next to her, Chiho said this with a cheerful voice.
“Libicocco-san frequently spoke with the knights at the Demon Fortress. He might appear a little cold and distant,
but if I train him properly, he would definitely work hard!”
Chiho shining gaze and motivated behaviour caused Emi to laugh softly.
“……Hearing Chiho-chan say that seemed to blow away all feelings of nervousness.” “I am a General after all!”
Letting the citizens of the Demon World move to the human countries in Ente Isla. Chiho had already accepted this shocking project.
Perhaps because Chiho knew about the history of the Demon World and the Demon King Army which even Emi and Suzuno had not heard about, so her reaction to this was rather different.
In an instant, Chiho understood why Maou wanted to summon Libicocco to Japan and work as an employee in the store in front of Hatagaya station even after Chiho and the others have resigned.
Emi had been unable to understand why, but Chiho immediately explained,
“It happened a long time ago, but Maou-san had mentioned this in front of us before.”
Chiho remembered what happened the first time Farfarello and Iron came to Japan.
Chiho intentionally allowed Farfarello to take her away to understand the feelings harboured by the demons in the Demon World.
Maou, who appeared to rescue Chiho and change Farfarello’s mind, had said this to Farfarello before,
This world is filled with things which can solve the plight of the Demon World. ?
At that time, Maou took out a crumpled thousand yen note.
In order to guide his own people, Maou, as a Demon King, already had the thought of having the demons integrate as a race into the society created by the flow of money,?the human society?.
At that moment, Farfarello had been unable to accept that explanation. It was possible that it was because he was unable to understand it yet.
It was only after that commotion which happened in the Eastern Continent were the demons able to completely change their thinking.
Reasons and motivations might be things which were created only after a change in situations.
In the end, the huge empire Afsahan, who ruled the Eastern Continent, agreed to temporarily allow Alsiel and the Malebranches to rule over them.
Maou might have said that he and Ashiya discussed for ten minutes, but in reality, things were more complicated than that.
When Ashiya first met with the Unifying Azure Emperor, he was already lobbying for this plan on his own.
After he obtained command of the Hakin Knight Troops, he controlled the human governance system and successfully minimised the loss of human lives caused by the commotion.
On the surface, they might have used the Unifying Azure Emperor’s ambition to grow Afsahan into a mighty empire controlling the whole of Ente Isla, but Ashiya and the Unifying Azure Emperor reached an agreement of using the power of the demons to strengthen Afsahan’s national power, with the Unifying Azure Emperor having to accept the demons’ migration, and in order to prove that he was willing to keep his promise, the Unifying Azure Emperor also sent the people from the Hakin Knight Troops to participate in the preparations for the Battle to Defeat God.
“No matter where they migrate to, the most important part is the spirit of ?When in Rome, do what Romans do?which I mentioned before. Working, earning money, and the willingness to get along with the locals. After that, we
will have to spread the spirit which I, Ashiya and Urushihara had cultivated in Japan to the people below us. I hope
that Libicocco can be the pioneer of this movement.”
The concept of ?getting along? would probably differ greatly between each immigrant country and considering what the Demon King Army did in the past, no matter how much the Demon World compromised, there would still
be some places which would be unwilling to accept them.
For example, the Southern Continent which included Wathewlama would definitely be unable to accept the Malebraches who had invaded in the past.
On the other hand, the Northern Continent, which was more accepting of Adramelech’s conquest, would have more
clans willing to accept the Ashen Horns.
The Northern Continent only saw country boundaries as administrative boundaries, rather than calling them nation- states, they were groups form by a singular race, so the expected result would be for them to treat the well behaving demons as a new clan.
Of course the largest immigrant country should be Eastern Continent’s Afsahan Empire.
Not only was there a significant difference in the country’s size, it was originally a multi-racial country with never ending civil wars. Therefore it was easier for outsiders to fit in.
In contrast, the Western Continent countries, which are made up of one race or a multi-racial country ruled by an overwhelming majority from a single race with strong national consciousness would probably be unaccepting of demons.
Because the spirit based on the holy nature of the Theocracy was deeply rooted there, their reaction towards demons would be much stronger compared to other continents.
Therefore Maou and Ashiya intentionally gave up having the demons migrate to the Western Continent nations from the start, predicting that doing so would make it easier to gain favour from the other nations.
The Western Continent had more countries than the other continents, but under the rule of the Theocracy, their unity and ability in military and production was stronger than the other continents.
To chase after achievements and power which could truly rival the Western Continent, the Unifying Azure Emperor immediately decided to accept the demons.
Of course, the Northern Continent and the Southern Continent had similar thoughts that the demons who had been the invaders would probably be attacked frequently after they migrate.
But after overcoming these factors, what they truly had to instil was ?When in Rome, do what Romans do?. They could not cause those humans who choose to accept them to lose face.
That was the most important thing.
To cultivate this mentality, and to spread this mentality starting from the upper ranks, the ones who were chosen in the end were Farfarello and Libicocco, the ones who chose to communicate with words during their first meeting
with Chiho, ?a normal person from a foreign world?with no fighting ability.
“I have already communicated with Libicocco beforehand in detail about the importance of this matter, his achievements and rarity of this skills, as well as how the future of the demons rests on his actions. The Malebranches are not idiots. In the first place, they are a clan consisting of different characteristics, a race which built a society with a long history in the Demon World together. After joining the Demon King Army, they have also thought about how to respect the other party while ensuring that they could protect the bottom line of their clan which they should never compromise. Don’t worry, he’s a capable guy.”
After seeing Maou’s serious side profile, Emi could only surrender.
“I get it, but can’t be make his body a little smaller? That stature would probably get in the way a lot when moving around in the kitchen.”
If Libicocco, who was much larger than Kawada, walked around in the kitchen of the store in front of Hatagaya station, which could not be considered big at all, it would make for a very shocking scene.
However, Maou stuck up his thumb confidently.
“Relax. After he gets hired, I will ask him to take a driver’s license. After Kisaki-san leaves, the number of delivery staff will decrease. I want him to be in charge of moving around outside.”
“……That is equally worrying.”
When Emi first reunited with Maou, she was so afraid that she did not dare avert her line of sight from Maou or Villa Rosa Sasazuka.
Currently, her mind was filled with worries about Libicocco causing some problems when he was performing deliveries on his own.
Then with a serious expression, Maou said this to the worried Emi.
“When that time comes, I will take full responsibility. So I wish to ask the both of you to first watch over him for now.” “Maou-san.”
“……I do, wish to trust him.”
Emi could not agree to this flippantly.
She was already able to trust Maou, Ashiya and Urushihara. But that was because they were Maou, Ashiya and Urushihara.
Asking her to trust in a demon who just arrived in Japan, just like how she trusted them, was that truly the correct decision?
Just as Emi prepared to honestly express her uneasiness.
“T, then, because the store does not have a uniform which you can wear, I will order it first.” “……Alright, I understand.”
Iwaki walked out of the Employee Room in a flustered manner while talking to Libicocco.
“If it’s XL size, you could probably fit. Erhm, I know about your accommodation situation, so I will not force you, but if it’s possible, I hope you can provide a phone number for easy contact.”
“……Must I have one?”
“No need, no need! It’s totally fine, I’ll just have to contact you via Maou-sama, right?! Y, yeah, I also feel that it is
more convenient this way, how should I say this, you don’t have to force yourself!” “……I will discuss with my senior and prepare a phone as soon as possible.”
“Is, is, is that so? T, thank you! T, there’s really no need to force yourself to do it!!”
Their conversation was very unnatural.
““Something probably happened……””
Emi and Chiho could not help but say this softly.
At this moment, the pair happened to walk past the counter where Maou and the others were.
“E, erhm, Maou-sama.”
“Shop Manager, what’s wrong? Erhm, addressing me with -sama suddenly like this is a little…”
Maou, who did not know why things turned out like this, gave Libicocco a sideways glance, but the latter only closed his eyes and shook his head lightly.
“E, erhm. Maou-kun. Erhm, I, decided to hire your friend.” “Eh?”
Emi’s exclamation did not reach anyone’s ears.
“It’s just that, erhm, because there’s no uniform, I have to ask for an order. I will discuss the schedule with him next Monday. Therefore, erhm, with regards to the contact method, I will first register Maou-sama, no, Maou-kun’s mobile number first, is that alright?”
“I understand. But it should be rather inconvenient like this. Libicocco, let’s buy a mobile phone together later.” “……Understood.”
“T, that’s true, it would be great if that could be done! E, erhm, with regards to the Moped license, the company will provide subsidies, so there’s no need to be overly anxious about it, then, we’ll meet again to discuss the work schedule.”
“……I understand. Thank you very much.” Libicocco bent over at the waist, giving a bow. “Eep! No, I should be the one thanking you……”
Libicocco’s body blocked out the lights in the store, causing Iwaki, who misunderstood that she was going to be
squashed by that huge figure, to instantly flinch back.
“He might appear to be stoic, but he’s actually an honest and sincere guy. Please guide him well. You know how to
go back, right?”
“Yes, I’m fine. Then, I’ll be leaving first.”
After Libicocco bowed once again to everyone present, he left quietly.
“Shop Manager, thank you very much for making time to interview him.”
“Yeah, I’m the one who should be thankful. I never thought that we could hire someone so quickly, erhm, it really is a huge help. He doesn’t seem to have any problems with Japanese, it’s just that, honestly he does look kind of scary……”
This comment was a little too honest, but on the contrary, it also meant that Libicocco successfully completed the interview with Iwaki.
Chiho touched Emi’s arm lightly and blinked once at her, and Emi shook her head as if she had given up.
At least from the current situation, just like what Maou said, Libicocco did possess the determination to integrate into Japan.
“He arrived in Japan not long ago, so his expression is still stiff. I will ask him to practice how to smile at home.”
After Maou said this, Iwaki shook her head and replied,
“Let him get used to living in Japan first. If he does not accumulate various experiences, he will definitely get very confused. From how he is very fluent in Japanese, he must have researched a lot when he was in school or in his home country, but there will still be some slight differences in real life.”
Even if she was very afraid of Libicocco, Iwaki still gave a flexible response with a determined attitude. This caused Maou to smile happily as he bowed his head slightly and said,
“That does make sense. I understand. Thank you very much.”
“I should be thanking you. Hm, but what if the XL size is too small. Ah, that’s right, nametags! Li, Livi……hm, the pronunciation is hard. Oh yeah, Maou-kun. The nametag will have to be written in katakana, but how should his name be written?”
“Ah, that’s true. How should it be written? Using his full name will be too crowded and make it unreadable.” With a smile, Chiho watched Iwaki and Maou discuss how to write Libicocco’s name on the nametag.
“It might just be a small step, but I hope the demons can build up a place for them to belong little by little, just like
this.” “Yeah……maybe.” Emi replied vaguely. “Yeah.”
It was impossible for Chiho to miss out on the reason for Emi’s hesitation.
She still declared this despite sensing Emi’s feelings, because no matter what, Chiho wanted to draw a boundary. Placing both Emi and her stances within the same drawn line.
And Emi knew Chiho’s feelings very well.
So----
“Libicocco’s new hire training, who’s going to be in charge of that?”
“For Libicocco’s benefit, it would be best for someone other than me to do it. Shop Manager Iwaki is probably thinking the same thing.”
Ten o’ clock at night.
Emi, who matched her working schedule to the time Chiho was supposed to go home, finished changing first and went to the counter on the second floor.
After Emi used her phone to check the time, she pointed towards the counter.
“I want a large hot latte. There’s no need to charge employee price.” “Huh?”
“I will pay properly.” “……”
Since she said that she would pay, then whether the other party was the Hero or an employee, Maou had to prepare the order for the customer.
“After Chi-chan comes out, go back quickly.”
After saying this, Maou served the coffee.
“I will finish it quickly.”
Emi took out a thousand yen note and received six hundred and sixty yen in change.
After Emi glanced at the four coins of 500 yen, 100 yen, 50 yen and 10 yen, she smiled slightly.
Then Emi took the hot cup of latte from Maou’s hands and sighed. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing much, I just thought that even if it’s such a simple thing.” “Hm?”
“Nah, it’s nothing.”
After putting the small change into her wallet, Emi raised the cup and drank a mouthful.
“Hey, go find a seat and drink. A customer might come……” “If a customer comes, I’ll go back.”
“……If you want to say something, just say it. Normally, if you drag things out in front of me, it means that you’re thinking about some unnecessary things and accumulated a lot of unhappy feelings.”
“Since you know that so well, then shut up and let me vent.” “Please don’t treat me as a sandbag.”

Maou begin to keep the coffee powder and filter cup used to brew the latte and placed the milk into the fridge.
“I’m rather surprised. Because Kisaki-san would normally not announce the interview results on the spot.”
“It’s not that strange. He filled in my mobile phone as his contact information, so it’ll be the same regardless of when the results are announced. In addition, we’re already shorthanded, so we don’t have the luxury of choosing people.”
“That’s true. We never expected five people to resign at once.”
“Sigh, no matter what, we can’t ask the demons to fill up all five spaces, but finding someone to fill in the gap I created should exempt me from being prosecuted by a higher being right?”
“I pity those subordinates who were forced to go with your plan.”
“In the long term, this will help their future. So what’s so pitiable about that?” “Is that so? Alright. Sorry, I went too far. It’s just that I can’t really accept it.”
“I know your feelings on it are complex but compromise a bit when he joins and get along with him properly with
your status as a senior.”
“Alright, alright, I get it. I have also accepted the considerate and detailed guidance from Senpai, so I will work hard to emulate Senpai’s behaviour. And I will not involve my personal feelings into work.”
“Seriously, you.”
“Thanks for the service. But it’s a bit too bitter for me.”
During their short conversation, Emi had already finished the large cup of hot latte. Maou could only unhappily accept the empty cup which Emi handed over.
At that moment, the sound of Chiho saying goodbye to the employees downstairs could be heard. Emi left the counter and with her back facing Maou, she waved slightly.
“Hey, Demon King.” “Yeah?”
“If your large scale demon immigration plan progresses smoothly.” “Yes?”
As Emi continued to face her back to Maou, she pushed her hands into the pockets of her thin jacket, and with a stiff tone which caused others to recall her past self, she turned and spoke to Maou,
“Where do you plan to continue being King?” “Hm?”
“Aren’t you planning to help in Kisaki-san’s company three years later?” “Yes.”
“At that time……”
He felt Emi’s voice was trembling slightly, it should not be a product of Maou’s imagination. Then why was Emi’s voice trembling?
With regards to this, even the person herself would not know the reason.
“At that time……who would you be?”
After the citizens he ruled move to the human world, then how would the existence, who was the King of Demons, change?
“Because you seem to have misunderstood something, let me clarify something to you first.”
Maou begin to clean the equipment which likely would not be used anymore today.
“It’s impossible to move all the demons to Ente Isla. There will still be many demons in the Demon World.” “……Staying in that place? If demonic magic disappears, even food and water would be a problem……”
“It’s not like there’s nothing at all. It’s just like since there has not been a need until now, no one has searched for them nor produced them. But there will be a need later on. The migration plan is also important, but for the sake of those guys who do not wish to leave the Demon World, there are still a lot of things to do. And……”
After Maou washed off the bubbles from the washing liquid from his hands, he looked up and said,
“The ghosts will laugh at you for talking about next year before the current year has ended. Who knows what will
happen in three years?”
“You’re a working adult. Just predict it a little. What do you plan to do three years later?”
“Then three years ago, have you ever thought about working in the same place as me in the future?” “……Not at all.”
Maou did not respond, making it difficult for Emi to rebuke.
“See. That’s how things are. Everything will work out in the end. Don’t worry, I will do my best so as not to anger
you.”
“You can’t just do your best, you definitely cannot make me angry.”
“Don’t be unreasonable. How is it possible for me not to anger you at all? Just working hard to get along with you is my limit.”
“You got guts to say that. You’re already irritating me a little from the get-go.” Emi said this with a smile.
She already believed that Maou would not honestly voice his inner thoughts anyway. But with just this, she felt much more relaxed.
“Yusa-san, sorry for the wait! The contents of my coin bag spilled into the cabinet……eh?”
Chiho was only halfway up the stairs when she noticed Emi standing in front of the counter in an unnatural manner, causing her to show a confused expression.
“Ah, yeah. It’s nothing. Then let’s go back.”
But Emi immediately turned towards Chiho and began to head downstairs.
“Ah, alright. Maou-san, thank you for the hard work.”
She felt confused, but Chiho still followed Emi’s instructions and turned around to go home after energetically waving
her hand at Maou.
“Three years later, what kind of person will I be, huh.”
Before Emi asked this question, Maou had already thought about this many times.
Or more accurately, ever since Maou knew about the plan for the citizens of the Demon World to migrate to Ente Isla, which was crafted without his knowledge by Ashiya and the Unifying Azure Emperor during the period when the Eastern Continent was in turmoil, he had been thinking about this question.
“Since I said ?impossible?……it’s really embarrassing. Who would expect for things to turn out like this one year
ago……who knows what will change in three years.”
Maou recalled those memories which were so painful that they were funny.
“Finding a new life for myself?”
Maou looked at the empty second floor of MgRonalds and showed a troubled smile.
“What kind of person would I be in three years? It feels like it’s not something decided by me.” “What are you mumbling about?”
At that moment, another familiar figure walked up the stairs which Emi and Chiho just left from.
“Kisaki-san.”
“It’s still working hours, you know.”
“Sorry. I got careless and voiced my uneasiness for the future.” Kisaki was not wearing an employee’s uniform but a suit.
“I heard it from Shop Manager Iwaki. You seemed to have brought over a promising new employee immediately.”
“It’s just a coincidence. The timing was just right. As for whether he’s promising, it would depend on his performance in the future.”
“Even so, you’ve been a huge help. In a certain sense, this is a good opportunity. Allowing Shop Manager Iwaki to increase the number of employees personally trained by her as soon as possible is a good thing too.”
“Ah, but please do not worry. That person may be my junior, but I will try to best to avoid forming a weird clique.” “Sometimes, being too bothered by such things will blackfire. Just act natural. As long as everyone is considerate of
each other and work, the situation will stablise eventually…… I might have said that, but I immediately feel that the
relationships at my new department are troublesome. Oh yeah, Maa-kun.” “Yes?”
“I would like a regular blend coffee.” “……Alright.”
Maou straightened his back and made flexible use of the equipment and coffee beans which have been adjusted to their optimal states over the course of the day with the reputation of MgRonald’s Barista on the line, brewing the blend coffee which was written at the top of the menu, pouring it into a regular sized cup, placing it on top of a saucer and tray and handing it to Kisaki.
“Do you need milk or sugar?” “It’s fine. I’ll just drink it black.”
Kisaki accepted the tray, sat at a seat closest to the counter and immediately drank a mouthful of coffee. The next five seconds was a nervous period for Maou.
“It’s not bad.”
He passed. Though he still could not get the comment that it was delicious. But after Kisaki drank another mouthful in satisfaction, she looked at Maou.
“I don’t know how both of us will change from now on, but I will definitely fulfil my promise. I hope that three years
later, I would be able to hear a positive answer from you.” “Please work hard to make me want to give a positive answer.” “That’s what you said.”
Kisaki narrowed her eyes happily then place the cup back on the saucer.
“I leave the rest to you.”
“Leave it to me. I will handle things properly.”
At this point, there was no need to say anything more.
Even if there was a need, that would be something for three years later. Maou and Kisaki both knew this very well.
Kisaki would leave the store tomorrow.
She rejected the farewell party planned by Akiko but expressed that she would have a one-on-one conversation with everyone, and what Kisaki left for Maou were words of gratitude and farewell.
“It was fortunate to be able to work together with you.”

And after that, three more days passed.
“Listen well! Basically, as long as you hear the sound of the automatic door opening, then say Welcome first.” “……Alright.”
“If the customer is from the lower years in elementary school, then try your best to match their line of sight! That child
just now seemed a little scared, so you have to bend down a little and speak of him slowly with a kind tone!” “……Alright.”
“Then, clean the trays first! The alcohol disinfectant spray is here, so first use this to spray the front and back, then use this already sanitised cloth to wipe them. If there is no more disinfectant spray, then go to the shelf at the stock entry point to find the backup one……”
“…………Alright.”
“That’s good. It feels like things are going rather smoothly.” “T, that’s right.”
Iwaki, who looked reassured, and Emi, who showed a troubled smile, watched a large figure and a petite figure wipe trays behind the counter.
The first day since Libicocco was formally hired.
Kawada was responsible giving him the new hire training, but since Kawada was out on delivery now, Chiho was now teaching him simple tasks.
Libicocco, who would normally unscrupulously call Chiho an ant, was now-----
“Chiho-senpai……I broke the tray.”
“Y, you used too much force! How are you able to snap such a hard object?!” “……Sorry.”
Able to converse normally with Chiho, treating her like a senior at work.
“Perhaps Libicocco-kun brought a wave of good luck, there are two more people scheduled for interviews today. Of course, I will still choose carefully, but I finally feel that I can see hope.”
“T, that’s really good.”
Emi did not wish to put a dampener on Iwaki who was feeling happy, so she could only nod like this.
Iwaki seemed to have put effort into practicing the pronunciation of ? Libicocco ? , but every time she said
Libicocco-kun?, the Hero DNA rooted into her blood would cause Emi to become wary on reflex.
Even though she felt that she would probably maintain a state of heightened alert for no reason today, Emi still returned to her work together with Iwaki.
At this moment, new customers entered the store. Chiho looked up and said loudly in a cheerful voice, “Welcome!”
“……”
“Libicocco-san.” “……Ah, w, welcome!”
Libicocco was still unable to respond at the same time as Chiho.
“You’re busy with this and that, yet you’re able to hear such a soft sound……”
“You will hear it once you’re used to it. Welcome. For the customers who have decided what to order, please head to
the counter over there……ah.”
Chiho approached to welcome the new customers and got a shock when she recognised the other party.
“Kao, Koumura-kun, welcome!” “Hi, Sasachi.”
“Yo.”
The newly arrived customers were Kaori and Yoshiya.
“How has today been?”
“I just returned from remedial class, then Shouji suddenly said that she wanted to come here.” “Kao did?”
Chiho looked at Kaori and she smiled while feeling rather perplexed.
“Yeah, think about it, we’re already third years, right? Once I thought that it would not be long before I cannot see
Sasachi wearing a work uniform, I thought I should take the chance to come.”
Kaori stumbled over her words, but Chiho did not feel suspicious about it.
“I can’t hide things from Kao after all.” “Eh?”
“If you have time later, you can find us at our seats. For now, can we order first?” “Ah, yeah.”
“Right. Ah, I have a discount coupon.”
“Alright, I understand. Please line up your discount coupon against that machine.”
Chiho efficiently helped the pair take their orders----
“Please wait over there for a while. Libicocco-san, please take out one salad from the fridge over there. Then pour ice
into the large size cup.” “……Alright.”
While giving clear instructions to Libicocco.
“……Chiho-senpai, are these fries enough?”
“That’s fine. Because the customer only ordered a small fries. Alright, since there’s a chance to do so, please watch
carefully. First use this part of the scoop to open the paper bag, then pour in the fries like this.” “……The paper bag is too soft, so it feels like it’ll be hard to fill up.”
“You might have to wait until you’re used to it to be able to fill it up in one try, take this chance to learn it. Ah, the burgers are ready. First confirm the details before placing it in the right tray. You can read kanji right? If there are words you don’t know, you have to ask, alright?”
“……Alright. This is fine.”
With stiff movements, Libicocco arranged Kaori’s and Yoshiya’s orders. “……Thank you for waiting.”
“Thanks.”
When faced with Libicocco’s stature, Kaori and Yoshiya flinched a little, but they still received the trays naturally and sat down after finding empty seats.
After Libicocco watched the pair lave, he sighed softly.
“It feels like my eyes are spinning.”
“It would always be harder at the beginning. I was the same.”
“It’s not an issue of being used to it or not. Once I think that humans have to eat so many types of things for one meal, I feel frustrated.”
“The number of items in MgRonalds is considered few, you know. The meals of the people in Ente Isla are more diverse.” “……”
Because he could not refute what Chiho said, Libicocco had nothing to say in response.
“I will leave for a bit. I will come back immediately if customers come, practice saying Welcome first.” “……Alright.”
After the flow of customers have settled down, Chiho left the counter quickly, and rushed to Kaori and Yoshiya. Kaori and Yoshiya seemed to be paying attention to Chiho, so the two of them looked up to wait for her.
Because she could not leave Libicocco alone for long, Chiho cut to the main topic immediately.
“Kao, you’re correct. I will be quitting my job this month.” “I thought so.”
“Haah~ this is something which can’t be helped. After you resign, what will you do with the freed up time? Are you going to remedial classes?”
“I don’t have concrete plans yet, but I will probably go later on. My current environment makes it hard for me to focus on studying when I’m by myself.”
“Oh?”
Kaori replied flippantly, but these were Chiho’s true thoughts.
If Chiho just resigned from her part time work and there was no restraining force, she would definitely worry about the matters concerning Maou and the others and be unable to focus on studying.
Once she had free time, she would want to help Maou. And Maou and the others definitely had some miscellaneous
things which require Chiho’s power.
Things could not go on like this.
They need to settle their own matters before they have any excess energy to help each other. And what Chiho had to do now was not delivering cooking to the hungry Maou.
If her wish was fulfilled in the future due to some amazing opportunity, for the sake of truly being helpful to them, right now, Chiho had to work hard to grow into that kind of person.
In order to grow into an amazing person who can hold her head high around Maou and the others who had accomplished great things, Chiho had to strongly show her determination to herself and the outsiders that she intended to fulfil her role as a third year high school student.
“Of course, other than studying, if there are other things which only I can do, I wish to do that as well.”
“I don’t understand that well, but since the troubles in your heart have dissipated, then it should be considered a good thing.”
“Did I act that troubled?”
“Did you think you could hide that from me?” “No, I don’t think so. Sorry.”
She was no match for Kaori. Chiho stuck her tongue out with a troubled expression.
“That large sized person, could it be Sasachi’s junior?”
As if Kaori was announcing that this topic had ended, she started a new topic, and Chiho nodded, replying,
“He is our newest employee right now. Because the person in charge of his training happened to go out, I am responsible for teaching him about work now.”
“Oh…… it feels like it was not that long ago that Sasachi mentioned undergoing training, you’re really amazing. Now you’re capable of teaching that uncle.”
Thinking about it, Kaori and Yoshiya had seen how Chiho was performing at work when she just entered this store.
Once she thought about what happened at that time, Chiho felt a little embarrassed, but that was considered a beautiful memory.
“He’s actually still rather young. Don’t call him an uncle……ah, welcome……”
At this moment, the sound of the automatic door opening was heard, Chiho turned around on reflex and welcomed the newly arrived customer with a smile, but Libicocco seemed to have noticed this sound earlier than she had.
“W, welcome ahh!!”
A deep bass voice which vibrated within the store and shocked everyone was heard. Chiho, Kaori and Yoshiya could not help but shrink back as well.
After Chiho apologised to the pair by putting her hands together, she rushed back to the counter frantically. Iwaki and Emi, who had just entered the kitchen, also rushed outside to check the situation.
“W, welcome, the counter here will serve you,”
Libicocco, who was only on his first day of work, still did not know how to use the cashier, so Emi took his place in serving the customers while Chiho reminded him softly at the back.
“Libicocco-san, I did say that you have to greet loudly, but I didn’t ask you to shout! Please listen to the voices of the
seniors around you, then match their volume! You can’t shout too loudly.” “……Tsk, this is troublesome……”
Libicocco complained in a volume which only Chiho could hear.
It seemed that the fact that he was unable to smoothly learn various tasks caused him to feel very frustrated.
Chiho sensed that Emi was listening carefully to their conversation while she was serving the customers. For the sake of Libicocco’s future, Chiho could only use the hidden technique which she had saved for occasions like this. She placed one hand on her waist, and lectured Libicocco sternly, acting like a senior.
“Ilacol tuka ilaborg neets, Libicocco (Libicocco, when in Rome, do what Romans do)” “!”
“?!”
With this, not just Libicocco, even Emi who was serving the customers could not help but turn towards Chiho.
Chiho was speaking Ente Isla’s Central Trading Language, Kenturient.
The night Farfarello communicated with them, acting like Chiho’s grandmother in Nagano, Din Dem Urs called her to ask about her recent situation.
During this phone call which lasted longer than expected, when the topic of accepting the demon’s migration was
coincidentally brought up, Chiho suddenly thought of a question.
Which would be how to say ?When in Rome, do what Romans do? in Ente Islan language.
For Chiho to be able to convey this sentence to the demons, Din Dem Urs taught her to use a language known as Kenturient which Adramelech had also used before.
After that, Din Dem Urs got worked up and wanted to help Chiho find the best language teacher, causing Chiho to spend some effort to calm her down, but from how Libicocco was acting, Chiho believed that asking how to say this sentence beforehand had been the correct decision.
After Chiho shocked Libicocco by determinedly using the Kenturient language, she said in Japanese,
“Demon King-sama and Alsiel-san have always showed this kind of spirit. If such a small thing is enough for you lose heart, both of them will laugh at you.”
Once Chiho mentioned Maou’s and Ashiya’s names, Libicocco was unable to rebuke. He shifted his gaze away from Chiho in embarrassment, cleared his throat, and said, “……I understand. Seriously……a, ahem, w, welcome.”
“That’s good! Just like that!”
Chiho patted Libicocco’s back once, and the latter went back to work awkwardly.
Emi showed an expression like she really want to ask Chiho some questions, but the surrounding situation did not allow her to do so, therefore she could only go back to work obediently.
Iwaki, who had been observing the pair from the shadows, breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that Libicocco was
following Chiho’s instructions without protest, then turned around and left quietly.
Then----
“It seemed like she has already gotten rid of her troubles.”
Kaori watched Chiho acting like that from afar and nodded in satisfaction. After Chiho began to work in this store, she did change after all.
The instability she had shown when she decided to work here in April of their second year because she was troubled about her future path had disappeared without a trace.
Even if she felt troubled or that things were difficult, Chiho would no longer hesitate, and would definitely not stop moving forward.
From the interactions between Chiho and the new hire with a large stature, after seeing the large figure of the other
Sasaki Chiho?outside the range of being a ?friend?, Kaori believed this strongly.
“I have to work harder as well.” “I, too……”
“Hm? What’s wrong, Yoshiya, why do you look so serious all of a sudden?”
“Uh, because Sasaki just used a foreign language without hesitation to lecture her junior……one year ago, she was already at her limit trying to keep up with her senior. When people start working, do they become capable of doing such things……oh damn, I became overconfident just because I started going to remedial classes. I can’t go on like this, I don’t think I can become like that in one year.”
“You don’t need to become like that in the first place, but if you can start working hard because of this, isn’t that good? Why don’t we discuss with Sasachi, and have the three of us challenge the same university?”
“……Just thinking about studying in the same school as Shouji is harsh enough, if I want to study in the same school as Sasaki, it would be even harsher.”
“Hey, show me some motivation! How can you admit defeat before a battle!” Chiho’s killer move also showed its effect in an unexpected place.
Kisaki Mayumi was going to leave, and more employees would be leaving afterwards, even Chiho was preparing to leave this store.
At this moment, Libicocco, a new employee which could be termed as a giant star in various ways, appeared, and Emi could not imagine the effect he would cause to this store.
It was just that after listening to the conversation between Chiho and Libicocco from the side, Emi made a huge decision.
From how Libicocco broke the tray, she could tell that unlike Maou, Ashiya, Urushihara and also Farfarello from the same Malebranche clan, Libicocco was not that good at controlling the human body.
Urushihara mentioned before that it could not be seen from their appearance, the Malebranches’ hands were very
nimble, it was just that the situation could be different in many ways after transforming into a human body. Even if the person himself did not have such intentions, that power might still cause a commotion.
Therefore----
“…… I have to come back alive.”
The reasons why she could not lose in the Battle to Defeat God had increased by one.
To the best of her ability, Emi wanted to protect the store in front of Hatagaya station, which was very important to herself, Chiho, Maou, Kisaki, as well as Iwaki and Libicocco.
This was for the sake of the people and things which Emi treasured.
For the sake of her comrades who were currently working hard in Ente Isla.
“Also….to reach a conclusion as soon as possible, to make it possible to work in July……”
Just like this, Emi reached her decision strongly.
