ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 360: Dragon! Dragon! Part 25 Part 1
This situation right here is not nearly as ideal as I would have liked or imagined it, but at the same time it was a whole lot better than being stabbed in the back right as the battle was about to be won. Also, it is not entirely safe for them to do so, but seeing that the enemy was growing weaker the People of the Forest grew bold enough to start moving towards the front line once more. It’s good that their morale is so high.
Not to mention that right about the sheer numbers of People of the Forest were finally starting to play an important role in the battle. Don’t get me wrong –– their overall attack power was still weak as all hell, but at least their accuracy was spot on and what you lack in power you can easily compensate with sheer number of arrows that were being released towards the Red Dragon.
The constant barrage of arrows released by the People of the Forest was aimed right at the exposed weak point of the Great Red Devourer, but I was more than certain that none of those arrows would actually be able to reach it. They were able to reach the gaping opening in its chest for sure, but that’s about it. For some reason they were not able to penetrate any further, as if some sort of barrier was preventing them from doing just that. Not that it really matters here, though.
The arrows made very little damage, but that damage was finally starting to count here. The People of the Forest were getting closer to being able to bring down their prey. The best proof of that were the screams that the Great Red Devourer was letting out more frequently now. It was still inorganic and emotionless, but you could definitely feel both pain and anguish hidden behind that emotionlessness.
「Go! Go! Go! Go! Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on! Keep on firing until you run out of arrows! And then fire some more!!!」
That previous concentrated breath attack by all four heads at once made me realize that no matter what happens, Great Red Devourer would desperately try to defend its weak point from having any harm done to it. Concentrating all of our effort on that one spot alone would prove disastrous in consequences here, so our current strategy was most probably our best bet, the greatest chance we would ever have here.
「Emul! Shoot! Shoot! Shoot! Don’t stop shooting and don’t leave the slightest opening for a counterattack!」
「Sir! Yes, Sir!!!」」
Think you can do it!? Think you can cut it off!? No, don’t! Something’s wrong here! We need to fall back for now!
「Everyone! Stop shooting! Fall back! Fall back!!!」
What should I do here? My recast times are still not over yet. But then, how am I going to survive the counterattack here?
「Emul, how are you when it comes to MP?」
「I-I still have some left, but it’s not the amount I’m comfortable with. I-I would like to recover some of it, even if it is going to be just a little bit……」
Okay, I get it. So, does that mean that we are basically screwed right now? Because if that is indeed so…… Alright, fuck it. It may not even work here, but since we have come so far right now, we just have to believe in it, logic and rational thoughts be damned!
「Tottori!」
「What is it!?」
「I want you to prepare the strongest possible attacks that you have at your disposal and try to force it to back away again! Think you can do that!?」
「Alright, I understand, I will do my best here…… Say, but what about Deepslo-san……?」
「She’s as good as dead right about now, so don’t worry about that idiot. Once this thing is all over, we can exorcise the remains and give them a proper burial, so focus on the task at hand now, alright!?」
「Oh, alright, I mean…… Yeah? Huh?」
This is going to feel like making a big parade right in the middle of a freaking nowhere. Now, when it comes to preparations for this thing…… Just how should we all approach this?
At this point in time the Great Red Devourer mostly run out of all of the resources that were available to it, its body managed to revert back to the physical conditions it exhibited when it was still alive, and its only way of defending itself was with this body of his, without being able to rely on any external factors any longer.
But even if it was exhausted and weakened from all the fighting, it was still a raid boss monster. It was still a formidable opponent that would easily crush us all if we were to allow it to do as it pleased. After all, we are just lowly humans and Elves here, so if we want to win against a monster like that, we will have to throw everything we have at it and then some more…… And in order to just that, both humans and Elves won’t hesitate to seek help from a different monster. The one who has the same goal as we do: bringing that Red Dragon down no matter what.
With a whole lot of damage effect particles sprinkling from one of its heads, tri-headed Tyranno lets out a mighty roar filled with hatred and rage. Then it charges straight forward towards the Great Red Devourer, feeling that the climax of this battle was no close at hand.
Seeing that tri-headed Tyranno was charging straight at it, the Great Red Devourer turns towards it in order to stop the charge. However, it was at that moment when I slashed it across the body with Aradval Rebuild, turning its attention towards me. Just as planned.
In addition, the fact that I chose to attack the Great Red Devourer just as it was lock into battle with the tri-headed Tyranno again caused a lapse in judgment. For a short moment the Red Dragon just stood there in place doing nothing, not sure which enemy it should engage first, who would pose a bigger threat to it. It was at this moment that the heads and the chest of the Great Red Devourer were covered in arrows, that just so happened to start raining down on it at that exact moment.
「「「GOLULULULULULUOOOHHHHHH!!!」」」
「QeeaaaaaaaaaAAAAAA！！？」
While being locked in place like that, the tri-headed Tyranno basically rams its huge body right into the Great Red Devourer. Needless to say, seeing this coming the Red Dragon tried desperately to escape, but unfortunately for it, the Dinosaur here proved to be way faster and stronger.
With two huge bodies colliding with one another, the Great Red Devourer is forced to step back, and at the same time the tri-headed Tyranno started to vomit it bodily fluids all over its opponent. The mixture of spit and vomit does not dissolve at all, and even though I knew what its purpose here was, seeing a monster being covered in something as nasty as this was hard to look at. It was almost causing my own stomach to revolt in protest.
