Chen Chunzai pondered for a moment and told Guo Liang, “I admire your child, he has good potential . Hmm, I have a Moon Fire Gem here . It’s a gift… of sorts . This Fire Gem can be used six times and then it must be recharged again with magic power, but remember, it will become useless after fully using it 8 times in a row . ”

Guo Liang was delighted . This was a gem crafted by a Rune Master who was much superior than a Rune priest . A Rune master’s gem is much more powerful and with this Moon Fire Gem, he could at least double his strength . He thanked him repeatedly and carefully put the Moon Fire Gem into his pouch while gazing at Guo Shi’er with incomparable warmth .

Guo Shi’er laughed bitterly to himself . His father in this life was so snobbish . He couldn’t feel any resentment and just smiled indifferently .

Guo Liang said, “Please take care of him, Master Chen . This child is very sincere . ”

Hearing this, Guo Shi’er tried not to laugh out loud . In his previous life, he was a Lama and he had to be very honest, chanting sutras all day long . He lived for more than sixty years and never went a hundred miles away from the temple, but in his second life, he had to undergo a lot of hardships and tribulations . At that moment, Guo Shi’er felt his father’s concern and despite the small amount of money, he nodded his head with a smile and said, “Thank you, father!”

Guo Liang looked at Chen Chunzai, swiftly went into the inner room and after a moment came out holding a wooden casket . He said, “Master Chen, this is a piece of broken bone I obtained a long time ago from when I was training . I’ve always wanted to sell it for a good price, but it’s a pity no one knows how to use it . I kept it ever since and would like to give it to you, Master Chen . ”

Guo Shi’er curiously leaned . Chen Chunzai wasn’t too concerned and casually opened the wooden box . His eyes averted as soon as he opened it, “Eh? Natural bone markings!” They were remnant pieces of bones the size of an adult’s palm . The bone piece was snow-white and had a faint pale blue pattern on it .

Chen Chunzai placed one of the bone remnants on his forehead and stared at the pale blue patterns on the bone changing to a fluorescent cyan . After a long while, Chen Chunzai’s face revealed a hint of joy and he said, “Not bad, it’s actually a complete Natural Bone marking . A nice gift . I didn’t expect a collection of treasures from you . ”

Seeing Guo Shi’er’s curiosity, Chen Chunzai smiled and handed him the remaining bones, saying, “I’m not sure what kind of beast’s bones are these, but these are certainly the bones of an ancient beast . Only a few are left with such exquisite bone markings nowadays . ”

Guo Shi’er carefully collected the remaining bones . Chen Chunzai smiled, “There’s no need to be so careful . Having such exquisite and profound bone markings means that these bones are very hard . Unluckily, they are too fragmented and only one complete bone mark remains . If they were larger, these bones would be worth much more . ”

Guo Shi’er examined a bone in his hand . It was incomprehensible as it was completely different from his previous life . It didn’t show any similarities to any of the animals he knew . The remaining bones in his hands were glittering like jade as if they were naturally formed stones and possessed a unique sense of beauty .

Guo Shi’er followed Chen Chunzai’s gesture and placed the remnant bones on his forehead and the bones soon glittered with a faint fluorescence . Chen Chunzai was awestruck and astonished in his heart . Just like himself, the child can also excite the bone marks on the broken bones . Only a few Rune Masters were able to do that .

The lines on the bone remnants were very complex . Guo Shi’er got dizzy quickly from all the winding . He put down the remnant bones, shook his head vigorously and said, “Ugh, those were complicated lines…”

Chen Chunzai seriously asked, “Shi’er, are you able to perceive the lines? Were they clear?”

Chen Chunzai put away the bone remnants and called a Fu warrior to take Guo Shi’er’s wicker boxes . He asked for Guo Liang’s permission and then left with Guo Shi’er .

Guo Liang accompanied them to the gate and stood at the door to see them off .

After walking for a bit, Guo Shi’er looked back and realized that his father (in this life) was still standing at the gate . A question appeared in his mind, “Why was the affection of the people here so different, both outside and inside?” Superficially, his father didn’t care about his child as much, but he was just hiding that affection deep within . That night, Guo Shi’er did not return to his original house . He stayed with Chen Chunzai at the Noble Guest Place .

The next day, Guo Da Guan, the clan head, brought the parents to see their children off . There were forty children in total who would be definitely saying goodbye this time . Fourteen children, four with Charm potential, nine with Spell potential and Guo Shi’er with Rune potential . As for the children with relatively good Warrior Potential, only twenty-six of them were selected .

The Guo Clan built and lived in a city next to a large river, called the Qing Chang River .

Here, apart from using special means to travel, the most convenient and safe way was to travel by boat . Walking through the forest was very dangerous while boats were fast and safe . No one would prefer walking over the boat .

There were three sailboats in total . Chen Chunzai, with fourteen children and ten or so Fu warriors occupied one sailboat . The leading sailboat was occupied by Master Hong Changfeng, who also had ten or so Fu warriors with him, as well as an Ice spellcaster, and the other twenty-six children boarded the last sailboat .

Unlike the other children, Guo Shi’er was very quiet . Chen Chunzai was amazed at how excited the other children were after boarding the boat . Most of them were playing on the deck, but Guo Shi’er followed Master Chen into the boat cabin . He sat down and asked, “Master Chen, is there a book to read here?”

Chen Chunzai was surprised, “You can read and write?”

Guo Shi’er nodded and said, “I know a little . ” He couldn’t guarantee that the writing here was exactly the same as in his previous life, so he had some reservations .

Chen Chunzai swiped at his waist and a few pale-colored books appeared in his hand . Guo Shi’er was surprised and couldn’t help but ask, “Master Chen, where did you have those books? How did they appear at once?”

“It’s a bag for storing gems and runes . It can be used by mages, warriors and spellcasters . Well, Angelic ranks can’t use it, you have to be at least Ancient . It can be used to hold gems or some small runes . It can’t hold big things but you can make one yourself later . ”

Guo Shi’er’s was shocked . There were actually bags to store treasures .  

In his previous world, that was a device that only appeared in novels, but in this world, it actually existed and could be made indigenously . He couldn’t help but dream to be a mage .

There were three books in total .

Guo Twelve picked up one of them and saw two big characters on the yellow-brown cover – ‘Theory of Beasts”‘ . The two books on the table were ‘Mystic Flora’ and ‘Journal of Gems’ .

Chen Chunzai said, “These are the contents that a Victor rank needs to learn, and since you have free time on the ship and you are able to read, you should read these first! If there is anything you don’t understand, you can come and ask . I’ll be here in the next cabin . ”

Guo Shi’er was overjoyed and thanked him repeatedly, “Excellent! Thank you . Thank you, Master Chen . ”

Chen Chunzai was very happy and said in a soft voice, “Don’t get too exhausted . When you have free time, you can go on deck and relax . It’s a long journey of about three months . ” After saying that, he left the cabin .

Guo Shi’er couldn’t wait to open the ‘Theory of Beasts’ . It was a book that examined beasts and systematically described the beasts in this world . He realised that the animals here were somewhat similar to his last world, even the names were similar, but they couldn’t be compared to each other .

For example, the wolf, a beast recorded in the ‘Theory of Beasts’, is very similar to the wolves in the original world, but the wolves here are divided into many subspecies, awesome! The calf-sized violent toothed rabid wolves, which were described in the book, were so strong that not even the Fu Warriors were their match . However, this type of wolf was not abundant . Most wolves were ordinary, though they were also very powerful, quick and had sharp teeth and claws . It was hard for ordinary people to escape when they encountered them .

There were more than fifty kinds of animals recorded in the ‘Theory of Beasts’ and most of them were land-based, only a few were birds . It was enlightening to Guo Shi’er .

There were also many rare species recorded in the ‘Mystic Flora’, with many tree names similar to those of his previous world, but the rare trees weren’t used for making furniture here . Instead, they were used for spells and charms, and many of them were used as rune-making materials that were by spellcasters and mages .

As for the ‘Journal of Gems’, they were records of stone and jade materials . They were also materials for making charms .

A month passed and Guo Shi’er was having a great time, not at all impatient . Experiences in his previous life taught him not to be anxious . He had not only finished reading the three books, but also completely memorized them thanks to his strong soul .

Guo Shi’er often ran to Chen Chunzai for advice . After all, he was still very unfamiliar with this world and he didn’t want to waste his free time, so he made good use of it . In over a month of studying, Guo Shi’er clearly understood this . This world was cruel . Not only did you have to fight with beasts but also with the savages in the wilderness . There were even secret realms with strange existences and many rare materials for casting incantations . So those who wanted to enter those secret realms should always be ready to fight .

Even a Rune master like Chen Chunzai couldn’t fathom this world . Guo Shi’er was brimming with curiosity and awe at this new world .

The weather was becoming cold and the trees were shedding leaves along the riverbank . Guo Shi’er stood on the deck wearing a set of leather robes . This set of leather robes was given to him by Chen Chunzai since he couldn’t find any suitable clothes in the wicker box that basically only contained a single coat and pants . According to Chen Chunzai, if he wore that single coat and pants, he would definitely freeze to death before reaching his destination .

The Qing Chang river was wide and gentle, perfect for boats . Along the way, many fleets of boats were seen passing by . Beasts could be seen on both sides of the riverbank from time to time, coming to quench their thirst in the river . Their appearance was unique yet strange, making Guo Shi’er very surprised .

Choo… . kala!

A black dot appeared on the horizon . It was traversing quickly and in the blink of an eye, Guo Shi’er could see clearly that it was a large eagle-shaped bird . He had already read the ‘Theory of Beasts’, so he immediately recognized it and could not help but shout, “Thunderhawk! Hide!” Everyone quickly scattered off to the cabins .
