ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 360: Dragon! Dragon! Part 25 Part 2
Once the Great Red Devourer realizes what is about to happen, it starts to thrash about with even more strength than ever before, just so that it could break free and go to safety. However, the tri-headed Tyranno was still pressing forward, locking the Red Dragon in place and preventing it from making any kind of movement. In that moment it was imply an obstacle that would not be stopped or overcome.
It’s a strange feeling. It’s not like we are a team or a party or anything like that. When it comes to players and monsters, the only kind of a feeling that we should feel for one another is hostility. But somehow…… I can feel faint signs of trust blooming in between us right now.
There was a part of me that had doubts about this situation, but it seems that the tri-headed Tyranno has got this in the bag. That is why I only offer here some words of encouragement, and those words are extremely simple.
「And now…… Burn this fucker into a crisp!」
Ignition.
Both a loud roar and a heat wave start to fill the entire arena here. Naturally, since the Great Red Devourer was right at the center of the blast it suffered a great deal of damage because of that attack, and in its aftermath it was struggling on it legs to maintain balance. As for me, I was using the tri-headed Tyranno in form of a shock shield here, so I was able to witness the red orb appearing right in front of me, defenseless and ripe for the taking.
「Great Red Devourer…… No, Great Red Dragon Eldranza…… This is your end!!!」
At this moment I jump forward, Aradval Rebuild in my hand and glowing with the light of the strengthening skill, “Tachikiri Wakachi”. It should be more than enough to shatter that red orb into oblivion.
The red-hot sword slashes through the red sphere with ease. Strange, its material seems to be both hard and soft at the same time. It gives me the feeling of a tightly packed rubber, or maybe a cheese?
This is Divine Punishment…… Or wait, this is something that humans exercise on other humans exclusively. So, how the hell should I address this situation right here?
「It’s Humanity Punishment time!」
Perhaps reading the atmosphere and feeling that it was going to be the final blow, Aradval Rebuild lit brightly with red flames, as if striking a pose.
Yes, that’s right. This last attack is going to settle everything here!
「QeeaaaaaaaaaoooooOOOOAAAAAAAAAA！！！」
「UWEH!?」
It was not enough!? No, this should have been enough, it should be dead! It was already on its death bed, no doubt about it! So why!?
As I was wondering about that, I could see that the Great Red Devourer was beginning to move. With its last dying breaths, it put the last remnants of its strength into its hind legs, raising its body upwards. Then it just tilted itself forward and started to come down…… Ah, I see. It was going to crush me with its body, using me as a pillow.
「Oh well, it doesn’t matter! This time for…… Uwah!?」
No way, did I happen to twist my ankle here or something!? Just when I was about to finish this whole battle!? Damn you, destiny! Damn you to hell for causing my entire body to collapse……!! Ah, but that means…… I’m done for, right?
At that time…… SWOOSH! There was the sound of a small object travelling through the air at high speed.
「D-Don’t tell me! Noo……!! Don’t you dare doing me so dirty like that……!!」
There was a lonely arrow sticking out of the red orb, that was now starting to be filled completely with cracks. There was a moment of deafening silence…… and in the next moment there was a huge explosion, one that was somewhat similar to the tri-headed Tyranno’s napalm attack. The red orb got completely obliterated in the process, and the lifeless corpse of the Great Red Devourer falls to the ground motionless, all according to the physics engine.
「Q, quuuoooooo……」
That was the last pathetic cry that this raid monster has ever let out of its mouth……
The body of the Great Red Devourer stops perfectly still as if the time has stopped for the corpse. Then, the red body started to crumble away bit by bit, as if its whole matter was turning into fine dust and scattering on the wind.
There was also something else left in there…… and it was a small and dried up grasshopper. However, once I tried to grab it inside of my palm, it collapsed into the dark red powder just like the rest of the Red Dragon’s body, the powder being carried by the wind god knows where.
「THOUGH THE FRENZY OF THE RED BLOOD HAS BEEN CUT DOWN TO SIZE HERE, THE REST OF THE ENTIRE BLOODLINE STILL FLOWS UNINTERRUPTED……」
「RAID BOSS MONSTER BATTLE CLEARED…… PRAY HAS BEEN SUBJOGATED.」
「SUBJOGATION TARGET: GREAT RED DEVOURER.」
「THIS CONCLUDES THE RAID BOSS BATTLE.」
「NUMBER OF ACTIVE RAID PARTICIPANTS: 3/45」
「START OF THE NEXT RAID BOSS BATTLE: TO BE DETERMINED AFTER PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE TO THE WORLD QUEST.」
According to the Bible or some other very similar book, the great plague of Locusts that devastated ancient Egypt was directly linked to the fangs of the lion. Here in this game it is a dragon fang, but whatever…… I mean, this is a raid monster, so there technically should be a possibility to rematch this guy, but at least for now I think the chances for that are actually pretty slim.
By the way, I wonder what this particular monster would turn into next? Because I am sure that there is more to this fight than what we have seen, and it would be great to have some more in-depth knowledge ahead of time. But I guess that you can’t always have anything you wish for, but that’s cool as well in my book.
「Hey, Brave Hero! I hope that you know that if you claim that you have made the last attack here, there will be a riot, huh!?」
「Huh!? W-Who, me!? Uh, umm…… no, it was OUR victory here!」
「What, all of a sudden this is a simulation game to you?」
However, those last words of mine melted into the deafening roars of happiness and cheer that followed right after the end of the battle. But since it was only a joke, there was no need for me to actually repeat them, and I could as well join in on the festivities, seeing how People of the Forest were celebrating their great victory. At the same, I could feel Emul frolicking wildly on top of my head.
…… That being said, it would have been great if it was actually the end of the story right here. It would have been what you might call a perfect happy ending. Unfortunately, there seems to be one teensy tiny little detail that the People of the Forest might have forgotten all about.
And just in case that the People of the Forest really managed to forgotten all about it, I am going to come with aid here and point that out for everyone to be aware of: it is something connected to the tri-headed Tyranno who was still curled up on the ground and trembling all over……
I mean, yeah right, I guess it was something that should have been expected…… Somehow, I was more or less sure that it would eventually use all of that accumulated power for something that would look quite like this.

「Eh?」
「Huuh!?」
Wait, what the hell!? It started to molt!?
